Nick Walker out of 2024 O?

SB Labs
I love this as a lesson for and enforcement of what I used to tell guys when I coached bodybuilders.

"Even the pro's bail out days before a show, so you as a casual amateur quitting three weeks out is nothing to be ashamed about."

In my head of course, I think "You total fucking pussy!"

But this also backs up my disgust with the whole "I don't compete, but I could if I wanted to." You will NEVER know until you are standing shoulder to shoulder on stage in a banana hammock.

This is this guy's entire life and job, yet he bails out from the biggest stage of bodybuilding in the world.

I personally think he is one of these delusional guys that thinks he is an Olympia hopeful, but in reality, barely cracking a top five guy. The reality is he isn't top five anymore because while he was "improving", better guys have come up. He will NEVER hold that Sandow any more than Hunter will. Great bodybuilders, but not Mr. Olympia material anymore.

Excellent post as usual. I just got done with prejudging and God damn the work and dedication we put into competing is nuts. AND this is just coming from some dude who will never go pro or has great genetics, just someone who loves it and gives it 110% every day of every year. If this was my job with sponsors depending on me...Pulling out is NOT an option. He pulled out because he wasn't in shape. He had as much if not more time than any other competitor. Unless it's truly a bloodwork issue that is putting him at risk...It's hard for me to understand.

Nick 100% realized he couldn’t crack top 5. In his mind, I’m sure he doesn’t want to move backwards in placing. Nick believes in Nick more than anyone else. I love his work ethic, but I don’t know that this was a smart move. I think his peak was last year, but we will see! Anything can happen next year.

Everyone on ig is talking about how he should switch coaches to Hany. Apparently, Hany wouldn’t take him on when he left Matt previously, so he went with Dom. Dom wouldn’t let him push the drugs Matt did, and he wouldn’t be his therapist like Matt lol.

I love Nick’s heart and soul, but I don’t think his physique is good enough to battle with the top guys.

If you mean that you just were in prejudging, then good luck tonight. If you would, share pics with me either PM or email to me. rob@coachcabo.com

Let’s say it was blood work. What could possibly happen that would be that much of a health risk in a weeks time?
I was a radiation worker in the Navy my first two years. Exposing myself to ionizing radiation wasn’t exactly healthy, but I had to get the job done.

But looking at him, he pulled out long ago. If I was supporting him with supplies and a paycheck, I’d want some reinbursement.

Matt has always enabled him. Aceto, Hany, Stehpan would be a much better choice, but just llike James Hollingshead, some guys are just stubborn.

I totally agree with you Coach, but just putting the option out there that it could be at least somewhat justifiable as opposed to, "I'm not in shape," :)

Hany wouldn’t take him on due to his drug abuse lol.

Stefan is a fucking asshole and delusional. He wanted to take me on, and then I had a email conversation with him. Pm me if you want to hear that story lol.

This is what I was wondering; if Jansen is a fan boy of sorts, giving him the whole “You got this bro!” crap that is so common.

If some of these guys saw some of the candid feedback I got from many of my dedicated, pro friends, they’d drown in a pool of their own of tears. The delta between my Universe and NA appearances are a product of that feedback.
Oh, I got more of it after the NA. Next year will be sick.
If I don’t pull out a week before…🤦‍♂️

“Not in shape” means a total failure by coach AND client.
More like “I am not in shape enough to win”, but condition isn’t going to win a Sandow for Nick.
How much does 5th place pay? FFS, money is money.

Wow first is 400K, a lot more than the 100K that was the standard the last time I paid attention. 5th is/ was only 35K... not a lot considering you're working that hard all year.. how the heck do these guys make a living if they're not 1st at the Olympia?

This is the point. There are people paying this guy to be a profesdional bodybuilder. Not just some cunt with a pro card, but a guy who eats, breathes and lives bodybuilding. It is his job and ALL he has to do.
That is in the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars for some. He isn’t even competing for money, but the fame, which is supposed to translate to profits for his sponsors.
But even $35k is a chunk of change.

My friend who is doing Wellness at the O this year isn’t going to win, probably. But she will go anyway. Evogen expects it AND she is a pro. She acts like one too.
She sure as hell doesn’t need the money, but she’ll be there.

Give her some love and follow her.

And, not trying to be a dick here, and I could be wrong, but….
If Nick quits bodybuilding, he seems like a guy who will be upselling synthetic oil to you at your next visit to Jiffy Lube.

This sucks! He probably pushed to hard to early and that worked in the past but he’s older now so what he did in the past isn’t working now. He might need a new pre contest coach. We love you Nick stay strong 💪

i never doubt nick he always proves everyone wrong... he is very strong minded and i think people underestimate the power of your mind in this sport

im sure he will come back better than ever

Pro open bodybuilding coaching is just coaching a bunch of divas. Most coaches hate it.

Speaking from what I have heard and one such from someone pretty close about 7-8 months ago Nick pushes really hard on the PEDs. Everyone in this thread knows that after you push hard for a long while you hit a point where response goes away and you fairly quickly look like shit. I think it could be as simple as that. He won the NY Pro 6 months ago. I would bet he just kept pushing with little "health break" if at all.

So, you are saying high doses for long durations is unhealthy?!?

Blasphemy!!!!

Ban this guy from ASF!

I hope it’s not a health issue.

I bet it is.

I was very involved in the sport and strongan 1996-2015? Heavily competing.

90% of guys I saw pull out of a contest had very severe health issues

Most often heart related they would try to hide u less it was a major muscle tear.

Any time they hid it, it was heart related in my experiences with them.

I fear for this kid...ever since Dallas and his 55k nanos I truly worry for these young upcoming guys the most.

The older school guys like Dexter, or even Levrone when he tried to come.back are far less risky. These young kids go crazy.

I don't know Nick but I say this with all due respect and love. I hope someone helps him stay safe.

I am betting more a mental health issue myself.
That's how I'm seeing it.

I think after his injury taking him out last year, and barely scraping the NY pro win, he started doubting himself and had him in a negative mindset.

We all know he believes he has the potential to win (I don't think that, but he does) and that means he's putting a ton of pressure on himself to reach that (unobtainable) goal.

Combo that with the fact that he probably stayed on after the NY pro to desperately try and make improvements for the O meant he's probably been blasting like a rocket ship with no break since he came back from his injury.
That shit catches up to you.

Any of you guys start following @natash_peay yet? She has been posting pics and videos. Holy shit she is in shape!

Apparently, one method is to get incredibly ripped, then thicken the skin a bit to smooth out some just before the show. I don't think they are supposed to be shredded. But I really don't get any of the women's things, except figure, physique and BB.

Wellness and bikini are getting bigger, harder, and drier every year.

The wellness girls are getting absolutely peeled and granite hard now too.

The amount of oil in wellness glutes is absurd.

@CoachCabo they will purposefully spill wellness competitors. They will be in shape early, and then spill them so they aren’t hard.

This is most common, or I also know of one wellness masters Olympian who doesn’t even carb up, so she isn’t hard and full. She goes in on no carb.

You aren’t kidding man, she’s diced to the socks right now!

Definitely think she needs to soften up a tad before show day, but props to her for the amount of hard work she had to put in to get that lean

Is he Crying cause he is weeks behind everyone else's condition, I was noticing he don't look as good as the other athletes at week 8 and week 7 and week 6 he was too far behind.

He should still compete no matter what place he makes and if he don't that's called quitting.
