A buddy of mine had surgery on his rotator cuff. He was out of the gym for just about 3 months. Anything over 135 on the bench was bothersome for a while. It’s been 8 months and he’s able to put up 315 cleanly with no real pain. Just discomfort. That’s a lot lower than his old pr, but that’s a good lift for only being 8 months out. He’s switched up his style of training now. He goes for reps and time under tension rather than just moving weight.

That sounds great to me. I had injured my left labrum and had surgery back in 2002 or 2003. I dont even remember the year exactly, But i remembered the date. Left shoulder tore from the bone as the Dr said. Also chipped the shoulder looked like sharp teeth. And trapped my left ulnar as well. Worked for 8 months hurt. Doing therapy etc. Had to shave down the bone,
Went in the front ,side, and rear orthroscopic. Then put 2 fixtures(screws) in the front . that was october27th i believe,
December ? 8th i believe had ulnar surgery.
Cut away some forearm reroute the nerve and sutures inside and staples outside.
Come april had to surgery again on the left shoulder. Driving the car i made a turn and the fixtures popped out .
Could feel my elbow from mid forearm to mid tricep for a long time.
To many years before i really trusted myself and my shoulder to do any shoulder work, shrugs,( dam i love shrugs!!) bench, pulldowns, pec deck ,flyes etc. Until this last year to year and a half of being hurt. Never thought i would be back to square one.
It will be a journey, but i will get it done. Im kinda worried, but the sooner the surgery the sooner i can get back to being me. Im setting high expectations for myself. I just wanna get to it!!
