In march my body swelled with water out of nowhere , literally gained 30lbs of water, my stomach looked like I was pregnant, my scrotom and balls were the size of a softball, I was in hospital for a week, diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease… they gave me diuretics about 3 weeks ago and I lost most the water, everything almost back to normal but I look sickly… I wanted to start taking my test I just don’t know if it will mess with my kidneys, any input be appreciated

Exogenous Testosterone is not as bad for your organs as other AAS (mainly the orals) tend to be. It will not cause liver toxicity, and it will not directly affect your kidneys (although it can indirectly worsen renal health due to high blood pressure).

But if I can give you some advice: wait a few months, train naturally, eat healthily and then see how you feel. After such an incident you should give your body a rest and the goal should always be health.

Don't think about Steroids now.

Sorry to hear this man… I’m curious if there were no red flags regarding your kidneys in previous lab work or you didn’t run labs routinely? Also what compounds did you usually run for what lengths of time? Would you say you stayed on top of your hydration or not really? Suffered from elevated bp?

It literally happened out of nowhere, my legs got swollen, then my scrotum turned into the size of a softball, my belly was huge, I gained 30lbs of water, got blood work done and they said my kidneys were filled with protein and protein in my blood is what set it off, literally 2 weeks ago I was 30lbs heavier, they gave me diuretics and I’m almost back down to my regular weight but my blood pressure still high but now I’m so skinny I’m starting to look sickly, I’m eating good I finally got my appetite back but I piss so much I lose 2-3lbs a day, I get on scale every morning and the weight is just coming off at high rate, I’ll post picture of my belly from when it was bad just so you have an idea

I haven’t touched test in like 3 months, I’m not used to my arms being so small and my shoulders, I got all extra loose skin on my biceps now, when I’m not on test I lose so much I feel Leo small , even if I don’t go to gym test still puts weight on me, I just don’t want to look sickly anymore it’s embarrassing

It's just psychological. Don't let your thoughts control you, the right training starts here and now. Be stronger than your negative thoughts! I know it's difficult. I'm not a doctor and can't tell you what's right and what's wrong via remote diagnosis, but if I were you I would train differently, go to the gym or do more cardio, try to get the best out of yourself, heal, consult your trusted doctor, and if everything is right (incl. bloodwork) you can start using steroids again, but when that is, only you know!

With the issues you've had, I wouldn't be using any AAS. At most, if you need it, the smallest trt dose you could get by with but even then you need to be going over it with your nephrologist and not us.

I wouldn't be worried looking skinny. Get your kidneys in the best working order you can and don't worry about using AAS

Test may not directly fuck your kidneys off much more than they already are but I also wouldn't be concerned with the benefits of test when you are possibly on your way to dialysis / stroke / heart issues.

Woah that is actually scary man. I agree with the others on maybe staying natty or actual trt doses of test.

Edit: double post

Ya it was scary, it was hard to move around or get off the couch, the weight came on in couple weeks time , now I actually lost most of that water weight, my blood test showed protein in my blood which is not good at all, I go to that doctor on 16th, it’s rough past couple months since this happened obviously I can’t work , water was in my lungs and I couldn’t walk 50 feet without stopping and being out of breath, my energy still hadn’t came back, I hired a lawyer to hopefully speed up my ssi case, plus I’m waiting on a eeoc case from my last employer who fired me because of my condition so I know that’s going to take least a year …rough spot I’m in at the moment

My brother, do your self a favor and ask your doctor for a

EGFR / Cystatin C tests.

This is the most accurate spot on Kidney function test there is. They told me I had stage 4 with the creatinine test years ago and I knew that test is in accurate due to muscle mass. I asked for the Cystatin C test and my kidneys are as healthy as an 18 year olds. Lots of guys they get that false report. Just double check to make sure. Good luck.

Most of these cunt “providers” will never order and follow up tests. They’ll just say it’s the steroids, the supplements or some other low hanging fruit. Ask for cystatin-c test by name and you’ll get the “Here we go, Dr. Google” attitude.
I have been lucky that the VA erroneously determined that I had Hep C but “self-cleared”. Because of that and my regularly abnormal LFTs, they have me see a liver guy and I get ultrasounds yearly. Their screw up got me better care. Go figure.

