So I'm looking to get a belt for my powerlifting. I had one so many years ago I don't remember much about it... yep, that long ago. So I'm looking and see a few different options and wanted to get some opinions about the options.... worth it or not, a big deal or not etc.

I'm seeing basically 5 different options.

1- 10mm vs 13mm thickness. Is it really that much of a difference? I'd probably get the 13mm anyway but maybe the 10mm leaves just the right amount of bend to fit nicely. Don't know...

2- The 4 different latches on the belts as seen below. Single Prong, Double Prong, Lever and Ratchet. Sheesh... Any thoughts appreciated.

Yeah the ratchet seems really crazy lol. I like the double prong, it's the mental note that more is better and more secure.

I thought the same thing but I read on one site that the single prong can be more stable and easier to latch up, which makes sense... only 1 to hook in. But I think I can handle the extra half second it would take to slip the other one in.

The elver seems to need a custom fit. Then I better stay the same size... lol

I went with the 2 prong black from Inzer. Time to protect the back a little as I go up in weight.

Awesome bro I have a basic one for little lifts but have been looking into a heavy duty one for when I decide to be stupid.

The only support I wear are wrist wraps for bench and military press these days. But now that my lifts are getting up there I think it's time to use them. Deadlifts and squats (around 480 each), while not huge numbers, are decent for my old ass and not wearing anything.

I power lift and my good friend is a Titan sponsored lifter who held the world record Bench Press @ 804 lbs. single ply. I use a 10 mm lever belt from titan 13mm is extremely stiff unless you are Squatting or dead lifting over 650 or 700 lbs. the 10mm is plenty imo. Remember proper lifting form does more to prevent injury than a belt does. Also make sure to press your abdominal muscles hard into the belt as this is what tightens and supports the lower back. single prong or lever is what I prefer double prong belts are a pain in the ASS especialy after you have completed a heavy lift and are ready to puke are puking or are just ready to pass out. If this doesn't happen to you you aren't lifting heavy enough and probably don't need a belt ;) lol

LOL and where were you 15 minutes ago when I ordered it...

Looks like I've got some lifting to do to get into those numbers... Plenty of room to grow!

13mm single prong is the way to go. I like levers but my waist fluctuates and I don't want to bust a screw driver out every other workout.

10mm is probably fine but if you're going big, then go big with the 13mm.

Hijack; anyone use an arch when benching and still use a belt?

That's what I was concerned about with the lever. Seems the single prong is a better choice, understandable. As for the thickness, will the 13mm 'hinder' things for a while because of it's thickness?

It might take a while to break in, but I used some saddle softener only on the part where the belt bends back to you can put the prong in. I let the rest of the belt be stiff as hell.

Thanx McDouche... I just called Inzer and switched the order to the 1 prong.

I use the elite fts P2 belt, best belt I have ever used. It comes all ready broken in due to the way it's treated. A couple of people that I recommended it to, love it as well.

Inzer, 13mm, single prong. Best decision ever.

I did smolov right when I got that belt to use it as much as possible and break it in.

On the benching, I used to but now I can't arch my back to much or my back cramps...dno what the deal with that is

I actually purchased the the rogue fitness ohio 10mm belt. I believe it's the same one mark bell wears. Awesome belt and absolutely love it. Let me know how you like the one you ordered because my buddy is on the fence as to which one he should purchase. Thanks.

I've personally got the inzer 10mm forever lever n it bruises me still after a couple months of use. 13mm is gonna be to stiff in my opinion

If I was a bigger guy I'd go with a 13mm. But for myself I feel it be overkill.

I love my belt don't get me wrong

Lol I was just messin man. How "big" are you? I wasn't that big when I bought it. Figured it will last me my entire lifting career or at least 10 years.
