Some Christians think God never changes but the incarnation is the most consequential change in the universe. The Word became flesh.
Ditch your Pagan Greek philosophy and embrace the Truth!

The Open View. First studied this concept in the mid 90's. Most Christians have no idea that this doctrine exists. I spent several years learning these despised doctrines and others like them. It profoundly affected me.

I was at home on my bedroom floor studying multiple translations to gain this revelation roughly 22 years ago. this is not taught in 99.9% of churches but I believe it is on point... good post bro, thought provoking for all who believe for sure. How has it affected you?

There are several keys to understanding the Bible and it was one of them. I honestly believe that about 90% of Christianity has no idea how to interpret scripture. Name 10 NT doctrines and you will get multiple answers on each doctrine from believers. Christianity agrees very little with each other. There are many denominations and its due to one massive misunderstanding in the NT. When I have more time, I'll share it. Imagine one simple Biblical concept that answers a dozen or more different doctrines. I'm hesitant to even present it because people are just so entrenched in their beliefs.

It doesn't help many gospels were removed . When you have half of the information needed it won't make sense to anyone . I try to read the removed books and piece together the information based on what I know .

If I can't piece it together I have 3 pastors on speed dial I can text at any time of day

I try not to get lost in the Theologians arguments. Psalms are fairly straight forward in message.

Psalms 1–6

Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.

4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

discernment says denominations as a concept is contrary to the word of God, there are many reasons I believe that, for instance one widely known reason that I’ll say on this platform... idolatry is taught from the top down in the catholic church

that being said... proverbs 8:9-11 reads
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

I’d like to learn more. Do not hesitate.

Yeah that’s kinda what I’ve been saying….

My only problem with it is….

Why does Europe and the divided states of America have to “embrace diversity”( at the cost of “whiteness” and Christian culture) otherwise it’s racist blah blah blah…. But Israel doesn’t?

First chapter I ever memorized when I was a child. Good stuff!

Why is there a gap between Daniels 69th and 70th week? Here's a random article that makes a case. I would respectfully disagree on the timing of Israel being set aside but other than a few minor issues this article lays out a decent theory. Most theologians put Israel's rejection of Christ at the crucifixion. I would place the rejection a bit later. This has a profound effect on how we interpret scripture. I'll comment further when I have time.

We are back at the Tower of Babel.

After reading the above article you may have realized the above author thinks the second coming is very soon. Let's assume a 33 AD crucifixion (this is a late date by most theologians). 2000 years later is 2033. If the pretrib view is correct you would subtract 7 years leaving us with a 2026 date. If the midtrib view is correct you would land about 2029-2030. If post trib is correct that would place the second coming no later than 2033. Obviously, there are several assumptions here. I DO NOT ADVOCATE DATE SETTING BUT WE DO APPEAR CLOSE.

One key is recognizing that Daniels 70 weeks is about Israel and for Israel. The question is, when was Israels rejection of Messiah final? I propose later than most people think. The answer is in the beginning chapters of Acts. You cannot understand the Bible without understanding Acts chapters 1-10. Read these chapters a few times over. Once you have a good grasp of these chapters the answers will all fall into place. Shall we study Acts? Let me know if you are interested, please.

How do many Christians decide on what doctrines to believe?

Many Christians at some point in their lives will study a topic and list out all the verses that support their view and all those verses that do not support their view. They will consult experts, study the context and may even delve into the original languages. All good exercises and profitable for gaining understanding. However, the conclusion will frequently disagree with other Christians. Take the doctrine of eternal security. Ask 100 Christians if they believe in eternal security. The majority do not but is the majority correct? How can we know for sure? It's almost like a coin toss. A coin toss on dozens and dozens of doctrines. One group uses proof texts and problem texts and explains away all the problem texts. The other side uses the problem texts as their proof texts and the endless arguments ensue for what feels like an eternity.

What if you could take all the problem texts literally and all the proof texts literally? What if they are both correct? Impossible right? Imagine never having to spiritualize a doctrinal passage again. What if we have been approaching doctrine wrong this whole time? The first time I heard the solution to this I was intrigued but at the same time skeptical. I ended up choosing one of the hardest verses in the NT (Acts 2:38) and applied this solution. 6 months later of study and I was convinced. I have never looked at the Bible the same again. That was in the mid 90's.

Should Christians judge?

Matthew 7

“Judge not, that you be not judged.

John 7
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Which is it? Judge not or judge rightly.

oh boy bible trivia haha

It's both...

I went back to read for context... the hypocrites/religous folks were judging Jesus in John 7 which was unrighteous judgement and according to His appearance of unrighteousness in their religious eyes

In Matthew 7 Jesus is talking to the disciples and those who gathered to hear Him speak on the mountain side... you have to know your audience to judge this correctly ... a sinner is already judged according to John 3:17 so he doesn’t need your judgment but rather to know the truth and come to salvation
All believers can be judged by his fruit, since no man is without sin, we speak to them in private about there sin against you... if he agrees you win him back... Matthew 18:15

Im feeling you have a profound word to share on your post that I passed over...? I used Matthew 18 to answer... I dont think thats what your OP was referring to tho

Matthew 7 is a passage that is almost universally misunderstood. Even unbelievers commonly misquote the passage.

Matthew 7 is teaching us how to judge it's not telling us not to judge. In other words, judge rightly.

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

If I am doing a blatant sin like adultery and I come and confront a brother about porn addiction I am the brother with the plank in my eye. Stop the adultery or never do it so you can see clearly to judge the speck in your brother's eye. Notice he calls the guy with the plank hypocrite. Jesus constantly confronted hypocrites. Notice we are supposed to judge brothers. This implies other believers not unbelievers.

Paul also elaborates in his letters who we should judge and who we will one day judge in the next life. It's an interesting study.

Bottom line, judge without hypocrisy or judge rightly.

Deuteronomy 23:1,2

No one whose testicles have been crushed or whose penis has been cut off shall come into the assembly of the Lord.

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
Without speech or language,
without a sound to be heard,
their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

Can you go further in depth on this?

Seems like a slippery slope for the “hologram Jesus” to have even more new stuff to say… stuff that may not lead us astray..
The premise is that there are 2 believing groups in the NT. Each group was given a slightly different set of house rules. Most Christians mix the 2 sets of rules causing mass confusion or they choose one set of rules over the other. You have about a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

Imagine believing that you needed to sacrifice animals and believe in the death of Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Or worse, imagine sacrificing animals for forgiveness instead of believing in Christs death for the forgiveness of sins. This is an extreme example but its exactly what MOST Christians do today on many doctrinal issues.

Would you build an ark because it was commanded in the Bible? How about build an alter and sacrifice your son on it? The Bible commands circumcision so we need to do that too right? What about keeping the Sabbath?

I taught my son when he was just learning to read the Bible to always look at context first. Who is speaking? Who is being spoken to?

You are not Noah, you are not Abraham, You are not Israel. Why would you follow their directives if the directives were only for them?

Who are you according to the Bible?

likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin.c He thus condemned sin in the flesh, 4so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Jesus is the way the truth and the life.

I’ve been going through a string of depression lately. Moved to a country where I don’t know anyone except my wife, speak decent but not fluent, and feel isolated often. For encouragement, last night I read Psalms 27. Left after some prayer feeling much better.