I am curious why the OP has smaller arms, etc. just because he stopped taking gear?
Also interested in what they are doing to treat the disease, not just the symptoms?
There is a bacteria product I gave my dog for kidney failure. I can’t remember the name. I think there is a human version. I would be popping those if I had issues, since I can buy OTC here.

Ya my creatine was at 2.7, I had a lot of protein in my piss and my blood… good news is I lost all that water weight, I was huge and lopsided, I weighed 30-35lbs more then my normal weight. I lost all that water in about 3 weeks but now I’m so frail looking, I got all this extra flabby skin on my arms , I literally went from good shape to a bloated mess in like 2 weeks, being depleted of testosterone now for 2 months I shriveled so much, I got bloodwork the 14th so hopefully they were wrong

Well when I got sick and bloated I had to stop going to the gym , I had no energy at all, I couldn’t even take 50 steps without stopping, I haven’t been on test for 2 months either so I literally shrunk like to an embarrassing extent , I haven’t been this skinny since high school and I’m 42, I wasn’t eating I had no appetite, now that I lost the water weight I have no muscles left at all that’s why I was asking if it’s safe I start test again because this is very embarrassing for me to be this skinny, my appetite is back full force I eat all day but no muscle …. I think the root or whatever you’re talking about for the kidneys is it called pumavera or something like that? Also I go for bloodwork on the 14th , doctors think protein in my blood set it off how my body filled with fluid , if protein still in my blood they going to treat it, if it’s not kidney doctor going to treat my kidneys with some inhibitors or steroids so kidneys don’t get worse….. they thought originally hep c set it off but I took mayvret in 2023 and it cured me, it’s not detected in my blood

Are there things that you are aware of that brought this on: past kidney issues, destructive lifestyle, anything?
Echoing what others have said, focus on your health and not how much muscle you have or lost. I lost about 30 lbs and it was mainly fat but some muscle, water, glycogen… and it fucks with my head. I know I look better but my shirts are looser and I don’t feel like I’m “the big guy” in the gym anymore. Make sure your doctor is well versed in hormones, you’d be shocked at how many doctors only remember the two pages covering testosterone from their 1979 textbook years ago. Luckily, now getting bloodwork done is not only common but encouraged. Many guys here can help you interpret your blood results if you post them. Don’t necessarily replace your doctor’s suggestions with what you read here but definitely keep an open mind. Best of luck to you.

Ya I had past kidney issues but nothing serious, this just came out of the blue in a huge way, my legs got swollen, then my scrotum blew up to size of a softball, my belly , the fluid was in my chest , thank god it didn’t reach my heart or affect my lungs, I was in hospital for a week, I had kidney biopsy and results were mild damage , it was scary finding out stage 3 kidney disease, if it reaches stage 4 it’s dialysis and no way in hell I’m doing that, I rather ride it out and if I die it is what it is but no way I’ll do dialysis. They put plugs in your body and catheter, 3 days a week for 3 hours transfer of blood, ya that’s not happening…. They gave me diuretics and I literally lost 25-30lbs in 2 weeks, all that water is gone luckily so I’m hoping they just put me on treatment to keep kidneys from progressing getting worse

Not trying to be rude but if you have had past kidney issues then did this really come out of the blue? Most people are in denial about the lifestyle they lead.

I am in no way justifying my actions or trying to say its ok to use gear with kidney issues. I use gear, sometimes a gram of test at times. I have had kidney cancer, although caught early and only a T1a, I had it removed with a successful experimental cryoablation at the time. I have had zero issues with kidney functions since. Just my two cents.

Years ago I had hep c, in 2023 I took a treatment to cure it, which it did there nothing detected. Doctor said the medication could of attacked my kidneys

Most routine tests are safe for kidneys, but some (like contrast imaging or certain medications) may need extra care if you have kidney issues. It’s always best to check with a specialist who understands your kidney health. For trusted nephrology consultations in Varanasi, you can learn more here: Best Nephrologist in Varanasi | 7Med India
