Never experimented with Insulin before in my 36yrs of training. I'm currently on Test-E/Mast-E/NPP and 10iu of HGH pre-bed daily.

My intra-workout shake is 50g of Gatorade powder, 20g EAA's, 10g Creatine and about 2g of Celtic Salt. About 24oz of fluid and I start sipping right before my 1st set and finish it on my last set. Training is about 90 minutes. I'd be utilizing Insulin 3x week pre-workout. My PWO meal is roughly 50 minutes after the end of my workout which consists of close to 100g carbs.

I have Lispro Insulin. How many units would be recommended about 15 minutes prior to training? I see insulin/carb protocols of 1u per 10g carbs up to 2u per 10g carbs.

Wasn't able to edit the above post in time.

Should I move some of the HGH pre-workout if I'm going to incorporate Insulin pre-workout?

Might find some hesitancy in responses with how YOU should utilize insulin. People f it up all the time by even not knowing how to measure it. lol for a first-time user I always have them take a pic of the dose required and you would be shocked with what I see. lol

I will let others chime in.

I’ll just recommend you dial in how you respond to insulin first. Start with post workout and go from there. I’d even start with less then 1iu for 10g of carbs and check your glucose level 1 hour later and then again 2 hours later before your next meal and adjust your dose accordingly. I would not start with preworkout until you find out how your body reacts first.

This! Dont EVER start insulin preworkout. You have no clue how youll respond and lifting heavy shit over your head is a bad time to go hypo. Start post workout for a week and monitor bg for 4 hours post injection. Have glucose tablets on your person, not nearby, on you. Once you see how you respond then you can try preworkout. Atm, closing up this growth phase, im 3iu in the morning and 5-7iu preworkout(humalog). I use 15-20 grams of carb powder per iu in my intraworkout shake along with eaa's and creatine(w glucose tabs on standby) and yes I hit 3iu of gh 1 hour preworkout and 4iu post workout pre-bed. Workouts are in the pm. Also grab some .5ml u-100 syringes. The smaller body and more detailed hash marks make it much easier to accurately measure the tiny amounts you need. The amounts will look like its a ridiculously small volume. Don't be fooled its supposed to. And avoid high fat meals during the insulins active window and immediately following. Allll of this is just my opinion and how I do it. Everyone's opinion is going to differ but this works for me.

Start with post workout when you're home 1st. See how you respond. 5-7 units

I'm an RN, so I know how to read an insulin syringe. I've never personally used insulin before though.

So start PWO. Is 5u per 50-60g carbs (white rice) ok?

What are the nutritional values of this gatorade powder? What is it made of?

Intraworkout, you just need some simple dextrose or maltodextrin. I use WAXY MAIZE.

Basically, between your workout and waiting for your food, you'd be going over two hours without eating, with nothing but a shaker!?

Bring your food to the gym, my friend. Keep some sugar on hand. And like a lot of people have already suggested, try the safer approach first. You can think about taking insulin preworkout later.

This
Its how I start people on it..... Pre-W/O is superior IMHO but you need to learn how you react to Slin, so Post W/O is the way to learn.
REMEMBER 10 grams of carbs PER IU of Insulin. So for numbers sake 10units of slin you'll need 100gs of carbs. That's the safe starting #
Lispro acts FAST so be ready and always, always keep some glucose tabs, a can of Coke , OJ, ETC. handy at all times.

Bad things happen when you mess up slin. If ur not a competitor why utilize slin at all.

I’d listen to everyone here. Learning it pre workout is absolutely wild. That’s like saying you want ti get your learners permit to drive and your first time in a car is in a formula 1 car….

Post workout. You figure out your starting dosage…then cut that in half and see what happens cuz odds are you’re going to want to start too high.

I remember years ago slin was a huge topic for like a month…people were considering all kinds of crazy starter dosages.

Also you adjust your dosage for what you’re eating and not the other way around is the rule of thumb I’ve heard. So it’s not so much “I am going to take z units of insulin so I NEED x number of carbs ” it’s how you get really fat or potentially fuck your self up : instead it’s “I am going to eat x number of carbs so I’ll take y units of insulin”

I was smashing shit tones of carbs throught the day. Pre work out carbs ect.
8 meals per day. So i wasnt worried about going hypo.
I only got to 4ius and that was my limit.
Ive never had pumps so bad they hurt.
Couldn't wipe my ass on back day.
500test 500 deca 9ius gh daily 4ius humalog before working out. Shit was insane.
Now im kinda hypoglycemic 👌

I like some Humalog Pre.... Like you said, the pump is crazy. Slin pumps are the best.

Lots of good advice here!

Definitely go with the smaller insulin pins. The ones I have the first tick mark is off by an IU and it counts by 2’s. So that’s automatically an additional 2iu of insulin.

So I experimented, PWO, with the Lispro. Took 6u for 100g carbs. Felt absolutely fine. I'll do a little more experimenting before actually using the Insulin Pre-workout.

My plan, when I'm ready, is this:
  • 60 minutes pre-workout inject 5iu HGH.
  • 15 minutes pre-workout inject 5u Lispro.
  • Start sipping intra-shake (50g Dex, 20g EAA's, 10g Creatine) on 1st set. Take final sip on last set. 90 minute workout.
  • 40 minutes post-workout inject 10u Lispro.
  • Eat post-workout meal (100g Carbs, 75g pro)

The time between the 1st inject of Lispro and the 2nd inject is approx 2.5-3hrs.

How does this sound? Would use this protocol 3x week.

Or should I just use the pre-workout 6iu Lispro with 60g carb intra shake and NOT use the additional 10iu before the post-workout meal?

I would use Karbolyn, the orange one with 35 servings 50 g's of carbs per. Dextrose is too fast acting.... Karbolyn is Fast/Medium/Long Carbs... Made from Potatoes, rice and corn. Its my pre W/O go 2.....
Some like HCBD but I can only find it with 15g's of carbs per serving.

Remember, you are what you eat on insulin.... even healthy fats will be shuttled into fat cells. Eat fat free everything in your Slin window/windows.

Also Humalog injected IM hits faster, has a shorter peak and duration.

You may be overlapping the duration... Humalog usually has a 4 hr window with a peak 2 hrs after shot. You should be fine as long as you have carbs throughout.

Then WTF start now? Seriously, why?

insulin has nothing to do with workouts, it has to do with meals, if youre an RN you should know this. humalog has a 2 hour bellcurve that is supposed to be timed release to act like your natural response to eating a meal.
I would first check you BG with a meter and see how you are responding to the HGH, if it is raising your fasting glucose then a little insulin with meals would help.
my personal opinion is I would run insulin solo to see how you respond to it before mixing it with steriods. and carry glucose tabs or glucose shots ( they look like 5 hour energy drinks not an injection) they are only like 2 or 3 dollars they will raise your BG quicker. low blood sugar can feel like hungar or your legs cold sweating, or lightheaded and dizzy, for me I feel a rapid loss of strength, usually I will be doing something like carrying 2x4s and all of a sudden I cant even lift the end of 1 2x4 and I will start shaking. You may expirience something different.
Just saying

Can't give you a number on this, and nobody on a forum should. Lispro is fast acting, and a wrong dose can drop your sugar dangerously low mid-workout, which is how people pass out or worse. Those carb ratios online are for diabetics with a doctor adjusting them. After 36 years of training, I'd say it's not worth the risk.
