Hey, I’ll tell you — after all these years, I know there’s no way to cheat rest, not even with AAS :) It’s good that you listen to your body, because a day or two of rest will give you much more than a workout. I love training after a day or two off — your mind grows, and your body reacts completely differently.

The man has spoken and I must follow the advice! The extra rest has been really nice and I feel the lifts have been more productive, but still can’t help feeling I’m leaving gains on the table by missing days, trying to remove that thought from my head!

To simply put it, I love it 😅. Can be very addicting so limiting myself to using it sparingly. Great pumps and energy, focus is high, aggression towards the lifts has me pushing harder, can’t say anything bad about it yet
 
3-16 and 3-17

Monday was a very long day! Started at 130am when I woke up to be at the gym by 230am for a tough leg day before my 12 hour shift. Mistakes may have been made because I spent the day running around putting out fires at work and the legs weren’t too thrilled about that. By 6pm I was drained and passed out by 730pm.

Haven’t updated about my sleep in a minute but it’s been good. Still averaging about 6-7hrs which is phenomenal for me. Still using that oral sleep blend which I attribute to the better sleep. No complaints on that front. IMG_5196.png

Tuesday, had an alarm set to get up at 130am again for a Sharms day, but quickly snoozed that alarm when I realized it was only 10* out and I wasn’t feeling getting out of the warm bed yet. So rest day it is. Off the next 2 days so will hit the gym hard!

Wednesdays are for the sweet chest pump. Wish it worked that way and I could dedicate days to a certain a group but my schedule will never allow that. No worries, this is working and progress keeps going the correct way. Completely wrecked chest, shoulders and triceps, no better pump except maybe walking out of the gym like a baby deer after a hard leg day!

And now it’s already creeping into your head, but that’s something completely different. I know a bit about this — for me, a simple walk helped a lot, but not as a workout. I mean, outside, without any intense pace, just a walk.


Thanks to that, my mind felt clear, and I even tricked myself a little into thinking it was a workout :)

Thankfully it’s been kept a bay with the schedule and haven’t had a lot of time to think about it, so it working!
 
I'm liking the amount of steps here, I got a friend hitting 10k a day.

So many don't understand those daily steps are pivotal as far as the transformation of our physique.
It’s really a game changer for so much. Just keeping up activity level, digestion, and keeping glucose regulated.
 
3-19 and 3-20

Thursdays menu consisted of a knock out leg day that left me weak and begging for mercy. I always say if you aren’t leaving the gym walking like a fresh baby deer, you didn’t go hard enough. We hit that and then some. It’s been a minute since I’ve felt the soreness setting in as I’m leaving the gym. By the time I went to bed my entire lower half was already stiff and screaming any time I had to bend or kneel for something. I’d call that a success with a side of insanity. Had a horrible but hit the spot cheat meal for dinner, 4 cheezburgs and a spicy Mcchicken. A little over on calories but I typically try to earn that on my leg days. I’m coming to realize that no amount of food or gear can save my legs from the DOMS that always presents, no matter how long I’ve been doing this, my legs are the only group to ever get sore.

Friday rest day, got to bed late and only would have ended up with 3 hours of sleep if I tried to get up for the gym and sleep is taking priority right now. Arms and Back scheduled for early Saturday morning.

Up and at it at 130am to make use of an empty gym. With how good I’ve been sleeping it pains me to cut it short to get a lift in! Only 2 more shifts of days next week before I can get back to normal routine and looking forward to it. Fingers crossed sleep remains consistent! Decent back and bicep day on the log. Performance suffers a tiny bit having to lift fasted that early in the morning but the work got done.

Calories were significantly lower for the day, dealing with some terrible bloat that killed my appetite. Need to start my digestive enzymes back up and possibly split my meals up even further so volume isn’t so high in one sitting. Sunday will be a rest day and protein sparing fast day to get the gut under control.

Mondays fun day of international chest day. Rested Sunday to let the gut take a break. Things seem to have improved and adjusted some choices to help that out. Also picked up a continuous glucose monitor to gather more data on how my body is handling all these carbs. So far data shows my insulin sensitivity is still very high, body processes the carb loads a little too fast. Will see how the data looks after 10 days, accuracy checked with finger prick and seems to be within range by 8 points every time.

Another wonderful day in the books in this journey of mine. Weather is beginning to turn and that elevates the mood and the passion. Warm weather is near! Fantastic back day completed. Great motivation lifting with a friend trying to out do each other this session, no clear winner, we both have our different strengths and feed off the energy.

11 weeks into the cycle, mood is great, motivation is high, sleep has improved drastically, no complaints from me. CGM is giving me some decent data that I get to learn how to use to take this thing to the next level.

Blood work scheduled for next Monday 3-30.

I averaged 6.5-9 hours of sleep these 4 weeks, will I be able to keep that going on nights? Yall are along for the ride with me to see if it’s possible. Ready to get back to my preferred routine if I can manage the sleep correctly.

Quick and simple leg day on Friday, straight to the point and got the work done. No extra volume, sets or unnecessary exercises done. Time was limited so went in and completed the task. Smoke the legs.

Wonderful 3 day weekend before I switch back to night shift. That means 3 more days of solid sleep before I go back to struggling(hopefully not, have the tools now to keep going). This month I averaged 7 hrs of sleep compared to 3.5hrs last month, going to work to keep that number where it is. Training on Saturday was a little bit of everything upper body to finish off the month. Rested Sunday and had blood work done Monday morning. Will reset the routine Tuesday morning and reconfigure nutrition and training to fit the night shift schedule. Feeling good going into it and looking to carry on progress!
