Billionaires get most of the rap, some deservedly so, but the real problem is the senators and congressman. Our government is the problem. If they werent such greedy narcissists then the billionaires lobbying and money wouldnt matter. Its government and corporate greed.

The problem is the entire incentive structure. It comes down to material conditions. You can't separate government from amassed capital, it's all one power center.

There will always be conflict within culture whether it's race, transgender whatever. It's in our genetics.

Also, there is a very blurry distinction between "the people who work for a living" and the people who own everything. Safe to say Jeff Bazos has worked harder than most people for almost a decade of Amazon and businesses he had prior failing over and over taking losses while people told him he was insane for his vision. How about Elon Musk? Guy works his nuts off as per almost every report for decades. Yes, there are plenty of trust fund babies and f them, no argument there but there are more who worked their asses of to be whatever level rich you think is excessive.

The problem isn't the individual billionaire. It's the government that is influenced, bought and paid for creating restrictions/laws crippling competition. More lobbyists in DC than you can imagine.

I know plenty of parents who work their asses off and aren't obscenely wealthy. Hell half of them are more or less broke or in debt despite their best effort. Jeff bezos did not work tens of billions of times harder than anyone else. Most people have no concept of how much a billion dollars really is. The difference between a million dollars and a billion dollars is essentially a billion dollars.

It's the system. When you have thousands of lobbyists you don't need bribery as they do it donating money and favor legally. You eliminate all lobbying in Washington for a solution. Cronyism is the antithesis of Capitalism. Also, prevent Congress and the Senate for making any regulations/laws regarding business. Free market.

You had me until that last part lol but we'll just agree to disagree on that one. But yeah that's what I mean by outlawing political bribery, lobbying should be highly illegal and it essentially is in many countries that function better than we do.

We have a lot of “stuff” to get us through a temporary disruption. But it depends what kind, how long, and mostly where we are when it happens. If we’re in the city, even being armed and such we’re fucked. If we’re in the mountains, we’re good for quite a while - mostly just because we hunt and fish and hate losing WiFi so we have silly redundant and fairly hard systems. But the city apartment? No good way to even get out of the city tbh

Guess we’ll see but I can’t spend much more atp on it than we have - busy using that in the gym lol

I know that sounds crazy but the truth is that the most aid goes to the highest density population centers first and then spreads out from there. It's really just simple logistics. The National Guard can send a bunch of trucks to one area in a day and help millions of people, or send a bunch of trucks all over yonder over a period of several days to help a few thousand people. Their goal is to help as many people as they can as quickly as possible. Again, I'm talking about just regular everyday people who don't do much, if anything, in the way of their own disaster prep.

Great point. And true. It takes a LOT longer for aid, help etc to get out to the sticks. Look how long power outages can last in the country va the city as an example.

And in an end of the world scenario, we’re all hosed. Just a matter of how quickly lol

That said, for the not quite the end of the world but shit is going down (so, shit’s kinda hitting the fan) scenario, as truly unlikely as it may be, it’s good to have a well and a genny with a big ol’ tank of go-juice (municipal gas will stop), and not a bad idea to have something to get food (and protect the house) with.
