I do always enjoy a spirited but respectful debate and appreciate you taking the time to engage in such a fashion.
To clarify, what I meant was that legally carrying a firearm in any context should not be punishable by death — even if it is at a protest, for which this guy was recently killed.
Though you did not say so explicitly, it appears implicit from your remarks that the guy who was shot got what he had coming. If that is not what you were saying, then I misunderstood. If it is what you are implying, then I restate that legally carrying a firearm is legal and that’s that. It is legal and should not be punished.
Also, just to be clear, I think that tacitly encouraging open borders and uncontrolled migration is a terrible policy. The fact that Democrats tacitly adopted this view is why they have suffered politically in recent years.
However, people protesting in favor of any policy — no matter how misguided — have a constitutional right to do so that is foundational to the Republic. Encouraging such protest is also constitutionally protected, and I can’t understand how it could be construed as treason.
Nobody is referring to peaceful protesters Sir. It’s the ones that are not peaceful using that constitutional right as a scapegoat to get away with their excessive behavior. Some are not getting away with the shit anymore. Again, “call it what it is”
I own 5 rifles, 4 shotguns, and 7 handguns so I support gun rights as much as anybody and am a responsible gun owner. I’ve had interactions with law enforcement when I’m carrying in my vehicle I let them know right away when I get pulled over. Being transparent and responsible is the way to avoid any danger especially during elevated situational emotions.
Having a weapon on you is your right but if you want to bring a gun with you while being apart of professional agitators against law endorsement officers then you are playing games with your life. If you were an officer and your life is threatened by someone defying law and order who possess a gun are you going to wait to be shot first? Having a gun on you and being compliant is a totally different story.
