Becoming the Iron Lion

If you don't mind asking this question how were you able to accept slowing down in bodybuilding? With your injurys I see in your profile you got a good amount of muscle still

In my profile that was my only peptide cycle I’ve ever done, with just TRT dose of test.

It was a log for SBS peptide. Lgd4033, MK677, S4. Surprised at how much size and strength I put on. I was about 240 there at 6’2. I was ranging 220-250 then, now I’m staying about 210 and not really cycling but I will up my test a little to 300-400 a week and throw in some mast or primo at only 100-300, I’ll get up to 220 doing that. So I’m down 10-15lbs of muscle.

It was depressing at first and hard to accept getting smaller, everyone is gonna have to go thru it unless you die suddenly of heart attack or something. At first I tried to eat more to stay in the 220s but I was carrying too much fat and needed to drop down to stay lean. You can’t stay big forever, even if you keep cycling heavy age will eventually catch up to you.

Low back not much better

On top of that I have an immune disorder from Lyme disease, which fucks me up pretty bad too.
Ok, you win

Damn buddy, you're a walking arthritis display. Hats off on keeping it going man.

Rest is so critical. Anyone who gets to where you are has the drive to override resting but it’s critical (not telling you anything new, I know), so it’s good you’ve gotten some

And your post makes me wonder about joining a gym for access to machines as I get older. I love my garage gym, but machines have a lot of bennies for an older dude

I'm a fan of whatever I can make the most stimulus with that doesn't hurt.

I grew really well with more free weights, as the weights got to levels where they were extremely difficult to manage (I train alone), machines started to take their place. (Presses and rows)

You can fuck yourself up with anything but, the extra safety net on most machines is reassuring when you train to or past failure with lower rep ranges.

Logs are for sharing, ask away man.

Definitely logs are for interaction, sharing and gaining knowledge.

Montego is a very knowledgeable veteran, you guys should take advantage and ask questions if you have them or share experiences.

Monty - how old are you? As an old guy with lots of joint and bone stuff (surgeries and breaks and such), just wondering how close in age we are given the machine comments.

Hoping to learn from others before I make EVERY mistake myself (as I rehab from a grade 2 groin tear currently ). I’m not a new athlete but I’m a lifting noob, having only switched to lifting as my main thing for a couple years

So, I really appreciate the log!

I just turned 41.

My body feels like I'm 60.

My brain tells me I'm 25.

Some days I'm 30, some days I'm 70

Really it's the accumulation of 20 years at my profession and, 15 years of training like a maniac, 5 years non manic.

Pull today

Nothing stellar. Decent session but I was low on sleep so it was a grind.

We got one of those mega mass linear rows a few weeks back, it's a great piece. Its a "light" movement though so I have to use a good amount of weights but, it feels excellent. Every grip is good with chest and foot plate adjustments as well.

Maxed out the arsenal vertical row but didn't hit reps. This one has been a good addition since I figured out how it works best for me.

I gotta talk my gym owner into getting some thin plates.... These rubber coated shits take away so much space that I'm having to mcguiver shit when I shouldn't need to, especially with how awful my current regiment is..... If I were on and had my food and rest in order I would need a new gym lol.

Hope everyone is killing their goals!

Legs last night.

Little knee pain today after progressing the weight up last night. Not awful but enough to make me slow it down a touch.

Legs don't seem to have lost and concentric strength but, eccentric strength is shaky. It's something I had been working on for quite a while so I need to build it back up. This is a huge part of the knee pain in general so, it's priority currently.

Extensions and adductors. Extensions were painful to start for some reason but it got better. Last session the was no pain at all and I didn't progress the weights here. I guess it was just that kind of day.

Leg press felt ok until I went to four plates. Some pain there at "parallel" but, not awful.

Hip thrusts. This low back thing seems to improve with more extension and less flexion so, no more bent over stretching.

Some slow sets of hacks, lying leg curls, split squats and biceps.

Overall not bad, just a bit tender today.

Push.

Pretty good session. I must have tweaked my fused wrist this past week somehow because it's got a little tenderness. Not enough to effect training but uncomfortable. (Just add it to the list of fucked up body parts)

Arsenal incline progressed a rep on my top set

Arsenal standing vertical press progressed weight by a quarter per side but got 5 reps instead of the intended 6.

