Very high HCT - now what

I have to admit it has been very hard for me not to pin any Test. It's only been a few days and I of course feel fine, maybe even better. But my mind if fucking with me, just as it would if I skipped workouts. Abuse, or at least the potential for it, is a real thing with ped's.
It comes down to if you can tolerate a little discomfort for a month or deal with escalating health issues from blood that continues to thicken into the 60s. The month off is good all the way around to let things clear. You won't even crash until mid week 3 and you can use hCG the whole time, 3x a week 500-750iu, which softens the blow.

I stopped using my CPAP for a few months. Can’t stand using it, which caused my HCT and Red Blood Cell count to jump way up. Needlessly to sayI use it every night now
So here is my question. I never had High hematocrit until TRT. If I have untreated sleep apnea, wouldn't I have seen high HCT on all my previous bloodwork? I snore and comfortably sleep with my mouth taped close.
This high HCT is becoming a problem, I'm not pinning Test for the time being but can't give blood because my hemoglobin is too high. I'm thinking of giving myself a therapeutic phlebotomy at this point. Even with a Dr's order, I cant find anyone to do it.

When I’ve run really low dose trt (100 mg a week), my hct sits at around 15 as soon as I go above 200 mg a week, my hct tends to sit at 16.5-17.5

You can’t go do ate at your local Red Cross/blood bank?

Hgb no

Hemoglobin *** not hematocrit

Cant donate more than every 120 days at ARC in my state and I did a power red in July. I went elsewhere and they all test your hemoglobin first. Mine was 20.3 so just out of range. They cnat use the blood if there is too much iron. I only take 140mg/week. Clearly too much for me though.

Are you well hydrated? I usually try to get a gallon in prior to bloods.
But my last 3 bloods had all elevated 'Crit and RBC's I was also
on cycle for the past 3 bloods .. Blast or cruise.
I just got bloods back yesterday and the doc told me to donate a pint,
so I did this AM. Retest in 4 weeks.
140mg of testosterone a week is giving you high 'crit????
I think its your CPAP. I know they suck and I cant wear the full mask,
or I just take off in the night. Nose buds are OK but not ideal.

If you have a cool Dr ask for a script for Phlebotomy as needed ( by bloods)

I have a script for phlebotomy and can't get it filled. Everything is difficult in my state. I will look into a cpap but I don't think I have apnea. I am very well hydrated. Drank over a gallon before my last bloods.

How were your WBC and Platelet count ?

There’s a genetic condition called polycythemia ver which causes elevated hgb/hct but also elevated WBC and Platelet count

I gave you the fix. See above. You might have to take a month off here and there. Stop donating blood while your on your TRT because you will rebound. If you take a month off like I said it should go down to ~50 plus or minus. Then donate after 3 weeks off to bring it down another 3 points. Then the last week off will prevent the rebounding red cells. Then you can start back on your TRT at ~47-48. Then after a few months test again and when it hits 56% do the whole process over. you know at this point tat you are 57% at 5 months. So you can probably TRT for 5 months, take a month off like the protocol says and then start again.

I am following your advice. But I am pretty symptomatic so it's time for blood letting. The issue is I can't donate or find a source for a therapeutic phlebotomy for the reasons I explained. My new question was about sleep apnea. Let's assume I have it. Why did it never result in high HCT until I started TRT?

WE don't know that is the case. You would need a sleep study. If your neck girth increased substantially that could point toward it as a problem.

Also, try supplementing w Naringin… 500 mg twice daily

Some evidence it helps decrease HCT

How do you know your HCT wasnt high before TRT ?

Solid. Most people rarely get bloodwork mor than once a year. Or twice if on legit TRT.

Mine is always been just a tad outside the reference range since I’ve been on TRT. I would drink close to a gallon of water before I did blood work, didn’t seem to make a difference until this last time I drank the same amount of water, but this time had a good amount of electrolytes in it. Hydration was better and my marker came down

I finally had time to read through this. Seems to offer a means to raise ferritin post blood donation so donation can be used as a consistent, benign means of addressing high HCT. Thank you.
I followed the protocol and it worked fairly well. My ferritin was 15 when I tested in August. As of yesterday it was 50. I was hoping it would be a bit higher but I felt like shit at 15. Definitely feeling much better now and will keep this in the toolbox moving forward.

15 is very low. Did donations cause that?

No because I hadn't donated in over a year. I did donate before I ran the protocol as my red counts were high. I'm not 100% sure yet why it was so low. Didn't feel good at 15!

@seamusmagoo this won't help you now obviously, but something to keep your eye on for the future and a further research item for you.

Amazing what happens to total test only 3-4 weeks off trt. That's half my pre-trt natural total. I'm surprised I don't feel worse. I'm shrinking but feel ok. I attribute that to the 3 iu daily of gh.
Thought my CBC numbers would be better after TC vacation and donating a pint 48 hrs before this blood draw. My Bilirubin is high on the bloods I just had done for my cardiologist but not yet out of range so my body is coping with the excess RBC. But how long does it take for HCT to come back into range naturally? Do I need to donate reds only once I'm eligible again later this month (Red Cross will only do it every 120 days)?
I want to restart trt at 70mg/week but I'd like to be back in range. Looks like this might be a 2 month vacation.

As others have said, hydrate, hydrate hydrate.

Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice is amazing for high hematocrit. I suggest giving blood every 8 weeks. It will help.

There may other underlying health issues that can cause high hematocrit.

I'm very well hydrated and started taking Naringin a couple weeks back. My blood work has otherwise never been better and I still kind of feel great. We will see, but I'm thinking I can only tolerate low dose trt. No fun but once you loose your health you have almost nothing.

So ur on gh… well shit… dial that back as well… gh has been shown in some cases to increase hematocrit… when did u start the gh in conjunction with the trt??

I can drop a ton of studies for unbelievers and naysayers… but its easier to google… growth hormones role in hematocrit; does hgh raise hematocrit… etc etc… just because u dont have a growth hormone deficiency doesnt mean it cant increase hematocrit…

Wouldn't surprise me given how effective it's been for me and how individually everyone reacts to everything. I love the GH. I started at the beginning of month 3. Got my first TRT bloods three weeks later and HCT was 57.4, total T 1450. I started at 1, then 2 and eventually 3. I will dial it back. I feel like it's sustaining me right now though, with no TC and collapsing test. Got to do it to.

Same boat with hct high..
59.7
Although it was high when did labs to get on trt..
Also did the blood donating.
Hydration things with no changes..
Pizza and peanut butter the night before??
Have to give it a whirl!!
Lol

is a full mask better to wear? I like the pillows they are so much more comfortable.

Yes the masks are much better for the higher pressure settings I have to use. BUT!!!!!!
I just cant wear them, I take it off in my sleep and don't even realize it.
So my Dr is OK with me using the nose pillows. Its better than nothing he said.
