Wrestler question

I've been using lamisil terbinafine for 4 days now and I'm not seeing any improvement other than it doesn't itch as much.

Ringworm (unlike Staph) is almost entirely about cleanliness. Not necessarily you but everything in the environment.

You probably already do but make sure you shower and wash clothes after every session.

TBH, a lot of the times, in my experience, it’s the mats or unclean clothing with ringworm.

It can take awhile. The medicine is working. Youre taking the oral or topical? oral Timeframe is 2-4 weeks. Topical is 1-2 full weeks. I wrestled in high school and walked on part time in college. Ive seen alot of dudes w ringworm myself included. If youre on the oral lamisil thats usually reserved for complicated cases on the scalp and shit, basically overkill if you have an uncomplicated skin infection from rw. Like @Big_Jimmy434 said the other lotrimin knocks it out quick..black red and white tube you get at Walgreens. Thats what nuked mine.

My kid is prone to staph and another great point that we learned the hard way is gym bags are a breeding ground because they carry both clean and dirty, sweaty clothes and equipment. Make a frequent habit of weekly disinfecting your gym bags. Saturate with Lysol and place in the sun. Its a bacteria and fungus incubator that is often overlooked.

Lotrimin.
As soon as u get off the mat wipe down with anti fungal/anti bacterial wipes, immediately & put on clean, dry, non sweaty clothes for the ride home.
Wait till u get impatigo or more serious infections & u r covered in blisters, or worse MRSA.
I spent 10day in quarantine in the hospital with i
Mrsa.
Train where the clean the mats constantly & correctly.
These things are going to happen though when u are training in a hardcore wrestling/grappling room with the thermastat set at 105

When I was like 12 or so, I got these rashes on either side of my body. I thought if I could resist scratching them then it would go away.

Well, they got worse.

I happen to go to the doctor for a physical. He saw them and said “ringworm.”

Gave me cream and they were gone pretty quickly.

I fought that shit for months. And I was so dumb bc it was an easy fix.

Funny thing I still resist going to doctors. lol.

How do you deal with ringworm
Over the counter ANTIFUNGAL cream. 2 things to make this successful. 1. Apply the cream at least 2x daily. Don't cover it (except if you're going to practice or the gym, you want to keep it dry and NOT damp and dark) Continue applying even after you dont see it for another week. It should start to look better after 1 week, but keep using it for a week after you cant see it.
2. There are basically 2 common types of active ingredient, OTC meds. Clotrimazole and Terbinafine. If one doesnt work, not improving after a week, switch to the other type.
My son is a wrestler and we've had to deal with this more than once. It happens. Good luck

This is gonna sound weird but being on mats and in rings my entire life imo the longer and more often you roll the stronger your immunity is to catching odd bullshit.

If I’m training at one particular cage in one particular gym it seems like no matter what I’m golden. No skin, nail issues at all.

Soon as I step into a ring somewhere different I come back with something. It’s like going to the doctor healthy and coming home from there sick as fuck. There’s a ton of little lotions and sprays I’ve learned about over the years but it’s all just bullshit imo.

I usually do a quick spray with whatever over the counter I got and I paint my nails with black nail polish. Laugh all you want but IMO the shit works. Just be careful with the spray cause some can make your skin a little sticky. Not good when someone is trying to choke you out. Gives them grip.

I'm 67 and never had a fungal infection. It's on my hip. The only place I could have come into contact with it was the gym. I always wear stretch shorts under my baggy gym shorts. How could I have contracted it?

who knows, you touched a piece of gym equipment someone with ringworm had and scratched yourself.
just put cream on it will go away 2/3 weeks.

You’ll make yourself go mental trying to figure out how and where you picked it up. It’s most likely the gym but like I said trying to prepare to not get one is a waste of time other than maybe showering at different times than usual.

You been around cats? Cats spread ringworm like crazy. Shouldn't let cats on your couch or bed but good luck stopping them lol

In ohio & Pa we just accept ring worm as part of it for the most part.
Impetigo & other more serious stuff we will stay hope though.
Just have to check everyday & get that Lotrimin on it.
