Looking for advice. I'm looking to do a first competition next year, have a solid base right now but don't really have the mass. Wondering what is the best way to go about building a competition level physique. My current training split is push/pull/legs (chest/tri/shoulders, back/bicep/rear delts, legs/abs) ~5x a week with high carb high protein diet.

If it's your first show, hire a coach. Better to get with on for an off-season so they know how you respond by the time contest prep rolls around.

You have a solid base but no mass?
Sorry, wouldn't that be the solid base?

You're always fatter then you think you are and have less muscle then you think you do.

Hire a coach, learn and let him get a handle on your body for a few months.

If you can't afford a coach, eat as much chicken, rice, potato, egg, oats as you can choke down every day and train harder then you ever have. After 6 months of that, reevaluate and go hire that coach.
