Should I drop my TRT provider?

Been on TRT (200mg/week Test C) for a little over a year through an online provider. I pay $140/month subscription fee. I also take 5mg daily Tadalafil and whenever I run low they'll send in a 90 day prescription for me which is $30.

They're pretty hands off and the customer service is fine. But I think I've got a handle on on this now and with all of the quality sponsors on here maybe it's time to drop them and do my own thing.

Any thoughts? Pros or cons?

Sounds like a good deal, I would just keep them. Test with a script
I agree, keep the script, I’m planning on doing some cruising and traveling and it’s one thing I don’t have to think about.

I still don’t understand why ppl like to pay overpriced clinics. I guess I could understand it if you don’t have insurance but if you do, you’re just blowing money away.

I get a 6 month script from my Endo so I really just have to see him 2x year for my TRT. I then pick up my monthly dose at CVS for a co pay of $5. I pay a total of $60 for my TRT a year.

The price will depend on your insurance but I’m sure it’ll be less than what the clinic are charging.

If you plan on doing any international traveling in the near future you will need you prescription. Thats really the only reason to stay with a clinic. Save the money and stock up on gear instead.

I've a script from my local doctor. Only 100mg a week. So I just told him I stopped. I was just paying around 10 a month. But $25-$30 more from a good ugl I'd rather do that. My total testosterone was a little under 300 so he didn't want to up it.

Agree with many of the above comments

If you want to save a few bucks, since you already have a script, go to your doctor and say you'd like to go through them

Read the room --- say you'd rather have more personal oversight of your treatment... or say you'd like to go through your insurance to save money

I don’t like clinics. Over priced and the docs usually don’t know anything. They just want your levels in a certain range (regardless of how you feel) and say you’re good.

Study, research and self medicate for TRT, it’s not hard and only you know how you truly feel.

See, that's the beauty of it, you don't need to 'understand' what myself or anyone else chooses to do with our money. We all have different circumstances. In my case, no doctor in my network will write script for trt, Ive already tried. So that leaves me with going through an online clinic. I self administered with ugl for many years, but I was sick and tired of getting either overdosed or underdosed gear(all verified through bloodwork). Fortunately, I can afford the overpriced clinic. A small price to pay, imo, for piece of mind.

You’re right, you have the right to wast money on whatever overpriced thing you want.

For anyone else reading this: definitely not doctors all are like that

Some will ask about mood libido etc and discuss changing the dose with you, especially if you can get in with an endocrinologist

Plus my bias is that if you can get a legit script, get it & keep filling it regardless if you're blasting/cruising/whatever... just in case

True but that is usually like you said an endo not necessarily a clinic. There is always a few good in the load of bad.

Point stands though.

I went on my own after 10 years and did that for about 4 years. Just recently went back to my PCP for 150 mg/w, which ends up as 4 vials of 200 mg each. So I could shoot 200/w if i want. Costs me 5$ a month plus office visits 1-2 times a year and bloods that he wants to order himself and go through my insurance. I think it forces me to stay healthy and not go off the reservation. i also have all the tools in my tool box when i feel the need for speed.

I have been on Dr prescribed TRT for 25 years and it is worth it to me. Other can decide has value to them.

Joined TRT clinic hoping for more flexibility with the blood work, when I found out my doctor can order my custom lab test every 3 months I cancelled TRT clinic. Doc prescribed test C is 100mg in grapeseed oil, I prefer/use Dutch 250mg C in MCT oil. Basically the only reason I go with prescription is so that I can get comprehensive blood test thru my insurance every quarter. I also pay good labs for basic blood test monthly for piece of mind.

Shop around and find a Dr that better fits you/your goals. You have no obligation to a certain Dr, you’re paying them, get what you want, not what they want.

I have different Dr’s for different medications 🤷🏻‍♂️

Absolutely, just wanted more flexibility to do things on my own first. 100% agreed with your comment, if I am paying someone (doctor) I am the boss - it is business. My doc knew I started with TRT clinic and was not happy, when I ask him to prescribe he was cool with that including quarterly comprehensive lab tests so I am good for now.

Honestly that's not a bad deal. I've seen some trt clinics charge people $350 for a single 10ml bottle of test. Plus a yearly fee on top of that.
