Bible Thread

I'm super happy for you, I really am and going to ask a respectful question. Do you honestly believe that there was divine intervention specifically for you to get the job because you and a couple of people wished/prayed for it to be true? Or maybe you would have gotten anyway?

I ask because 8,000 children under the age of 5 die in the World every day from disease, starvation, accidents, etc. The large variety of these kids have parents, brothers and sisters, family praying and begging God to save them. It doesn't happen. Does God think your job is more important? Who gets to be saved then or given God's advantage? Do you see where I'm going?

Again, all respect. I lo1ve having these conversations and not judging.
I honestly believe theres such thing as good and evil that question gets asked a lot and no one can really answer that question at least for me there's been a lot proof that Jesus was real and matter of fact sodom and gomorrah location was found to this day there's still sulphur balls found on the location with buried bones a lot of what I can tell is my life is a whole lot better following the Christian God like life compared of my selfish only worried about my self life as humans don't we all want to be caring and loving humans as God teaches in the Bible ?

In terms of who gets what, there is a path set out for us all. Some must pass because their path is for this. Parents, brothers, sisters, family experience that person passing, and from the suffering may come positive or negative. It depends on the person. It is not black and white. God has a set path for us all, and no matter whether we falter or get distracted, we get right back on that path.

Speak for yourself. :) I have and will continue to make my own. Always striving to better my family, friends, loved ones and self. I feel we only have one shot at this life and I do everything to live it to the fullest while trying to make it better in any way I can.

And that is perfectly understandable. No one knows the path of another, the higher power provides us clarity, and like you making your own path, the higher power makes paths. The unknown is difficult to put into words. Definitely not as simple as bodybuilding calories in vs calories out.

How many guys you know would be beaten, tortured pinned to a cross to die. All for a LIE?
That's how I know Jesus is real. nobody would die for a lie.

Id be like.... I lied I lied, my Quads are not 32" their 31" let me down!!!!

Solomon was the wisest men to ever live he wrote Proverbs among other books but proverbs has 31 chapters, reading one a day is equivalent to taking a supplement for your souls health.

“The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” – Proverbs 10:22

“To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.” – Ecclesiastes 2:26

King Jesus is
on His throne today 💪

Death is mercy.

Not for people who don't believe you go to some supernatural theme park where our loved ones and pets are magically reassembled to spend eternity with. :)

I'll prefer to be alive.
In fairness, while you said you enjoy these conversations, based on your word choice and questions. It seems you’re actually trying to debunk/prove the ideology wrong?

In fairness, it's a bible thread, correct? I have respect for all these guys, but nowhere does it say you have to be a believer or praise God to take part in the discussion.

In order for good discussions, you need different viewpoints and sometimes be controversial. That's how we learn and grow. If I offend you, skip my posts cupcake. :) I ask questions to get a better perspective on why believers believe what they do. I sometimes put in some levity and bust balls, and I encourage them to-do the same to me. We're all men here, right? While I think it's nutty to believe lot of this stuff, I'm sure they feel the same way in why I don't believe. Shouldn't matter. As long as we respect each other maybe we can both learn.

Im not offended. I wanted clarity on your intentions is all. It’s not easy to get clarity through online.

I choose to believe because I've seen God move in my life. And its a beautiful thing to dive into the word and be a follower of Christ. If all of us who choose to believe are wrong, what have we lost? We will have lived and loved a beautiful life. But if we're right what will we the unbeliever have lost?

Have you had tragedy in your life that's influenced your perspective? Have you ever sought God's presence with an open heart and not to just prove the believers wrong?

You are referring to Pascals Wager which I think is a fear based, abdication of intellectual integrity and belief without conviction. If you believe and it's not true, what do you have to lose? How about a life wasted on worshipping something there is no evidence for, wasting time praying, living a life of irrational blind faith without requiring evidence and preaching falsehoods. I could go on, but see where I'm going? It goes both ways. The beautiful thing is we can choose.

If is God is real. I will confidently stand before him and say, "I've read the both the New and Old Testament cover to cover. I despise many of the horrific and barbaric things in it. You offered no evidence or proof of your existence other than blind faith. If you want to punish me for rational thinking, living an amazing life in which I've helped countless people, made numerous sacrifices for my loved ones and left the World a better place. Would you rather I pretend to believe in you based off of fear? Do what you will as I have no regrets."

