Being strong is something that I've always prided myself on.
As far as "gym lifts", I'm known to be one of the strongest guys at the 2 gyms I go to pound for pound AND with solid form. (Not always perfect but pretty good)
I was just having a conversation with one of my guys about a hack squat he started using and, he said he doesn't have to load a million plates on it currently to get the rep ranges we target. My response was "that's fucking great, loading a million plates on a machine sucks".....
Ten years ago I would have slapped me if I heard me say that lol.
Since I'm stronger then your average gym bro, I always liked stacking plates on a machine. Not just for progress sake but, a little part of me always thinks, "yeah whoever is looking, I'm gonna fucking crush this heavy ass weight for way more reps then you think I'll get, envious little fella".
Is it ego? Yeah.
Is it pride? Yeah.
Is it stupid? Absofuckinglutely lol.
BUT, it made me a better bodybuilder, even though I'm shit at best.
These days, I dread filling up these damn weight horns knowing I'm just going to have to unload them again. Out of the machines that I use (I primarily use machines especially on upper because of the wrist) I am currently using all the room, or stack on 3/4 of them. Then I gotta unload the fucking things, and my lower back aches, and I'm old and kinda fat and out of shape and hate cardio which is what loading and unloading all these fucking weights turns into.
I'm getting old guys......I might just find a training partner who wants to learn and he can unload and load all the plates to "make him stronger" because that's how I would sell it
