I’ve been on and off from the lifestyle for about 11 years now. Just these past 2 years I’ve been taking it pretty seriously with a few ups and downs however I feel like I’ve made some pretty solid gains. I want to dabble, and I am seriously considering competing. However I know nothing in this area and I’m just looking for general advice. I am getting my bloodwork done this weekend which I’ve been told to do that before anything many times by multiple individuals so that’s my first priority however I wanted info on what a good cycle for a first timer would be? Below is an old photo of my younger days back in my 20s when we all were able to just eat anything and build muscle lol the one to with color is a more recent photo bout a weeks old. Took a lot of effort and dieting to get here and still feel small 😂 anyways! Please any advice is welcome! I’m open to suggestions.

If you are seriously thinking of competing...I would suggest start researching and speaking with as many coaches as possible. Have a list of important questions...have them look at your physique giving you feedback on how they'd go about reaching your goals/stage. That coach would put a full plan together (blood work/goals/time frames/training/nutrition/gear/etc). Doing your first show, especially with no gear experience would be extremely difficult. Letting someone to learn from and steer the ship keeping you away from the mistakes you'd make on your own. Hell, maybe you could do your first show natty.

Just my 2 cents.

You’re already starting with a great base physique so you’re gonna be jacked. Keep it as simple as possible. From looking at your week old pic you don’t need much to see results.

Thanks man I appreciate that. I was told that with my physique now that my test should be high. But I wont know until I get my bloodwork done this weekend so 💪🤷🏻‍♂️

If your test levels and bloodwork are good, which I imagine they will be. Maybe doing a natty show might be good way to start off. This way you can see if you like going through prep and competing...some people fall in love with the sport and others are like F that. You'd have gotten a coach to dial everything in before the show and if you love it and want to take it to the next level, everything is in place for you to do so and get the best benefit possible. It's a big decision as it is very hard to go back after going on gear. Especially when you don't know how your body will comeback if you do decide to come off.

Lastly, natty shows are not anywhere near as competitive as untested. You'd do VERY well with your physique.

Your decision man. This is a long game and should play it as such.

And like @Meetketchup said about not knowing if your body will come back, I haven’t injected in 3 months plus I did a vial of HCG and my balls have not returned. So be careful and use the lowest effective dose.

Well I seriously appreciate the advice man. I have given it some heavy thought and it’s been something that I’ve wanted to do for years now and I’ve finally come around to it. Natty competition doesn’t sound fun to me 😂 I’m natty now and it’s difficult.

Man I’m sorry to hear that. Yeah it is a bit nerve wracking but it I guess that just comes with the territory. But again, I’m sorry to hear that happen to you I don’t mean to sound non-empathetic

You’ve accomplished a heck of a lot for being natural! Good job, Brotha!!!
That being said, once you cross the line you won’t go back. I trained natural for 8 years. Took my first shot as a present for my 27th birthday from my roommate. Been on gear for 28 years since. Hahaha 🤪
As good as you look natural you should just compete in a natural show. Unfortunately, natural shows have guys on juice. There’s always that one asshat who spoils things for the truly natural guys.

Natural athletes look down on us but I don’t look down on them in any way. I am very impressed with some of them.
I think that if someone is not wanting to complicate things by using gear, it is commendable.
It is definitely going to reinforce the concept that most everything you accomplish is through diet and training. Drugs are such a small part of it.

I respect the hell out of this post. I don’t look down on natural athletes, like you I commend them as well. Thanks for sharing.

i do. 99% of them say "damn thats crazy what gear does" when standing next to me. Despite the fact they get 105g protein a day and havent progressed a single lift in the past 18 months. A true good looking highly regimented natural, give em props for sure. But 99% of them time when someone tells me theyre a natural lifter, theyre using it as an excuse to look like shit.
(not this guy; obv, the people that visit here are usually gunna be on a better level than the avg joe)

I think true natty bodybuilding is silly. It’s a starvation contest and they all look sickly and small.

If u gunna be natty don’t go below 15% bodyfat 😂

Thanks man I truly appreciate it. I’ve been at it, really focusing on my diet and keeping that motivation up is definitely a struggle. But, I agree i get told this a lot since I’ve been asking about it. I’m not having much doubts about my decision though. I’m ready to cross that line. Thanks for sharing brother!
