my parents want to know what to get me for christmas and i think a pec deck would be a good addition to the gym. im comparing two budget ones. both plate loaded, but one uses pulleys and one doesnt. i've put pics of both. if u want the full product details, theyre both on walmart, sydee for pulleys and hvo for no pulleys. they both seem like quality builds, but with hvo being higher quality. what do u guys think? i like the look of the hvo on better myself, but im worried with the angle of the seat youre really only lifting like 1/3 the loaded weight. would i cap out on that thing quick? no idea.

also, i think if i put a block of some sort on the seat of the hvo one i could do adductors on it

The bottom one offers more utility IMO.
how so? im leaning pretty hard to the other one right now. just wanting to hear out the reasons for the pulley based one before i fully set my mind. i know most gyms have the pulley based ones, so i'm wondering if its the approach or if thats just because it works best with pinned weight stacks most gyms use

If you like the other one roll with it! I just don't like the angle of the red one which can be limiting while the black one you can maneuver yourself to hit the pecs/rear delts at different angles.

It's subtle. Great pieces either way.

Which ever one has the most adjustability, I sure like the looks of the one with the pulley but both look good. The one with the pulley might have more range of motion?

The red one will be an incline and hit more upper chest where the pulley one you could possibly do more body positions and hit upper/middle/low.

From owning a GMWD machine (pulley one), the pulleys are plastic and sometimes they cable slips. Easy to fix, but kinda annoying a times to get a wrench out

Hard decision. I'd agree with Meet that the bottom one would probably offer more options in terms of angles, but sometimes those home cable versions do not function as smoothly as they do in the photos. Atleast the ones that I have used did not. The weights sliding up and down the square tube can be somewhat jerky. Because of that, I'd lean toward the top mechanical version. Thats being really nitpicky though, and I think either one is a solid choice.

Great parents though, I usually just got socks. 🤣

that was the main fear of mine going against a cable. cheap cables are usually shit. this one says its an aluminum pulley though

What if I got an ab/ad machine and did my flies in there? then i'd have a ton more functionality. (and no pulleys)

The pulleys can always be swapped out for steel/aluminum ones, etc... (Amazon).
I dont know about all of their equipment, but I do have the Syedee Belt-Squat and the thing is awesome.. A tank...

my chest press is gmwd which pretty much sells the exact same stuff as sydee but with different labels and its one of my best pieces

I own a PT studio and we have the bottom one pictured. It gets a lot of use and I personally love it. Easy to assemble and we have had zero problems with it!

The Syedee pec deck pulleys are not plastic and the whole machine looks like good quality. The 45 plates are plastic fake/prop ones if that matters.

Home gym I would always pick less moving parts.

Cheap cable systems are a giant pain in the ass to keep moving smoothly.

Plate loaded all the way.

I have one like the lower one. I like it and it’s adjustable for my son’s height.
