Of course, there are the perfect guys/girls who do everything you ask, are patient, consistent and work 110%. Have plenty on my team. and these people tend to make great gains. However, the past few years has seen a massive switch in many client's attitudes and expectations. I'm going with social media. Between fake and filtered pics from influencers, genetic outliers, snake oil salesman, just plain bad/wrong info and following news/bad coaches, people are all over the place.
  • "I want to look like so and so in 3 months."
  • "Losing 2lbs a week isn't fast enough."
  • "I want to try this drug, that peptide, and that fat burner."
  • "I've only lost 16 pounds in 2 months."
  • "I want to put on 20lbs of muscle in 6 months despite training for 15 years and being 50.
So, if you reach out to a coach, only do so if you are willing to follow a plan, be patient, have reasonable expectations and stop constantly bring up new ideas every week of what to do, wanting to try this, that and everything else with zero knowledge. If you knew better you wouldn't look, the way you do.

I love what I do and wouldn't trade it for the World and luckily can weed out many prospective people I see the above traits in, but it's getting super frustrating. You help change someone's physique in 6 months in which they get a ton of positive feedback from others, and they are somehow unhappy.

I’ve noticed this a lot. I had a buddy and I emphasize had cause I caught a lotta rbe red flags early but he was constantly switching coaches and lying to one or the other or they were just taking his money or he wasn’t listening but he would always just blast so much unnecessary gear for how he looked brag about it and then get an injury or see a new look he wanted or he grabbed a bunch of new gear and wanted tk run it right away and his answer is always blame the coach they didn’t listen, I’m laying them we shoukd do what I want, my last coach did this I’ll integrate it etc. my belief is and not just cause it’s me but for many reasons is if you are paying someone and not listening your wasting your money, if you knew better you wouldn’t have to hire a coach, and most importantly what people don’t usually take into account or realize is at that point your wasting tbe coaches times as well as yours. I made a similar thread a while ago about social media and influencers etc. helping or hurting and I still think for the majority that it hurts.

I’m laying them we shoukd do what I want
This one’s comical. On one hand a client like that will ruin your name quick if you don’t have enough of a reputation and proof they weren’t listening. On the other than hand your essentially getting paid to be a yes man

is if you are paying someone and not listening your wasting your money
This. A coach can’t make changes to the plan if you’re not following it.

Can we get rid of all strenuous compound movements and introduce yoga ? I think yoga will create a much better muscle building routine
Cracking Up Lol GIF

Someone spends lots of money on coaching, then doesn’t like what plan they are given. Then hires another coach hoping to find for a coach that will tell them what they want to hear I’ll be your coach for X amount of $$ and tell you what you want to hear 👍🤣

im a lot like ur clients. im impatient and almost always have a knack for getting my way. thats what leads to the extremism and drug pushing. having some fella like you tell me no i cant do that would definitely put a damper on things for me. so i dont see why some dumbass with my sort of mindset would ever hire a coach

*dumbass for hiring a coach with that personality type, not dumbass for being like me. obv 😎

It's like me knowing very basic to little plumbing. I hire a plumber who has 25 years of experience with a thriving business and great reviews. I then stand over him will he's working telling him maybe we should try this, that or that he isn't working fast enough and that my friend's plumber was giving better results.

in all seriousness this is a good post. Idk why guys try and hire somebody to do a job then try and tell them how to do there job .

Also if you’re going to do something in life. I’m a firm believer of give it your all. Don’t slack. Don’t cut corners. Be the best you can be at everything u do in life. U don’t gatta be the best person to ever do it but people should practice being the best they can for them selves, and have realistic views on the out come of things.

Trust the process. Not the influencers
I don’t even think influencers are solely to blame. I think most people think the gear is the missing piece to their ultimate gains and don’t realize that plays the smallest part of it.

I can have a client blast 2g of gear and he’s not going to look like he lifts if he’s not training hard consistently and half assing his diet but they don’t want to hear that

I just recently hired a coach again. No way I'd spend my money to not follow his plan as he laid it out. If you don't trust your coaches process then you hired the wrong person.

True. I was the guy throwing the kitchen sink at myself. Didn’t really do much other than help my fear of needles and mess up my bloods. But with a coach now I have to follow what I’m told. When I have a question I get an answer. And I listen. But I can see how some people need to drop the ego. I’m still learning how to do that

Social media and the touched pics are a big issue. Everyone wants to look like that immediately. I even had a guy telling me "If I took steroids I'll look like you in 3 month". I always tell people what we do is a marathon and not a sprint.

We are in an instant society where people feel entitled to have haverthing right now. And are outraged when they don't have it. Seems to apply everywhere. When i mention personal responsibility for where a person is at or what they have, that message is not well accepted. But then i just laugh and go about my life as i have no complaints withy where i have put myself.

I had a guy come to me that was wanting to gain some size. Hes 6'1 155lbs.

Tells me "diet and training really doesn't work for me. What do I need to take to get bigger." SMH.

I told my wife this comment and she said "Is there a pill for stupid?"

The one that shocked me, made me cringe and left me speechless all at once was the first time I heard "I want an Instagram body".

It really sucks because I love helping people, but everyone knows it all now because they got it from the internet. Also, maybe 20% of my clients inspired me, the others just caused me frustration.
I don't lie and don't like to be lied to. If you can't tolerate being lied to, then coaching ain't going to be your thing.
If you are just in it for maximum clients and income, I guess you can do it. But if you really care, it sucks life from your soul.

It’s insanity a lotta the stuff coming out now and and some of the mindsets not that I give a shit but I also feels it gives guys like us a bad stigma a lotta times. Me personally I don’t argue a plan I might ask some stupid or detailed questions cause as well as maximize my physique performance etc I also went to increase my knowledge in the areas that I’m lacking but in the type of person where I thrive on a schedule a regiment etc. if the plan says eat dog shit for 3 meals I’d probably just ask how to cook it Lol. But in all seriousness if you have a coach and follow everything to a tee and than something isn’t working I feel as a client you absolutely have the right to steer the convos in a different direction etc. but you are paying someone to give you a plan tk follow and to tell you when your fucking up or need to pick it up. You aren’t hiring a cheerleader and if you are than Shame on you in my opinion. Did I wanna do my cardio when I was exhausted at fucking 830 last night absolutely not but it was in the plan I was told to do it so you know what I told myself don’t be a bitch outwork everyone that would have said it’s ok to miss one day and I went and got it the fuck done it’s not difficult. Excuses , poor planning or time management, not executing the workouts correctly in a sense where you push yourself maximize your reps etc

Well said. I’m sure I ask my coach some dumb shit but that’s how I learn. And I am sure he gets frustrated……… but when I tell you he gets results. It’s worth it
You're an awesome client.

Also, I had a few of my guys contact me worrying/asking if they were who I was talking about. The ironic part is those guys are my best and most adhering ones. You know who you are.

I was speaking in generalities and NOT one specific client. I'm speaking for other coaches too as you can see above.
