Just going to church doesn't make anyone a Christian. Don't judge the rest on account of the ones who only claim to be.

The bolded part is a Christian principle, spoken by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Most of what we call "good" today has roots in the Bible even if we don't realize it. The foundation of this country we all love, was rooted in Christianity. We've gotten so far away from that now and look at how divided and hanging by a thread we seem to be.

My point exactly. I dont care if you go to church. I dont care if you can quote the bible, or tell me how christ lived. I see with my eyes. So I look at peoples actions. Not even how they treat myself. How do they treat their parents, friends, the homeless, the poor, the addicts, the sick, the workers that clean their houses, etc etc.

Would jesus have spent his sunday mornings dressed up in church? or would he be feeding the people that are hungry in the community, helping the addict mother, or abused child.

I dont need someone to open their mouth to know whether or not theyre a good person. Walking through church doors isnt going to save me as ive been told. Hell ive been told that meditating is worshipping satan lol. I know people that truly believe the earth is 2000 years old. Religion is like politics. Its all hot air. People want to believe what they hear not what they see.

But anyways, there is no god and absolutely no scientific proof of anything but the contrary. But religion has always been a fantastic way to control the masses. So atleast it stops most of these vile ass people from doing more heinous things. But then again it is the church leaders raping little boys, so maybe that’s not even true anymore.

Here's why what you are saying makes no sense. 1) it's a gross oversimplification of every single person whom you claim to hate niggers and call people lazy fucks. 2) you cannot prove there's no God just as much as someone can prove there's a God. Both people , including you, walk by faith. 3) this one is the most important.... Just by you claiming that religion keeps people from doing heinous things proves that you believe there is moral right and wrong. How could you say that if you're so confident there's no God? That would mean there's no moral compass so it would be quite presumptuous for you to say what is right and wrong as if you are god. For others like you what you claim to be wrong maybe acceptable to someone else. .... According to your logic anything you say, do, or believe can be dismissed by some gross oversimplification and broad statements.

Thanks for the reply. I challenge you to study the words and life of Christ. Paul, Timothy, Mathew, James, and others who claimed to follow Christ, who did they say to follow? You know the answer. Im assuming you are frustrated with how people act, speak, and do who follow Christ. Yes it can be bothersome the way people act. But, have you noticed it's only Christians who are judged by others? And lumped together with everyone else who follows Christ? I'm sure you have. Its it possible that Christ is who he said he is and the devil will do anything to tar his image? How often do you hear people using budda as a cus word? You don't because there's zero power. Imagine if we grouped people groups together by what we see on YouTube??? Cops, all colors of people, all professions?? A hundred doctors make a mistake, and the tens of thousands of all others are bad? Doesn't make sense. But, good job stimulating conversation and thoughts.

2) there is no evidence of god. Therefore the burden of proof is not on me to prove there is no god.

3) there doesn’t need to be a god for there to be moral right vs wrong. Morals can be, and are, largely based on consensus

Paul dealt with charity many tiems in his letters especially to the Corinthians. 1 Corinthians 13:3, which states, "If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing."

This emphasizes that charity should be done with love, not for the sake of boasting.

So when you witness a Christian boasting of his charity he is not walking in the faith as portrayed by the Apostle Paul.

To reemphasize a point in my original post, we all sin. Christians are guided to not judge. Too love all but hate the sin. So even when a Christian boasts of his charity to others we do not judge him but pray that he see better of it in the future. The person that gives gives out of love not for payment, payment in accolades from others for his charity.

For your #3, Babylonian society was based on pagan gods. They practiced child sacrifice. They would actually take an infant. Heat up the idol and place the infant on the red hot idol. the infant would be cooked to death. then they would eat it. That was consensus. That is not a mooring I would encourage. With out proper moorings that is where it all seems to go... over and over and over.

I am a committed Christian and have been so since 1986. Not better than anyone else or less than anyone else. We have all been created in the image of God. Try to live the best life I can. Thankfully married a committed Christian woman and married for 35 years. Have adult children and grand children. Go to church as often as possible and try to treat everyone with love and respect. Trying to live a life that is pleasing to my maker and make the world a little better because of being here.

Being Christian or better said catholic is simple,we all decide how much sin we can live with.im irish/Italian, was driven in us since kids.I really dont talk religion or politics much,quick way for some strong opinions flying around..

There is no proof for or against God. Thats why its called faith. Im not a "Christian" but I absolutely believe that there is a creator. Not a bearded man on a mountain or riding a cloud in the sky. But there is an unseen force that controls everything, we are just far too young of a species and far too ignorant to understand it yet. I dont know if it possible for the living to ever understand it. To know the start of life or to understand how the universe came into being may not be possible for any sentient being. It may be designed that way. But i do know this, it didnt start from the Big Bang. Thats the biggest cop out "I dont know shit" explanation ive ever heard I my life.

Nope….always something to talk about concerning gear. We need other topics to stimulate thought and opinions. It’s ok to have different points of view and it’s good to listen to others.
 
I hadnt gone to church in probably 15/20 years.

Recently my son and daughter had become very interested on their own.

I like supporting them at whatever they want and like them finding their own conclusions to things. While im not quite atheist persay im also not quite a believer.
Have a lot of inner struggle with this and like many have seen that so many people that go to church are such pieces of shit.

Well recently befreiended a family that i truly enjoy the company of and their kids and mine get along spectacularly.

They invited us to their church and i gotta say.
Finally found a place that truly practices what they preach and doing things the right way.

Fostering community helping and talking things out.

Its grown on me and i really like what that community is about. Truly helping others and being sefless.

And while im.not the biggest believer or anything like that i can get behind the message this community sends and what they are trying to do.

Seeing my kids happy with their friends and learning to be good people from good people, i can dig this.

Anyways well see how it goes but so far so good been attending for about 3/4 months now and i look forward to it.

💯 I Couldn't agree more. If this was only the case with controversial topics but as we all know, no one does that with subjects that people are passionate about. They just argue about who is right.

I wish more people would actually listen and respect that people have different views without feeling that their views are being attacked. I also wish more people could share their views without attacking the views of others. What a wonderful and peaceful world that would be.

I use to feel the same about all the hypocrites but then i realized its not about what anyone else does or says its about me & i installing values, ethics, & morals into my boys.
