Why is it hurting so much to pin?

As of the last few months it’s been hurting like a bitch to pin. I’ll stick the needle in either my delt or glute but half of the time my muscle will have a huge spasm. Hate the feeling of this and it’s making me really frustrated when is time to pin. Does anyone have any pointers or at least experience with this? I’m only pinning test so it’s not the compound. I’m using 25 gauge needles too.

Is there a lot of scar tissue where your pinning. I have a spot on my glute that if I get near with my pin my muscle starts to spasm automatically. So I have to avoide that spot. I also have to remember to relax when pinning. Sometimes I forget I'm tensing up.

I mean I wouldn’t doubt it. That makes sense. Gonna have to get creative with where I pin

Too tense: If you're not fully relaxed, your muscle can spasm as a reflex.

Jabbing vs. smooth insert: A fast, jabbing motion can trigger the muscle to freak out. Go slow and steady.

Same spot too often: Repeatedly pinning the same area leads to scar tissue buildup and hypersensitivity.

Nerve contact: If you’re getting sharp spasms, you might be grazing a nerve.

Mellow out man… lol. But seriously. Relax. Deep tissue massages can break up sold scar tissue and help a little. Try going above or below or beside where you would usually hit.

This is great info.

I would add the angle of the needle is super important. Stay at 90 degrees and do not move.

I put my arm in a position where the muscle feels completely like jello lol. Definitely relaxed, has to be the scar tissue

I'm sure it is bro. The mellow out thing was more of a joke. good thing is most areas we hit we can go all around where we usually go and be fine. time to get creative bro. V glute, glute, chest, bi's, trap's, lats, thighs (tons of open space all up and down the thigh even though I hate pinning thighs personally) but you get what I'm saying. Maybe drop to 29-30g 1/2 in slinpin. hell even sub Q.. lol I hate the thought of sub Q for oil but people are swearing by it.

Good advice from a lot of experienced and sharp (see what I did there) dudes already. Might I add, if you are pinning 1ML or less pick up some 27 gauge 5/8 inch insulin pins they are super glute and delt and thigh IM friendly all day and night you hardly feel em' but they will hit muscle if you're pinning in correct spots. Sometimes if I'm pinning more than 1ML oils (lately and currently am) I'll even pin TWO 1ML pins of the 5/8 vs doing one 2ML shot with my 25g one inch needle jugs.

See the only thing that scares me is not getting into the muscle with these. Is there any way to guarantee?

I get it and you're not alone I see that anecdotally from some others when I or others suggest those too. Only way to know for you is to pin one and see you could always pick up a bag and test, pun intended. :p

A good general rule of thumb or in this case finger, if you can stick your index finger in the area you are going to pin and you actually feel muscle not so far off or under mass layers of fat, you should be good to go. Think delts, quads, thighs, even ventro glute. I am definitely not the norm (ok or even normal) but I have big old hockey players legs (and I love leg day told you I am not normal) and thighs and I have so much muscle/mass in my thighs all over the inner and outer thigh, I can pin 27's in those twice a day for months if I had too. If there's lean muscle somewhere stick one of those in and it will work. It may open up more spots for you to creatively find you like and can use as well. Rotation is important especially the more your are pinning. Obviously hitting nerves or sensitive spots is a thing so take caution, but we all find our spots and kinda know where they are over time. 💪

ventral glute area with the 25G 1” is an ideal spot in addition to what Phill said

future reference; consider using 30G .5” needles small pins will eliminate further scarring
I’ll echo this. I use 30G 1/2 inch for Delts and lats with no issue.

You lean bastards using 1/2 inchers (kinda jelly kind not) :p

Hold ice on the injection site until it’s numb. That should get rid of the pain of stabbing yourself.

Scar tissue or you hitting a nerve, but no one hits a nerve every time. Pin somewhere else, if it’s virgin muscle just know you’ll most likely get pip due to that which will go away, but be able to tell the difference. You can totally botch an injection and you’ll be fine. I stirred away from doing my own glute injections because I’d move the syringe so much it seemed I was making scrambled eggs… pull it out and the needle was L shaped. Next day no issue, maybe some slight pip from injecting like an idiot, but what you describe isn’t that.

I kinda started to have the same issue. Mine imo was definitely from scar tissue. I stopped buying my pins from Amazon and went back to buying the good ones and it’s made a huge difference for me. If you are don’t cheap out on pins. Definitely a difference in tissue damage using the better needles.

Us a vial adapter to load the syringe and use a 27g luer lock bro. I get 0 pain and no pip im also using HB. Honestly I could prolly go up to a 29guage with no problem.

Awesome I appreciate it man. Gonna give it a shot, I think even just using 1/2 inch would be better than the 1 1/2 that I’ve been using lol. Idk everything I’ve read online has been strictly preaching 1 1/2 inchers. Is there anything nasty associated with not hitting muscle and injecting into fat accidentally? I’m lean as fuck it shouldn’t be an issue but just want to make sure

How long of a needle are you using

rotate pin sites you may have scar tissue buildup, try the lat, lots of different delt point insertions, id stay away from quad due to pip and volume of nerves there

I do same as maniboy. Vial adapter and 27g 1/2” for delts lats and vg..I inject low volume m-w-f. 150mg. Per wk. atm.. (I would always keep injections under 1ml. With a 1/2” pin)
Over 1ml. I’ll go with a 25g 5/8 or 1”. The more volume , longer the pin. That’s just me. Everybody is different. Bf% etc..