I have had plenty of tragedy in my life. I didn't sit around praying, wallowing or asking for divine intervention. I took action and did what had to be done.

And why is it always assumed as in your last sentence I am trying to change believers' minds? One could say the same about religious people in trying to spread the faith. I don't care either. I enjoy the discourse and have learned through it.

My life won't be wasted if I'm wrong. I will have lived a life based on following Christ and have left the world a better place as well. I don't see it as wasted. And we do get to choose and that is the great thing about it, I agree.

We get to choose and choosing Him is the basic requirement for salvation. So you will stand in front of him and say you know you willingly denied him, do what you will? I hope you change your mind, brother.

Why do you think followers of Christ wallow and wait on divine intervention in the face of tragedy? If you've read the Scriptures front to back like you say, that's not what it calls us to do. Not sure why you would think that's how all believers react to tragedy and don't "do what has to be done", like yourself.

Maybe I was wrong on you trying to prove anyone wrong but that's what it looks like. If I was wrong, my apologies.

Have you ever sought God's presence with an open heart? I don't think you answered that one. It's easy to deny His presence if you've never felt it. And you won't be in His presence unless you seek him.

I love ya and respect you either way.

I have experienced supernatural and God in my life to a degree, that I would gladly die for my beliefs. It is hard sometimes for someone who hasn't experienced God or the supernatural to believe it to be true. I get that. But sometimes those people have experienced they just don't recognize it.

When you ask God into your heart and you have faith in him, it actually increases your discrenment and understanding of God and heaven and hell. But you won't ever get to that level unless you accept him as your Lord and savior. I am probably the most skeptical human on Earth and I have come to know that God is all you need. You will only know God is all that you need, when God is all you have.

I too have had a tragic life. Very difficult to the point that in my past I hated this Earth. I know it's not the way God meant it to be, full of suffering, tragedy, evil and death. But once you come to know God, you will see how to strengthen and endure hardship. It gives you understanding you would never have any other way.

A race car is designed to run on special gasoline, and we as humans are designed to run on God and the holy spirit.

I will pray for you. That is better then any gift I could ever give you. And I truly hope that you would be open to researching etc. You literally just have to pray to God and ask him into your heart and that you wish forgiveness of your sin. And that you accept him as your Lord and Savior.

I was in prison when I tried to read the Bible cover to cover. I never did but I have read a solid proportion of it. The holy spirit will grow on you. When I open my Bible I can feel an actual energy come out of it into me.

Think about when you take a scoop of Craze, excelsior, jack3d, or some crazy pwo. The beta alanine tingles and you "feel it". It hits you hard. The holy spirit will do this to you when You accept God. Over time and you will see God working in your life, improving things and giving you peace. It's truly that dynamic. And I put my entire 25+ year reputation in this sport on the line. If you told me I had to walk away from my entire life to follow God. I would. That's how sure I am of it. And I am desperate to show others for that I don't wish Hell upon anyone at all. I know that to be true too, and that is where those who don't repent will end up. :(

It's free. Doesn't cost you or anyone a dime. I hope you consider it my good sir, for God will improve your life. He won't make your life perfect and many times Christians have more suffering then other people. They just learn how to utilize God to bring them peace and strength. Evil will seek out a believer in God more then he will someone who doesn't.

In order to understand, comprehend and assimilate information, both the intellectual (mind) and openness (heart) need to be in the equation.

Like Bodybuilding, unless we’re fully dialed in, no growth or change. Same as accepting Christ.

When we stumble, fall, or fail at doing what we know is right to do, or what is good to do, or even outright just screw up intentionally knowing we should have chosen a different route, remember these encouraging words about the love of God over all humanity, that means you me, your neighbors and even in-laws are qualified to receive haha💪

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” – 1 John 3:1

You say, "humans are designed to run on God and the holy spirit." How do you or anyone else know that? Because you feel it? Come on. You can literally apply that to anything.

Your analogy of taking a scoop of pre-workout or a supplement and you feel it. How many times do we experience placebo? How do you know it's not that? Think about it. You are at an all-time low and you have nothing hitting rock bottom, but there is this thing you can throw yourself and problems on. Sometimes things will get better, sometimes they don't. When they do however, it's God. When they don't, you don't hear a peep about God. Seems kind of convenient, no? It's like when two devote Christians get in the ring and fight. One gets brutally knocked out and thanks God. Does the other guy blame God? Of course not. Why did God bless the winner if they are both devout good Christians. It's silly.

