Just curious as I have noticed whenever I have taken Novolin R i never have issues with hypoglycemia.

Humalog would hit me like a ton of bricks when i took it a few years back. I would eat closer to 15g per ius...but Novolin has never even given me a hint of going hypo even off 4g of carbs per iu.

Is it just slow enough that my liver compensates as my BG levels drop? Or does anyone else notice similar issues?

Is the different experience separated by long duration of time? There could be other underlying reasons why you were going hypo a few years ago compared to your experience today. Reason I ask is I had some serious hypo issues a few months back but couldn’t identify the problem. I do not believe it was gear related but could have been related to my pancreas and my hormone levels as I was off gear at the time, off pct and my diet didn’t change.

I understand the differences....im asking if it is possible to be resistant to one type of insulin vs another.

Humalog hit me like a a train when it peaked...a higher dosage of novolin r should at least be comparable when it peaks...

Humalog is a faster acting insulin then novolin r.

Unless you pinned the novolin IM, they will release at much different rates.

Even IM, novolin will still be a slower release but, closer.

This Novolin R is slower, I take novolin R, 8-12iu preworkout. How much you take? N I take 15-20iu, really increases appetite all day as it's an 18hr, R about 8hr, humalog 6hr

its possible to cause insulin resistance from using expired or bad insulin, but if you had insulin resistance you would start having signs of high blood sugar. get a glucose meter and test yourself 2 hours after eating, if you are over 140 you got the betes

I think what you are most likely experiencing is what everyone is saying, your are not hitting the curve of the release

Im just not experiencing any sort of hypo symptoms is my point. I know the curve is different. I just figure that if 10ius of humalog would make me go hypo when it peaked...and I needed a ton of carbs to compensate, I would imagine 15isus of novolin R would do the same thing when it peaks.

Or maybe were saying the same ahit and i am just derping out. I guess if the peak is slow enough I wouldnt notice as severe sides as a faster peak.

I think you're missing it.

Humalog - 10iu onset is almost immediate, 1-15 minutes and peaks in 30-90 minutes, then dissapates within a couple hours.

Novolin R- 15iu (unless IM), onset in 30-45 minutes, peaks between 2-5 hour or so and dissapates after that.

Big spike vs longer lower elevation.

Didn't think humalog was "that" fast, ill have to look at the charts again. Alot faster than novolin R, I feel the effects of nov r for 4-6hrs.

Edit. Yep was thinking humulin

the "R" stands for regular, I know most of you know this but thought maybe it was worth adding, it doesnt mean rapid. the R schedule is supposed to follow normal digestion and peak like natural insulin
