Bible Thread

Just a side note. The bible wasn't translated from forgotten languages to other languages, to other languages, ad infinitum. Common misconception. The vast majority was Hebrew and Greek and both languages are well known. Aramaic is in there as well, but it wasn't some lost language either and came into use after hebrew. Just because I don't speak french, doesn't make it a lost language. Merci.
A bit of miswording on my part. The language spoken in the time of the bible and before used the same words but the meanings changed, akin to our times; bad, the meaning of Democrat and Republican have over the years morphed back and forth so much most people today believe it was the democrat's of today that were the ones that owned slaves, and the like was what I was trying to get across. Context was different, words spoken before other words modified the latter words, missing preambles to stories missing, the MEANINGS of the words were lost not the actual words/language itself. But as far as a bible translated from Hebrew and Greek you will for a ton of different English translations for the same passages unless they were unified at some point and agree upon but the transcribers. And no one can argue the telephone game effect when handing stories down over generations. How anyone can put any "faith" into the bible is beyond me.

The Masoretes recognized the inherent possibility of human error when copying the Hebrew Bible. They attempted to combat errors by adding innumerable notes — masorah — in the margins of manuscripts to safeguard the text.

Don't know if you ever researched how the scribe's kept accuracy but it's pretty thorough. When they wrote notes in the margins, they would count the number of letters in a book notating which letter was exactly in the middle of that book. There were many other tests and if a book failed the test it was discarded.

"Later, an entire treatise was created to guide scribes on the proper procedure for preparing a scroll and producing an accurate text. It seems that the various communities of scribes began to unify at the end of the first century AD. This ultimately led to a standardization of authoritative biblical text that, albeit not intentionally orchestrated, was an inevitable result of historical circumstances."

No back peddling, not really sure how you come to that. Clarifying a thought isn't back peddling. Nothing I sad in my follow up contradicted what I said in my OP on the subject. Expanding on a word or phrase doesn't change the meaning of it, it just helps the reader understand the writer's meaning, and helps prove my point about different dialects and meanings of words and phrases from different areas let alone eras, so thanks for helping to prove my point.

@Learningtopump, I was an atheist for the majority of my life, but because of my own experiences, my beliefs were changed. Not that you need help, but I'd like to help explain atheism because sometimes Christians have a difficult time understanding "how" someone could be a non-believer. I have a different way of explaining it. Well, I like to explain it like this...

Anthropologists have estimated there are more than 18,000 different deities that have been worshipped by people throughout time. Christians reject 17,999 of those. Atheist reject all the same plus 1 more. It's that simple.

Regardless, I appreciate you. I appreciate that you are here challenging people's beliefs and I respect that. I appreciate your difference in perspective. It's obvious you are an intelligent person, and personally, I'm glad you're sharing your beliefs and perspective with everyone. Much respect!

WOW, thanks. I'd only take issue with one thing you said; that I'm intelligent. LOL I struggle most times getting my point across. I have so many thoughts in my head running around wanting to get out, that it sometimes colors the one I'm actively trying to convey.

Well bro, sometimes getting the point across has nothing to do with the sharpness of the point and everything to do with the toughness of the target that its hitting. Razor blades won't stick into granite, no matter how hard you throw them.

Matthew 5 44-48

But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

What a lot don't understand is that our perfection has been provided through Jesus not earned by us. God loves ALL of us and is not willing that any of us should perish but He gave us the power to make our owns decisions. Freewill. If any man perishes it is by his own doing. God is blameless.

I agree, I want to expand on this:
Be aware and conscious of how you speak to and about people, even in casual conversation we can quickly lose control of our words if we dont think before we speak. Our words have the power of life and death, that power is in the tongue.
You dont want to be partaking in word cursing your enemies, friends or family for that matter who are either lost already or maybe going through some rough times.
Remember how Jesus cursed the fig tree with His words because it bore no fruit in it’s season. In the same way we can inadvertently curse those who are not for us or those who blatantly come against us. Speak life and please God with your words, vengeance is His anyways!

Hit me between the eyes. Been on my mind a lot lately. Being dealt with I believe. The way I carry on in here at times is not exactly noteworthy. I've had a dark sense of humor all my life. Time to make some changes? I believe so. Thank you for posting this. I needed to hear it. Kind of a confirmation I think. I'm a work in progress so bear with me on this. I'm trying. God bless. 🙏

Hey brother, we are all a work in progress and we are all the body of Christ at the same time, “Iron sharpens Iron"

It is definitely the most difficult concept, for me, to love thy enemies.
Especially in the heat of the moment. Takes a conscious effort to open my hand and let go of the hammer. Pause and take a deep breath. Trying to remember where God has brought me from and how miserable of an existence I had back then and then transfer that to the one in front of me that's going through the same or worse and needs mercy the same as me. A persons entire demeanor changes right before your eyes when they're met with a calm tone instead of reciprocating anger.

Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Hard to do sometimes. Can't be done if they get physical. Then you have no choice but to do what must be done.

What honestly scares me worse than any other single thing is vain religion. Religion never saved anyone. It's just a bunch of rules and regulations that are impossible to keep. And the struggle in trying to keep them is debilitating. Being grafted back into God in spirit is where the personal relationship with God happens and the real evidence of Him is undeniable. You can talk yourself blue in the face trying get someone else to understand this but they never will until it happens to them and only God can do that. Not rules.

Youre not battling the individual, the scriptures tells us this:

Ephesians 6:12
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places"

Once you see the spirit before you see the person; you can start praying for the person and battling the spirit behind that person through prayer and fasting. This is a life game changer for anyone willing

I have a question. Since Jacob's sons were the 12 tribes of Israel and Jesus is from Judah. Does that make Israel/Jacob like a 6th great grandfather to Jesus or what's the relationship there ?

Romans 8:1

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:39-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3 John 2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Grasp the message in this it’s super powerful and often overlooked

amplified translation

Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed andprosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].
