Been dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck going on a week now... My C5, C6, C7 are damaged with arthritis and bone spurs... I'm guessing the nerve in C7 is the issue... I have extreme soreness in that area of my neck with right side rhomboid pain that goes to my shoulder past the elbow to my right hand.. my middle to pinky finger has been numb for days and pretty useless while my thumb and pointer finger are fine.. my elbow and shoulder both have been quite painful on top of it... Been doing stretching, ibuprofen and naproxen to attempt to alleviate the pain.. using a heating pad as well... Nothing seems to be helping very much... They take the edge off a bit but sleeping, walking etc has been terrible...

Any suggestions on what I can do moving forward? Or just going to have to ride it out till it goes away... Thanks for any help you can offer!!

I'm an advocate for chiropractic care, but not the normal "bone cracking" people think about. I go to a chiropractor that practices Axial Orthotics. Look up globalao.com and see if there is someone in your area that performs this type of treatment. Highly recommend. It's a completely different treatment than that bone cracking bullshit. Super gentle.

Pinched nerves are like splinters in your finger. If you had a splinter in your finger, would you stretch it, heat it, rest it, oil it, or just remove the splinter? Until you remove the interference, it will be there. Ibuprofen may help the immflammation in the meantime though.

Pinched nerves suck dude. I hope you can find some relief.

I'll look into this... Very much appreciated!!

That sounds horrible. I'm wishing the best for you. As stated, for temporary relief, I use ibuprofen or Meloxicam as you do.

Pinched nerve… but what’s pinching it? Good question. MRI would be the only way to tell. But we could guess based on certain symptoms.

Anyway, the “pinch” is creating a ton of inflammation and pressure on that nerve. Yielding pain, numbness and sometimes weakness.

Reduce the inflammation and you will get relief. Similar to how an epidural would…

Don’t use heat. Don’t twist or try to crack your neck. And don’t try to stretch it out. Tight muscles aren’t the issue so it’s not the fix.

Get some anti inflammatory meds. (Even add some voltaran cream to that side). And get a good cold pac. Use it very often lying on your back.

Doing self traction can open up the space where it’s being pinched too. You could search online how to make something. You could buy something. If you get relief it’s a good sign and keep going. If it aggravates it, hold off.

Doing those things will buy you time as you heal. You need time to heal from this injury. Could take weeks.

Avoid doing things that hurt. No gym shit. Maybe legs.

Good luck

Thanks, I appreciate the knowledge...

have you ever had deep tissue therapy?
the muscles are bound and pulling on that area. just try one session. not regular massage but a true deep tissue therapist.
you gotta loosen up the areas that are pulling it tight.
