I'm going to brag a bit. My nephew just filed his taxes. He's 22 years old. According to the gal at H&R Block, he's the only person she has ran into that has maxed out his Roth IRA since he was 18. I've been encouraging him for years to take advantage of compound interest, save money and watch spending. His real dad is OK, but not exactly the brightest bulb out there... He lives on the other side of town so I saw him quite a bit over the years. We both struggled with money over the years, but my brother in law made stupid choices for years and always blows his money. Anyway, my nephew will graduate in 2027 and be an elementary school teacher. He also works full time at Target. Yeah, I've paid some of his bills over the years and helped him out, but I've never given him actual cash. I'm so proud of him. I wish I would have done the same or at the very least someone taught me what investing money looks like.... The dude is such a good kid... for context we don't have any children, he's the closest we'll ever have.
