What’s your go to snacks that’s convenient when you’re on the run? I travel a lot and there are days here and there when I just need a little something other than my meal prep to get me through and options are limited .. I like these chips from legendary and quest.. 20g protein and 150 calories.. I know it’s empty calories and it’s probably not legit protein but it calms my hunger down and does minimal damage lol

I eat pickled anything on prep. Almost a zero, all of them.
Fresh dill pickles, raw sauerkraut, pickled okra.
You can buy all sorts of pickles in snack packs now. They need to be kept cool but I always travel with a cooler bag of some sort.

Pickled okra …need to find some of that

Shit is expensive already. Importing it here is brutal. I pay my trans-shipper (identifies as they/them) 32% to bring shit down.
They don’t have that sauerkraut or fresh pickles at our Costco either.

love sauerkraut.. unfortunately it doesn’t love me back

Y’all have any luck with protein bars? I like the Met-rx super cookie crunch bar, but I can’t imagine those things are any good for you.

I am the same way. There is a few of them I like… But I can’t imagine there is much to them. I just use them as a filler if I’m traveling for work and forgot to pack a snack for the day or something

Bags of fajita seasoned grilled chicken strips from Aldi, fruits with peels since they travel better(banana, apple, orange, etc), sometimes protein granola, electrolyte drinks low cal

Same with me, I keep a stash of the Kirkland brand protein bars as back ups. Good in a pinch.

One time I did a poor job of planning and only had protein powder and oats in a ziploc bag. Taking pulls straight from the bag on the plane got me some looks, and not good ones.

Bagels usually.
I don't really need protein snacks.
It's usually harder for me to reach carb goals.

The ones Wes is carrying (GymnTonic)
The strawberry cheese cake is so damn good it feels like Ive cheated on my diet!

Things I rotate on days I will snack (re feed days only otherwise I try not to snack).

* Tried and true staples: to go cups of yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Sometimes a few slices of bacon with the hard boiled egg.

* Peanut butter cups the to go kind like single serve crunchy peanut butter cups, not Reese's lol. Then I throw in a banana or an apple and eat with said peanut butter.

* On the weekly I make a mix of walnuts, almonds and pecans mixed with low sugar dried cranberries.

* The kiddo's like the barbbell protein bars so been buying those lately, they taste great and take the occasional sugar craving edge off while providing 21 grams of protein (chocolate caramel cashew or chocolate salted peanut).

* LMNT electrolyte packs

* Fairlife core power elite protein shakes 42 grams chocolate or strawberry

Interesting choices I forget how much I love pickled anything especially eggs. Do you think the pickled foods and kraut give you a real (non pill form) boost of nattokinase?

If im on the run, its a shaker cup with some whey and just a tupperware of fruit, usually blueberries sometimes dragonfruit.

I have no self control when it comes to actual snacks

I eat them because I like them. The raw sauerkraut is supposed to be probiotic but I really don’t care. Same for natto. I take it as a supplement anyway so I figure that’s covered.

Pickled eggs would obviously have some nutitional values/macros, whereas the vegetables don’t.

I should have mentioned that sometimes in deep prep, the wife will bring me a plate of jicama pieces with lime juice and Tajiin.
That’s probably pretty easy to take with you on the road. Also pretty much a zero.

On prep I go through the economy size jars like m&m's.
I pace myself on those pickles. I try to eat only two, maybe twice per day.
It looks like my last 8 weeks of prep will be stateside so you KNOW those pickles are in my fridge.

I always cooked up my food for the week on Sunday and had it all in the separate bowls ready to grab out of the frig to have the nutrition i needed at work all week. Did that for over 30 years when i was working. Now if i am on the go when i head out the door i grab my protein shake and some fruit so i can avoid eating processed foods to much.

I mean, the answer for the OP should be "always take food with you".
I drink or eat my 1100 meal and then go out shopping/errands. If I even suspect I will be gone more than two hours, I take a cooler bag with food or even bars with me.
It's no secret that "the secret" to dietary success if planning.
I am not fond of bars at all, but when I got RedCon MRE bars 2x1 AND 20% off of that, I bought four boxes. On paper, they seem to be the best quality. Problem is that they have been caught faking shit in the past. I gave away a bunch and they still lasted me two years.
I have a box of HexPro bars in my fridge right now. I probably won't touch them but I paid $12 for them.

I prefer food. But in a pinch, the bars work. Problem for me is any bars melt at room temp here so keeping a few in the truck doesn't work.

I have ate bars. In the average year i don't even eat 1 bar. When traveling by car on trips i just keep a jug of protein powder in my truck. When i don't have food available which is rare i can go in a grocery store grab some cottage cheeses and fruit. Only takes me a few minutes and i am stocked up for the day. If i have time to buy snacks i likely have time to buy better choices. I think people should do what ever works for them. I was just writing what i do.

99 percent of the time I prep my food.. but raising kids by myself and working 12 hr days with some days 6-7 hours on the road sometimes I have a day I just have to wing it until I get home. I will plan out and cook enough for 3-4 days at a time.. sometimes i get behind a day re-prepping.

Convenience store were always trash for on the go stuff.. but over the last while I think there definitely seems to be more options

I try everything on Sunday also and then again Thursday maybe.. a lot of stuff looses its luster after 4-5 days but not everything

I cooked my dinner most nights fresh. what i ate during the day was just a part of my job to accomplish what i wanted. I never worried about flavor. We all have our own comfort zones.

I am 65 and do not think i have ever bought food at a convenience store, Gas and lotto tickets are about it. I go years at a time without going in one.
