So in an never ending effort to expàne my diet of "healthy food", I ve been checking out pork loin. It's macros look good. Not too much fat . Got the protein grams going for it. So what yall, think. Grill? Oven? Pan fry? Also what sides go good with it. Anyways... thanks for input

apple sauce or grilled/baked peaches go so well with it. Grill the loin to minimize the fat, as mentioned already. I've even air fried one with great success. Definitely use the rack piece to keep it up out of the fat that will emit from it

Pork loin is very lean and does not lend itself to long slow cooking well, it comes out much better when cooked hot and fast. A 1" thick trimmed pork loin slice will cook in 18-20 minutes @400 degrees to 145-150 degrees internal. Lean pork is best cooked to medium and seasoned with your favorite dry rub. For a side I like a sweet potato split in half cooked flesh side down seasoned with kosher salt and cinnamon.

No, you're right. The loin is a section of the animal that is cut into roasts and chops. It is also the leanest portion at around 7% fat, 3-4 if trimmed. There is no marbling in the loin until you get to the short end. The large end is very lean, almost too lean. That's why it's cooked hot and fast.

I never eat pork, unless its bacon bits on my scrambled eggs!

I grew up in farm country....... Have you ever seen what pigs eat?
Fuck that!!!!

I raised a few pigs fed them well. Had a cookout with this one and slaughter weight on the other one was around 400.

Pork and beef are all eyeballed for fats. They don't test whether it's 90/10 or 93/7 so you play it by ear to what you can get away with. You grill it for least fat.

Sides? Ummm starch, veges? :)
Coach knows I luv my pork! I use the Foreman Grill as it cooks both sides at the same time... so I can cram it down my throat quicker 🫨😵‍💫

I love em I throw in in the crock pot for a few hours on low with a can of low sodium low fat cream of mushroom soup and green beans. I side it with whatever usually rice and veggies, but for a real treat I will often pair it with butternut squash with butter and brown sugar. Chefs kiss meal and easy as it gets. Wash it all down with a protein shake and it's a stacked meal.
