Due to the generosity of YMS picking me to give their Retatrutide a try and to keep a journal of the experience along the way, I am starting this log. In addition to tracking how the Reta treats me, I plan to include my daily food intake, daily workout, etc. I haven't really settled on a format yet, so it'll be a work in progress until I decide on what I like (and can keep up with). Some days I will probably do several edits throughout the day of that day's entry, some days it will probably be done all at once later in the evening. I will do my best to have something to add every day, but shit happens...

Background: 54 year old male. 6'1" tall 232.0 lbs. My weight topped out at a documented 310 lbs back in late 2023/early 2024. I'm certain I was even larger before that, but I didn't even own a scale then so it doesn't count, right? LOL I began walking a lot and began dropping lbs. Got into running for a while, eventually completing a half marathon along with several 5K and 10K races. Weight got down to 222 at the lowest in late September 2024 but I was quite "skinny fat" (even though I wasn't skinny per se. No muscle really.) And my knees & hips were taking a hell of a beating. I could tell it every day. I had been really low-calorie and doing lots of running, so although I dropped weight very quickly, it was not a sustainable healthy approach by any means. Got away from running and started lifting regularly later in 2024 and weight went back up into the mid 240's. Had a blood test done at my employer's health fair and found out my test level was 224. So I got on TRT January 15 2025 (100mg test c twice weekly). My eventual goal is to be sub-200 lbs and sub-15% BF

Daily notes/thoughts on Reta specifically:
Noticeable appetite suppression seems to be beginning. Too soon to know for sure though probably. Typically I'll have oats or cream of rice as part of my pre-workout calories but I really felt like doing that much chewing would not have been much fun right off the bat today. I noticed some mild abdominal muscle contractions/slight spasms for about 30 mins after waking up. I don't know if that's related to Reta or not, but thought it was worth noting. I was not hungry at all at each meal time, especially dinner.

Appetite suppression is staying quite strong. I haven't felt hungry at all at any point today. No bowel movements since yesterday morning, which i believe is a common side effect. I typically stay very well hydrated anyway, but I'm going overboard with hydration now, just to do my part to keep things moving

Hunger is returning pretty well, 4 days after my initial .5mg injection. Now I'm contemplating either doing another .5mg dose Wednesday probably, or just riding it out the full week until Saturday and bumping up to 1mg at that time. Undecided for now.

I was actually hungry upon waking as well as immediately post-workout, which I had not been for the past several days since my initial .5mg injection. Effects of my initial .5mg injection are definitely over now. Very noticeably hungrier. I will either just buckle down and deal with it or up my daily calories by a few hundred for the next few days and will bump up to 1mg on Saturday. I'm very impressed by the lasting power of just the .5mg though!

Took a 1mg dose of Reta early this morning and by lunch it was a struggle to eat much. I went with a Healthy Choice frozen meal i had on hand mainly based on the pretty decent macros (28P/8C/5F & 4G fiber) in a small amount of food. Now its almost dinner time and I have zero hunger. I believe, especially as I increase my Reta doses, that I'll be relying heavily on protein shakes.

interested to see how 1mg treats you, im not experienced in GLP's yet but im curious, (maybe you or somebody else can help answer) is weight a factor to starting dose? IE: should somebody heavier start at a higher MG just purely based off their weight?

Today was move-in day for our youngest son at college 2 hrs away so the daily diet got all fucked up. We hit the Subway on campus at lunch because it seemed like the best choice out of what was open before classes get started next week. Got home late afternoon and was dragging ass so had a blended protein coffee pick-me-up. Had zero hunger for dinner so I went with my typical morning post-workout snack, the ol' cottage cheese & Oikos triple zero yogurt combo. Definitely needed something with little to no chewing involved to be able to get it down lol

@Wiseguy It's going pretty well so far. Energy stays good. Just sticking to low-intensity stuff such as the moderate incline treadmill the past two days. I plan on mixing in the bike or slow stairmaster when the treadmill has me ready to gouge my eyes out from boredom. Trying to do fasted cardio on the weekends, so I've just been drinking a cup or two of coffee and then heading to the gym. I'm always open to suggestions from those who are more knowledgeable on how I can better approach things if something looks wonky 👍
 
Some beginning and current pics. I feel like I'm starting to see some difference, and I can definitely FEEL some difference as far as pants a little looser in the waist, less puffy/little harder in some areas, etc.

Even though I started this log Aug 8, the pics in the initial post were actually taken July 28, just for full disclosure 👌👍