Arsenal seated press (mimicking a decline) lost a rep on my top set but gained a rep on both back offs.

Arsenal shoulder press no progress no regression.

Everything was super set with either a medial/rear delt exercise or a tricep movement.

I think the triceps in there affected the pressing. Since I'm not being super strict with my rest between sets or, what exercises I'm doing for accessory work, there's a big variable there. I'm enjoying it though, and at this point that's the goal.

PEDs haven't changed. 300mg test per week and 3iu GH ED.

I need to start the TB/bpc back up. After not using them for a while I definitely notice the benefits they were proving. Seems like everything is just getting dinged up easier or, it's taking longer to get right.

Training been going decent enough.

Diet has gotten much better, stopped buying cookies with my grocery haul....

In which case, I've dropped around ten lbs over the past two weeks.

I'm pretty sure I'm the strongest I've ever been for the exercises I'm doing upper body wise. It's silly really. The fact that leg training was non existent for over a month, and still now, it's not what it was in the past is the biggest factor I'm sure. Without that recovery being sucked up everything else is just surging.

I took two days off over the weekend to spend with the wife and felt fresh last night for push.

I used the 90s for DB incline.....I didn't think I would ever touch those again after the surgery. The sets were easy, but I'm just scared of the wrist honestly. I can't set the weights down from the press position so I gotta drop them which I don't like doing. They're not the 150s of the past but, it's a huge step for me mentally.

Encountered one of my top nightmares yesterday.....a nest of red wasps. I'm deathly allergic so it's a no shit deal for me. There were probably fifteen or twenty trying to make a home on the RV ..... Terrifying. And of course, the spray I had was old so it didn't spray nearly as far as I would have liked (two miles). Got em though and didn't die.

Fuck that dude. Those bitches are mean.

Good to see gym progress is going up and up over the last few weeks for you.

Training been good overall.

Push last night sucked, I was running way behind on sleep and it was a sixteen hour day, but legs the day before was surprisingly good.

Keeping my feet close and mid platform on everything was the ticket to avoid pain this session.

Two sets of belt squats
Three sets of leg press
Three sets of hacks
Two sets of extensions
3 sets of ab/adductors
2 sets of sldl's

Wasn't hurting after or the following day so it's a huge win.

Rest today and I'll train pull tomorrow. The connective tissue is feeling the strength a bit I must admit. Shoulders, wrists and elbows are all a bit tender really, especially the right wrist and shoulder. Gotta pace it a bit better these coming weeks but, it's to much fun to progress at this point.

Rest yesterday. Today is pull but I'm going to make it a rest day and train legs tomorrow on schedule.

Shoulders, elbows and the wrist are feeling it as I mentioned the other day.

Prepped food today, cleaned the RV roof, went to fix a running toilet at the house, grabbed some odds and ends at the grocery store I forgot to order and now, watching survivor reruns with the wife and going through client check ins.

I usually do these late at night when she's asleep but since taking on more people I've had to extended the time I allow for them.

I have guys check in whatever day is good for them so they're spread out, I can't imagine how some coaches with twenty or more people do these all in a single day (unless they don't have a job). Eyes start to cross at a certain point and heaven forbid you've got two guys with the same name lol.

Legs. Not bad

Pretty good pain free session up until the pendulum. Had a bit of tendon pain but not enough to cut it short. Will see how it's feeling tomorrow but, it wasn't from doing anything crazy.

Extensions 2 working sets at 175

V squat 1 set at 4pps, 1 set at 5pps. My feet are pretty far behind me here and very close but, it doesn't hurt. Almost like a squat/extension/hip thrust thing.

Pendulum 1 set at 3 plates, this is where the tendon had some pain. I am not, nor have I ever buried leg movements, and the tempo is pretty slow so I dunno, just the regular pain shit peeking out to say hi. 1 set at 2 plates

Squat press single leg 2 working sets with 3 plates, 1 muscle round to 24 reps

Smith stiff leg 2 sets at 2 plates a side, just seeing if this is going to bother the lower back shit I also have going on.

Split squats 2 sets at 35lbs. These were really good and didn't bother the tendon any.

That's it. More variety and fewer working sets on the same exercises. Rest tomorrow and push will get me back on schedule Wednesday.
