Hughmangoes transformation log

For me its always the corned beef hash... IDKY... but I get to that point and I have to spit that shit out... it just ain't going down! NFW!
Idk corned beef hash sounds good, with some potatoes and onions fried in butter? How many days worth of fat do you reckon a serving of that is gonna cost?

Shhhhh... he's listening. He only beats us when we don't follow the macros... and some other small things...

Wasn't I then one who told you about them? I remember posting about savory oats somewhere around here.
finally thank you! i couldn't remember who told me about them. shits money! thank you!
i sat that on that recommendation for months!

i have to use chicken broth in it super sparingly otherwise im a walking nuclear waste hazard :ROFLMAO:

my iron clad stomach met its match with chicken broth.
surprisingly gone most of my life never using chicken broths or beef broths for anything.

might be why it affects me so harshly.

cognee/savory oats has been my go to for a minute.

took me a long time to muster up the courage to make this, since im used to american sweet oats.
I make oatmeal with garlic, and chives and chicken breast several times a week. chicken broth instead of water. I love the stuff. and keeps me full for a while.

yea its super great!

dont forget to try colcannon as well! its stupidly good lol and also super filling.

something like 200grams of cabbage and 300 grams of potatoes is ridiculously filling.

I tried "polenta" a few times. basically its the same as congee but with cornmeal instead of oats. I loved the flavor but it destroyed my digestion. :poop::poop:

so its off the menu :ROFLMAO:

Drove to the gym today instead of public transportation and walking. It's so much better lmao. But I got enough steps walking around other places so I don't feel too guilty.

Tried a trick with yoga mat on leg extension to increase the stretch but it didn't feel any different or better so I ditched it.

Rest day with 40 mins incline treadmill.

Saving a bit of fats because I'm planning to eat out on Saturday. Not sure what I want to get yet. Before the diet I never ate steaks at restaurants because I made them better at home, but I'm wondering if I'll enjoy a mediocre steak after not eating any for 6+ months.

I also realized today that many eu labels list "net carbs" but call them just "carbs" wtf is up with that? I thought that US labels were sneaky with their net carbs, but it looks like eu isn't any better.

Sounds good! Just make sure to ask for no butter on the steak. Most steak houses use a ton of it with steak.

Upper B today with 40 mins incline treadmill.

Back felt super good, feels like I'm improving every week in pull movements.

Flys are still meh. Can't figure out this stupid movement, tried sitting instead of standing on the flys and the discomfort from top of the shoulder moved somewhere in the shoulder blade area. I even did like 10 mins of stretching and mobility bullshit for the shoulders. Atleast DB presses feel fine.

Food low on fats again, saving for a steak tomorrow.

the first time I tried flies i nearly tore my shoulders haha.
its kinda hard and depends on the cable set up, and I started a little too heavy so when I failed the cables snatched back really fast and hard. woops.

Im still guarding the elbow, so my flys front and rear are on the machine. I can do cables but for now... seated.
I always try and perform the movement as if I’m grabbing a barrel and pulling it to my chest... I get awesome pumps with minimal shoulder pain.

It really helps keeping your arms straighter and pulling your elbows together. Takes a lot of pressure of the shoulder joint. The more the arm bend usually the less activation of the pecs. Have to find what works for you.

With standing flys and flys in general what works for me is visualizing the muscle contraction. Practice squeezing your chest without weight, then focus more on the squeeze of your chest than moving your arms. Obviously you will have to move your arms but in your mind make the contraction the primary goal and then you will kinda eliminate the shoulders out of the movement

Yeah I've heard that advice and it helped me get a better mind muscle connection on db presses. Flys are supposed to be easier but it's the opposite for me. I think there is some connection between my right shoulder sloping forward and the discomfort I get on the right side doing flys.

Check ins went well. Absolute weight is up 1.5lbs since last week, weekly avg is down 4.3lbs, I love math.

Had a steak lunch today, so good after endless chicken breasts. Also made congee with steel cut oats and chicken breasts, forgot how filling it is.
Over on fats today but on weekly avg I'm below set macros so all good.

Had a good leg workout in the morning. Have to lower sldl weight for next week, want to focus more on hams and I felt my back taking over a bit.

Rest day with 40 mins incline treadmill.

Went out for some seafood today. Overate a bit and felt like shit, eating out two days in a row seems to be too much for me. Reduced overall food for the rest of the day by a bit to account for any inaccuracies in logging restaurant food.

My favorite bag of frozen veggies went from incorrectly being logged at 6.5g of carbs per 100g to a more accurate 11.3g per 100g. Sad day.

Rest day with 40 mins incline treadmill.

Weird thing I noticed is I started getting doms recently. Same training volume and almost same weights for several months, same supplements, macros, almost same amount of sleep and stress - nothing changed. Wondering if it's a good sign or bad sign. Not a big deal anyway, just weird.

Food is boring. Made over 5 pounds of chicken and 5 pounds of rice with veggies, going to be eating that over the next few days. Some extra fruit during training days.
I’ve found salsa on plain chicken to be a nice little treat to give it some more added flavor. There are also some sauces u can use that have good macros . I think it’s GH Hughes or something. Coach uses them. I personally have not.

same, i mostly buy chicken breast, and try to do ground beef 1 meal a day. generally for me ill make 10 - 12 lbs of chicken breast on sunday, and about 3 lbs of ground beef on sunday.

although when cutting it was just all chicken breast. When putting on weight, it seems varying your protein sources is highly recommended.

i actually found some 98/2 turkey breast yesterday. never seen it available in my area. picked up 3 lbs.
I just found some ground turkey at Aldi. A 4oz serving is 28g protien and 1 g of fat 😁 I’ve been eating this for 3 meals for a few weeks now. I got sick of our chicken breast. I’m not sure if u have this problem with your chicken but around here it’s never trimmed properly. It ended up being chewy and rubbery. I gave up on buying it. I got sick of wasting lbs of chicken and money every week

Lmao for sure, i may or may not have even gagged a few times. I remember I tried eating a bunch of egg whites initially, just microwaving that snot and eating it, chicken breasts are definitely much better.
Microwaved egg whites are horrible lol there way better cooked on the stove for me

I'm not sure. They dont seem rubbery but I also don't care lol. I just scored some 99 1 turkey as well, never seen it before!

Usually 90 10

@Halfi haha I microwave my eggwhites everyday lmao

I use butterball ground turkey 93/7 cooked ground up mixed with Brussel sprouts, enough fresh garlic to kill a gambino boss lol
And drizzle some sirachi...
Its my go to!!

Really... Damn I should consider myself lucky the Trader Joe's that I go to has 90, 97 and 99% fat free Turkey available all the time... in fact, anytime I make a burger with the 99%, I actually have to add a dot of Olive oil, so it doesn't stick to the pan.

Just remember the ground meat lean/fat ratios are usually eyeballed, not under macro scrutiny. With chicken it's not a big deal as it's lean regardless, but beef at 90/10 or 93/7 can be much higher in fat than they show on the label.

Seen many times when someone is counting macros meticulously eating ground beef, then switch to another source and they drop weight. Not a big deal in a surplus, but if you are in a deep cut with low fat targets, something to look out for.
