I have good days and bad days.. but if I do 3 sets of BB squats - I can barely get out of bed the next day and it lasts for a good 3 days before I feel "OK".

Something HAS to give.. can this be fixed with surgery? Does anyone else have this kind of pain?

Yesterday I said fuk it and went heavy on BB Squats and this morning I couldn't even hike my leg to tie my damn shoes.

Can anyone help? Damn me!

I do lower back stretching all the time for my condition, but I never helps. It's almost crippling. I'm walking around like a fuking grandpa this evening.

Deadlifts don't hurt me as much as squats.. the bottom movement of BB squats absolutely KILL ME. It's like the weight compresses on that nerve and fuk me up EVERYTIME.

Unfortunately I'm an expert on the damn sciatic nerve pain. 7 years solid waking up with sciatica bad. The only thing to do is have surgery, but my spinal surgeon said for me, there is a possibility of going numb in more areas than I already have now. What I do instead, because I'm not going to take that chance, is every morning I take a hot shower and touch my toes as the hot water relaxes the hamstrings. Then I pull knee to chest across my body and deep stretch. Also I medicate with kratom every day. It works like a charm for me. Sorry you're hurting bro. I know it sucks the life out of you when you're in that much pain.

What strand Kratom are you running? I've been chugging White Vein and Green Malay... helps a ton

Green indo is supposedly a good one for pain. Unfortunately the place I get mine doesn't specify the strain except by color. Red,Green,Yellow, & purple(Maeng Da). The Maeng Da doesn't help with pain very much, but I have success with yellow in the morning, green evening, red right as I'm falling asleep.

I love the Green strands.. I can't take them in the evening though because the opiods don't let me sleep. Makes me feel loops as fuk.

The red puts me to sleep and I wake up in the morning feeling very little sciatica pain. But it's different for every person.

Well I don't know if I can help but I DO know what you're talking about. I have sciatic nerve pain too. Intense sometimes. I know what you mean about it being difficult to get out of bed in the morning. I have resorted to simple dumb bell squats. They are quite painful but I push through. I have subbed with leg press when I just don't feel like dealing with the pain. Deadlifts are killer too so I've resorted to rack pulls, they don't hurt as much. The stretches are good. They help a little. Also someone suggested taking folic acid supplements. Sounds like you are getting some relief from Kratom though. Good Luck and stay healthy.

I've never tried DB squats.. I still feel like it would hurt. I have been doing heavy DB step-ups that hit my quads pretty good. Leg press machine and extentions ect ect are about the only thing I can get gains from. I throw in DB step ups and lunges towards the end when I'm gassed so I don't have to go as heavy to hit failure.

I would seriously get surgery done if I knew it was safe.. scary shit though!

The only reason I do squats at all is because someone told me once that the very best exercises are the ones where you are moving your body through air. Squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, push-ups, lunges etc. I keep forgetting about step-ups! Thanks for the reminder. LOL! I also try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio per day. I haven't researched surgery. The thought of surgery IS scarey. I'm just kind of living with it. I keep thinking it's an "age" thing! Let me know if you come across some new discovery in the gym that works with this kind of issue.

I have developed sciatic nerve issues over the years, and it sucks. Quiting a deadlifts and squats is not going to happen. What works for me is mobility stretching, and massages.

Drugs aren't going to fix this. Increased mobility and the *correct* stretches will. Low back stretching down little, to nothing to stretch the muscles around the sciatic nerve.

Try the Seated Piriformis stretch. You should immediately feel the tension. If that doesn't drastically help, and I'll be surprised if it doesn't. Google a guy named Kelly Starrett followed by sciatica pain.

When the tissue surrounding the nerve gets tight and constricting, you get sciatica. And honestly, it's a very simply fix. It just requires some effort on your part, and the willingness to endure some pain.
