Planking (Google : core exercise for older dudes who hate core exercises)

Only 7 weeks ago I googled that. I've never been a fan of core exercises. I only now realize it's because I've never truly hit my core. I started reading up and learning about the amazing benefits of doing planks. I mean even 2 thirty second planks 4 days a week can be body and core transformative! Not to mention release or sometimes even remove pains and back and core and neck issues.

I can't lie this was and still is a humbling movement if you have not done ever or in a long time. At first I could not even hold a 45 second true flat plank! Shaking, sweating, muscles and core popping. WTF!? In less than one minute!

But I've worked my way up and now do two 1 minute planks and then 2 30 second planks 5 days a week. My core and abs are tightening like never before, little back pains I've had that I thought were simply age, wear and tear are GONE! I'm even back into an older pair of legit Levis. For big dudes slipping into legit Levis and looking and feeling good in them can be an exhilarating experience LOL! My girl likes my new exercises too she started doing them WITH me after seeing my results. So bonus for me my hot younger gal is laying there in her tight yoga pants and cut off t shirt just TRYING to make me lose focus most days I do it now too. Thank God it's only a couple minutes ha! :p

Anyway fellas, old and young, give planking a try it isn't just for hipsters and it really is an easy add in to daily routines! 🏋️‍♂️

Ive done crunches/hanging leg raises and hyper extentions 100reps of each ED... Been doing this since 1988 from my 1st coach who told me to do these before every W/O.... He had a tiny waist.. So I took his advice and I still crank em (and all my clients) everyday! Planks are definitely a good exercise but wont build etched abs.

Core workout is certainly neglected, but I'll tell you what is heavily neglected.

Glutes, hips and hamstrings. These need to be tied in with core workout.

I'm not talking hardcore training then, I'm talking about the balance.
This comes from a guy that has lived with lower back issues.
The back issue is an old sustained injury, but a strong core, that aligns with strong glutes and hamstrings, will not only give a solid foundation with someone's posture, but the mobility, nagging pains and things like that will literally disappear.

Don't forget about those hips too.

So many of us walk around with tight hips.

Tie all of these together, and people will feel amazing.

Great post OP 🔥🔥

I found after years of core work, planks are easy but I don't think Ive ever tried it for 23 min. You must have been shaking like you just ate 160mg Clenbuterol!
Oh ya haha it wasn’t easy. I had broken blood vessels from straining in my arms and shit after. Everyone was cheering me on though it was do or die lol 😂 core memory that began my lifting journey honestly.

I do the leg raises too I fing hate em but love em when done!

Planks are one of those things that look easier than they really are. lol
That is exactly what I've been saying for 7 weeks now lol! Especially after your first week or so you start doing the stiff and correctly and shaking and you're like "a haaaa ! " I love those moments don't get many in 'lifting' any more whoudathunk a plank would do it! :)
