So many of my Forearm muscles just over power my bicep in Curls and Every Pulling Motion. it seems very Hard for me to Activate my Bicep without my forearm getting Worked as well.... This is from a Aesthetic view point. ' AKA popeye " Arms lol. I have done many things over my life that has led to crazy Grip Strength and hence over powering Forearm problem. Any thoughts ? Others with Issue ?

Have you tried curling with an open hand? Sometimes we have a tendency to grab the weight too hard and then automatically engaging the forearms.

Hmm. No . Preach Curl Machine should be easy enough to work on that. Thanks

100% form and movement related. Can you engage your biceps with an open handed isometric curls? If not, that would be the first thing to work on. Then and only then move up to very small dumbbells.

Straight bar curls shouldn’t noticably engage brachioradialis at all.

So hard to help over the internet. In person I could fix this immediately.

Everyone I see curling dumbbells in the gym these days are doing hammer or modified hammer curls. Little or no rotation. Not a single guy I have approached listens. “I got this bro.” is the typical type response. I no longer try.

so you are saying Supinated Curls with an Isometric hold on Alternating Arms....And use open hand as much as pos. Thanks for your insight.

Yes. Just sit down, stare at your bicep and bring your open, supinated hand up, squeezing the bicep until it almost cramps. You absolutely need to make this (pardon the cliché) mind/muscle connection.

All of my new clients, used to using too much weight with shitty or no form, start this way. I have them perform the movement and squeezing until they start to cramp right where they should be feeling it. Then and only then we start with HALF the weight they think they should be using.

I had a guy in the gym the other day (yes, some random guys I try to help appreciate it) doing hack squats. We had 25s on each side and by four sets, he was miserable. Why? Because I made him feel EVERY rep.

Yes For what ever reason I have a Very Poor Mind Muscle connection with my Bicep.......Again thanks for more insight, I will go back to Basics of what you are saying, I have no ego about holding small/ lighter weight if it will make me progress forward. Thank you

Dude, I curl 35lb dumbbells normally. On days that I have that little extra, I might use 40s. I don’t exactly have small arms. Still, nearly every arm day a guy or guys be next to me, arms as big around as my dick, swinging bigger dumbbells than me. Aside from looking at your fucking phone all the time, the singlemost biggest obstacle to progress is ego. Who fucking cares about PRs or measurements? If appearance is the goal, these things simply do not matter. They are cool to chase but NOT what should be the prime motivator.

Good luck!

EVERYTHING John said should be considered gospel. No fluff or kooky stuff with that guy. I miss him very much and his legacy will always carry on.

Ok so I tested that Parallel to the Floor Open Hand Curl from the video, and my Forearm and Even Tricep is flexing Harder than my Bicep....Hmm I for sure have some Work to do.....At least I'm headed in the Right Direction....And Understood something Goofy was going on..ahahaha

You may want to change the position / angle of your arms. Also, just as Coach said, contract your bicep and focus on it at the top of your rep. Squeeze it and make it cramp until you know exactly where that muscle is.