I could say in my times of need I reached down inside of me and felt the spirit of the Big Ju Ju at the bottom of the Sea. You would think I was nuts. Even in your times of need and you did feel something inside you...How do you know it's a God that cares whether or not you eat meat on a certain day? You don't. Maybe it's you realizing things need to change.

Just because we don't know something or where it comes from like we did with flood, Earthquakes, famine, etc. We attribute it to God but amazingly many things we've done this with we've figured out.

If you see a man in the street kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach. Do you need a book written 2,000 years ago in Bronze Aged Palestine to tell you that's wrong? Of course not.

And don't pray for me. I mentioned above if you want to believe in the supernatural that's your right but please don't apply it or try to spread it to people who don't believe. I'm not here trying to wish Atheism on anyone. That would be hubris.

Good convo. I enjoy the back and forth and if it seems like I don't respect your views, I do. As I would hope you respect mine.

Just found this thread and I'm loving how wide the discussion is ranging. Many different perspectives but respect still being shown.

Whether you're a firm believer or not there is always a place at the table for ideas and thoughts and dialogue.

Just to add my 2 cents I wanted to share one of my favorite New Testament verses. James 4:14

"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."

I keep this one in mind because I have never liked the perspective that all we do is just waiting for some eternal reward for being a good Christian. God helps those who help themselves has always been a mantra of mine and in many ways things we need come to us not because he ordained it but by us taking actions and making choices that we need to to achieve our goals and meet our needs. Tomorrow is not promised and the day must be seized.

Of course that's my own interpretation, I don't have any special knowledge beyond my own experience.

Much love to all of you.

Nice verse I like that.

One of my favorite verses is this. I have learned to start living life one day at a time and I swear my anxiety and worry has gone away. This is a brilliant verse and combines Faith with confidence imo:

Matthew 6:25-34

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

@Omoplata
Oh wow, I would lift this person up in prayer and ask God to reveal His unconditional love to them, our/mans mere words cannot do justice in explaining Gods faithfulness to a person, the scriptures will draw a picture but God has to make it real for them and color it in, I am confident He will go above and beyond what this person needs, God is close to the broken hearted

I have a powerful testimony how God has shown me His faithfulness and His unconditional love, Im just not sure how to share it via text bro... its a better conversation than a written reply, I think it would be as long as a short novel as well haha

When people say that part of the reason they are Christian is because “imagine if there is a God and we ignore it”, then that’s not true faith. If any part of you is worshiping God and practicing Christianity out of fear or “just in case” then you are just putting on a performance. Also, believing in Christianity and practicing it are two different things. I once knew a guy that was constantly calling people the N word, sold narcotics to kids in high school, he’d slap his girlfriend around, he constantly cheated on her but he believed in God so he was a Christian 🤦‍♂️.

Your friend was the most believing Christian because he knows god and jesus are merciful even if hes the biggest shit bag on earth. That's highest level of faith

And how do you serve as an ambassador of Christ? It's a big question and the answer could go on for days but interested in a few examples. General examples are fine. Maybe your answer will help others.
Take the example of the ambassador for any country. When they visit another nation to discuss things they are expected to conduct themselves in a way that doesn’t dishonor the nation/kingdom that they are from.
And they aren’t bringing their own message, an ambassador delivers the message that the king or president wants delivered. That’s all I got for now.

Think about this scripture as a believer and realize Paul is talking about you

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” Let our words show God’s love and grace, bringing life and hope. As we speak life God honors His words and empowers the angels to carry out the life we speak over us and others.

Matthew 12:36, AMP). Careless words, once spoken, cannot be taken back; they leave scars that may last a lifetime. This sobering truth calls us to greater awareness of the power and responsibility we hold when we speak.

It costs us nothing to speak a blessing over someone you know or love, or even a smile and hello to a person you pass by can change a persons day because it blesses them... just being encouraging in a world that is full of discouragement is a blessing💪

Much love peace and grace to you bros 💪 ❤️

Praying is lovely and all and I hope the creator is listening and sending you signs and given you the gifts you need for what's coming. The devil is coming to your town, just so you know.
I typically pray afterwards….
