Olive Oil vs. Seed Oil: Which One is Healthier?

by Matt Weik, BS, CSCS, CPT, CSN Plant oils are a pantry and kitchen staple used for cooking practices like sautéing, frying vegetables, making sauces, drizzling onto pizzas, and preventing pasta from sticking together. Olive oil and seed oil are popular plant oils, each with unique characteristics. But which is actually better for you? […]

Ive heard a couple of doctors on podcasts say that certain seed oils being bad was over sensationalized. Wish I could remember the specifics but my other half does all the cooking and only uses olive oil anyways. Better safe than sorry.

I make our butter from raw cream we get at the farm down the road. Raw milk isn’t legal here but there’s a work around. You “buy” a share in a cow, basically a weekly commitment for X gallons of milk. We even get A2 protein milk here from the Mennonite’s. Day and night difference from store bought.

Hello! I saw your post. I also had skin problems, and do you know what helped me? Olive oil! Yes, regular is olive oil good for the skin and it contains antioxidants, vitamins E and K, which moisturize the skin. It is a natural product without chemicals. Apply a small amount of oil before bed, just make sure you are not allergic.

Nice
I was reading somewhere that if you cook Olive Oil or use it to spray on a pan before cooking it is bad for you? Anyone confirm that?

saw some stuff online that most "olive oils" are just vegetable oil with like 10% olive oil mixed in. i didnt fact check it though so no idea

id still prefer lard or butter

Seed oils aren't the problem. Lionic acid is good for you it's an efa. It has positive health benefits. The problem is corelation. Most fat fucks eat deep fried foods. Most food is fried in vegetable oil. Most highly palatable foods are made with them. Fat fucks eat mainly highly palatable foods.
being fat is what causes health issues not the food that is used to get fat. When people begin eating healthier and less they tend to lower the amount of vegetable oil consumed.
A person eating a calorie deficit getting to healthy bodyfat on "bad" foods will have improved health markers.
A person who is fat from eating "good" food will have bad health markers.

Seed oil also isn't a category of food, they're vegetable oil.

I don’t even use actual oil anymore. Just spam spray olive or extra virgin olive oil in my air fryer and that’s it. I wonder how the guys do it who cook with butter as far as macros? Isn’t not bad? I remember cooking omelettes with butter back in my lard days and they were really good.

I don't know. Just use it like the Italians and Greeks. I know the Italians like on average 6 years longer than us and they smoke a whole lot more. so I am sticking with my olive oil.

Well in the 60s and 70s everyone use talo/lard and butter and obesity was a rarity.

I’m sure it’s the olive oil the reason they live longer and not the fact there’s a McDonald in every corner here and 90% of people are obese from fast food

Seed oils are used in fast food, poison metabolism, and lead to obesity. Olive oil, not so much. Humans have been consuming olive oil for many thousand years. Seed oils are chemically processed and are molecularity different and not easily entered into human metabolism.

My neighbor lives in Greece half the year and owns hundreds of olive trees. They press their own olive oil and bring me back a few gallons each year. It’s much better than anything I’ve gotten from the grocery store here in ‘Merica!
