The Cut: Recomp in Progress

SB Labs
Great question. I don’t count macros or anything, not anymore. But I do have some rules. I don’t drink alcohol at all anymore. I don’t eat grains. I don’t eat sugar although this one I’ve kind of rolled back a little lately. I never eat before 9am (I wake up at 6am everyday). My first “meal” is typically a ratio yogurt with 25g of protein. I’ll snack on pork rinds and maybe a few slices of lunch meat throughout the day as well as drink a few protein shakes. Dinner is always ground beef and either sweet potatoes or rice with a whole avocado and a cup of cottage cheese, the plate is typically around 1000 calories total. My wife and I share it and I obviously eat more than she does. Sometimes before bed I’ll have a protein bar like a Barebell or one of the Costco brand ones.

Under 2000 calories daily and some days right around 1500, depending on what I’m doing. And only one actual meal a day.

The drugs are to try and prevent as much muscle loss as possible, not really to build muscle although I certainly have put on muscle despite being in a deficit. Ive been pretty disciplined and I’m creeping up on the 50 pound down mark probably in the next week or so. I know some of you guys are very meticulous in tracking macros and all that but I eat the same thing everyday so it makes it super easy to know what’s going on.
Buddy....i'm going to be real with you...you’ve got ZERO data.
No macros, no calories, no consistency. Nothing. So even if something works (which it sounds kinda like it did for awhile) you won’t know why…or how to repeat it. Before you even think about adding anything, we need to lock in a baseline. Track for a week. See where you actually are. Then you can adjust and make progress on purpose. The idea of a "recomp" here with this is just illogical.
This is why guys get stuck on a diet and alllso why guys feel like the drugs arent working anymore. You're thinking about the next cyle and have nooo idea whats going on diet wise.

We’re in different worlds man. I’m just a normal dude who was fat and is trying not to be, again. I’m not a bodybuilder. I have no aspirations to be a bodybuilder. I’m a veteran and I’ve been fit most of my life. I have plenty of data, I found what works for me and I’m running with it. When it’s time to change gears which is coming real fast I will have to recalibrate, check my diet and figure out what to eat again. What I’m doing is working even if it’s not your method. And you’re a “coach” so of course you’re going to tell me I’m doing everything wrong even if there are measurable results. It’s the business and I get it.

I’m not saying you’re doing everything wrong. You dropped 50 lbs, that’s real.
But let’s not pretend this is a ‘different worlds’ thing. Tracking intake isn’t a bodybuilding thing, it’s just how you control outcomes. Athletes, military guys, regular people…anyone who wants consistent results uses some level of structure.

Right now what worked was getting leaner. GLP-1 helped drive that. Cool. But recomp is a different phase. That’s where ‘I just eat what I eat’ usually stops working, not because you’re doing something stupid, but because you don’t have enough control to adjust when things stall. You don’t need to live in MyFitnessPal. But if you don’t at least know roughly where your calories and protein are, you’re just guessing. And adding drugs on top of guessing doesn’t fix it, it just muddies the water. If what you’re doing keeps working, keep doing it. Just don’t confuse momentum from fat loss with a system that’ll carry you through the next phase.

I think you missed some important points in my first reply to you. I was counting macros when I started. I stopped because I eat the same thing everyday. I know exactly what I’m eating day to day. Some days I add an extra 200 calories with a protein bar before bed some days I don’t. But I literally eat the same thing day in and day out.

I tried to have a cheat day when I hit 40 pounds down and it didn’t go well. I sat down at my favorite Mexican restaurant, took 3 bites of my favorite burrito and was full. So I just stick to the game plan.

And you're missing the point entirely because this has nothing to do with it. You made a thread about a RECOMP, for some reason you think that is SOLELY drug related. THat shows me you have a lot to learn. RECOMP, if thats the goal, is done by manipulating your nutrition/calories/days...something you arent doing. It is the equivalent of saying you're bulking and justtt upping the deca. Just cause you're doing it, doesnt make it correct lol

I agree with this because at some point your going to have to adjust diet and need data to make that happen

Maybe I should hire a coach to teach me the only way to meet my goal 😉

I agree with this as well, and touched on it in my last reply. We’re skimming over things and that’s fine.

*sorry, not last reply. Two replies ago. “When it’s time to change gears which is coming real fast I will have to recalibrate, check my diet and figure out what to eat again”.

I have some updated labs I’m going to post later. Anavar did what Anavar does, Absolutely killed my cholesterol. My e2 is also at 21 which for me might as well be zero. Joints hurt like hell so I knew the primo was crushing it. Everything else is good.

Dropped the primo and anavar for two different compounds for the last 4 weeks. I’m not going to say where I went yet lol.

