Today I had a conversation with a family friend, who happens to be urologist and men’s health specialist. He’s been pretty great about offering advice and some tips about using anabolics.

As I was discussing my upcoming blood test to check E2 levels, he asked if I was taking any precautions to help regulate estradiol. I told him I currently have an AI on hand, but won’t take it unless it’s necessary. He suggested taking daily Tadalafil instead to see if that works first. I mentioned that I already take 5mg of Tadalafil daily and have been for a few years now. When I asked why it would matter for hormone levels, he said that some of the research on Tadalafil has shown that it can suppress aromatization, and increase androgen uptake.

I know PDE5 inhibitors are relatively common amongst AAS users, though I presumed this was for the awesome pumps you can get.

Has anyone else used Tadalafil specifically for its potential effects on hormone modulation? I trust that based on his medical background, he isn’t just talking out his ass, I had just never heard of Tadalafik discussed in the context of supporting hormone regulation.

I’ve honestly never heard of this. I take 5mg tadalafil daily and my e2 has never had a significant difference unless I purposely use an AI. I wouldn’t rely on it though- just use an AI.
I’ll certainly use an AI if it becomes necessary. I just thought it was interesting that Tadalafil may offer some support.

His overall advice was that Tadalafil can’t replace an AI in terms of effectiveness, and that the evidence is limited overall, but, it’s something he believes deserves more direct research due to the side effects and risks associated with taking AI’s.

It would be impossible in my experience alone to determine IF the Tadalafil truly has any effect, but it’s certainly and interesting thought in my opinion.

This is likely the study he is referencing:

The impact that PE5 inhibitors may have on estradiol is not such that they can be used in place of an AI.

That’s what he said, his overall opinion was that it should be studied more, particularly for use in TRT. He also was of the opinion that AI’s may be overused, and that some men take them when it’s unnecessary. Personally, I won’t be taking my AI unless it’s necessary. No need to further fuck with my hormone levels unless there is a legitimate clinical need to.

I’ve heard that it does help. I take 5mg daily pre workout daily just for the pumps. My E2 is always in check whether I take it or not according to bloodwork so who knows if it does anything in regards to that

Prior to starting my test, my E2 came back on the low end, but still within what my doc said is normal. For now, I’m presuming I may not aromatize very much, but the next blood test should give me a better idea of that.

If the Tadalafil does help in some way, then that’s dope, if not, oh well, it offers plenty of other benefits that I make great use of lol

I mean every little bit helps and I suppose adds up maybe on TRT, add Proviron too, and you got something.. 😂