What’s up guys. Been a slow couple weeks. Just over 3 weeks ago I dropped primo, NPP, var in favor of mast and tren. My doses have been 350 test, 350 mast, 175 tren. Other than night sweats I’ve had relatively minor sides from the tren. Some irritability at times. I was hoping the change would help me drop some weight a little faster but the opposite has happened. I’ve been ravenously hungry lol. Everyday. My weight has stayed steady at 212. I do see progress in the mirror just no drop on the scale so I’ll take it. June 1 is get well time so I’m dropping to test/hgh only for a bit with the hopes of finally getting my weight down to 190-195 before I try to hit a bulk later this summer/early fall.

Read thru the whole post, wanted to pop in and say you are doing a great job. I also had a few questions because I’m doing a recomp too right now. Started May 1st at 262 and I’m down to 248, I’m microdosing tirz and I’m only using 120mg/week of Test.

My questions:
1. You said you went a few weeks at 100mg/week and then bumped to 200mg/week, then started your cycle with 400mg. Did you titrate up to 400mg or just did the full jump?
2. Do you think the Anavar is helping with the cut? You hardly have any loose skin and I know it can help with collagen.
3. Did you start at 1iu of HGH or just jumped right into 2iu? And, from the research I’ve seen, 3.5iu, spread across 2 injections (AM/PM) is the best for lipolysis.
4. Lastly, did you add in every compound at once? Or are you familiar with each compound and your reaction to each?

Thanks!

Honestly I’m in an experimentation phase lol. This is my first time dabbling in any of this and just trying to see how my body responds. To answer your questions:
1. No titrating. Just went where I wanted.

2. Idk if the anavar has helped but I love the stuff. Been only taking it preworkout and I definitely feel a difference in my workout when I take it vs when I don’t.

3.i did start gh at 1iu. Stayed there for a month. Then went to 2iu. Then 3iu. Topped out at 4iu. No sides. I’m back down to 2iu and will probably stay there, the stuff isn’t cheap lol.

4. Like I said, I’m just trying to get a feel for each compound. While there is a ton of info on the web regarding most of this stuff, nobody agrees on anything. So trial and error is probably the way.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’ll definitely trial and error everything, that seems to be the way, obviously within reason.

Start low and slow. I’m learning a lot that’s for sure. The main thing I’m learning is anabolics aren’t a free pass to muscleville lol. You still have to be mindful of food and training and probably hydration to a greater extent.

I learned pretty early on the always on feeling I get from tren really isn’t my favorite thing so it’s best in small doses for short periods of time. I learned that mast is probably going to cost me a ton of money over the next couple years lol. Anavar is awesome but absolutely destroys your lipids in no time.

Recognizing the difference between high and low E can be tough, especially early on. Once your joints start aching you know you’re crashed. I haven’t had any nipples itching or anything from being to high but I get moody and irritable. Which also happens when you’re crashed.

Great work dude.

I know you’re not a BBer, in any case, a coach can really help not spin wheels too much.

Keep it up!

How lean is lean enough? Lol. My wife is telling me my face is to skinny, scale is telling me I’m still 19% but my eyes tell me I’m lower than that. Gonna have to draw a line somewhere.

Never take advice from family members regarding weight. lol I'm sure your face doesn't look skinny at that bodyfat.

How lean is lean enough? Whatever you want it to be. If you are happy with the look then stop. If not and want to get shredded, then get shredded. Nobody cares what a number on a scale says. Go by what you look like and the goals you want to achieve.

You gotta remember that 70% of Americans are obese. Our societal view of what is lean has shifted. I never received negative comments about my weight when I was obese. Now that I am getting close to my goal I get all kinds of stupid comments.

You do you man.

and those scales aren't accurate for BF. Throw that thing in the trash

Yea, those scales are trash.

Great progress. I’ll echo what everyone else is saying about family too, do what you wanna do, but you are getting pretty close to the point where building mass will need to happen.

Sticking to my plan, I dropped to trt yesterday. 200mg test a week. Full stack is:
200mg test weekly
2iu gh daily
6mg Reta every 5 days
.5mg cagri 3 times a week

Plan is to let my lipids recover. I have labs scheduled end of July. If everything is back in line 8/1 I’ll start my first bulk. Been in a deficit for 6 months plus spent 3.5 months experimenting with different compounds. I’m hoping I learned enough to be able to hit a pretty good 16-20 week bulk and not get too fat in the process lol.

Great work man! I’m pretty much been doing the same same last 6months just started blasting last month and like you I love Masteron and Var also destroyed my lipids instantly.. lol. Interesting you went with Tren never thought of going that route..
