My home brew L-Carnitine.....

@01dragonslayer
1st, thanks so much for all the info. Just brewed up my first batch, and I'm super stoked to pin it tomorrow preworkout.
Question for you. Once I heated the 55ml, added benzyl alcohol, and then dissolved 60 g of lcarnitine, I only had about 80ml. I ended up topping off with more sterile water to round out to 100ml. Wondering if you top off yours, or if your calculation always works out.
It was a bit of an error when I added the extra h2o because I did it with force which caused some bubbles/foam. Seems to have mixed, but just wondering your experience. Thanks again for sharing
Typically my formula is very close when I brew my carn. It may be a few MLs off. Are you positive you accurately weighted your L Carn? Can you post a pic or your finished product and did you use a 100ml vial?

Yes, 100ml vial. When administering this morning, it pulled as though it was thicker than any I've ever used. But that probably because these companies underdose product. I have a fair share of experience using scales, so my weight of lcarnitine should be on point.
Brewing sme more batches should sus out any discrepancies I experienced this run. Thanks for responding and again really appreciate this tutorial.

Your finished product looks on point. Not sure what could have happened. Yes....the viscosity will be thicker no doubt. I have brewed up to 800mg/ml and trying to filter was such a hassle.

Due to a lack of patience, I ended up using eight of the ten filters. I think that'll be the greatest expense of the process. But it's still such a huge savings. Now I can dose over a gram a day and get the most benefit. I'm feeling the same relief as when I found a direct from source peptide supply. Thanks again

I find that I'm doing the same when I brew 6-800mg/ml. It's a tedious process.

Interesting. wouldent this indicate that the calculation on 60ml is wrong?

I agree that its possible that the calculation is not EXACT but it it not off by a whole lot. When brewing your with your powders they all weight differently depending on the substance. I just use this formula as a rule of thumb.

Hey bro I just want to thank you for posting this. This is my second batch I have made using your recipe and I couldn’t be more grateful. I did get PIP the first batch but I still used all of it. If this one has PIP I may play with the PH but it’s nothing I can’t handle and way better than paying for L-Carn online.

Thank you 🙏

I also added a reheat step in a double boiler setup keeping the temp below boiling to help filter. L-Carn doesn’t destabilize until about 300 degrees Fahrenheit and the BA is stable until much higher temps. I got it done in two filters and was much easier this time around. My first batch was also stable for months and even got refrigerated just for science 😂

Day two of second batch and no PIP. I made zero adjustments besides reheating for filtering. I must have messed up a measurement in my first batch to get PIP. This recipe is great!

Amazing! How many mg/g did you inject? What size needle and injection site? What concentration? You used only carnitine base, and bac water?

I’m currently trying (with mediocre success) to get a pip-tolerable 1g/ml mix. Am adjusting ph and buffering with typical compounds but no strong enough success yet to report a recipe back here

I just used Dragonslayer’s recipe. I only modified it with a second heating so that it filtered out quicker. I wanted to make sure I made his precisely a second time before drawing conclusions and modifying ratios.

I have tried both sub Q and harpoons at 1.5 inches 25g with this batch. Neither had PIP. My normal poke will be 1 inch 27g. I use about 1000mg a day and don’t like that much liquid sitting sub q.

This is the exact measurements.

@01dragonslayer do you reuse anything when making a new batch? Specially asking about the sterile vials. I threw away my mixing vial and the rubber stopper on my finished vial looks a little sus, so I'm thinking to just go with new sterile vials for the next batch. Just wondering how you go about this

Typically I will never reuse vials, syringes or needles. The chance of contamination is to high. Depending on the amount of brew I am currently making I will sometimes reuse a filter. My rule of thumb filter life is 100ml. For instance if I brew a 50ml batch of Lcarn I will use that same filter for another 50ml and only Lcarn.

Hope this helps.

It does, thank you! Speaking of which, have you ever made bacteriostatic water? I was thinking of using your recipe, minus the l-carnitine, for a homemade BAC, do you have any experience with this? I know BAC is plenty cheap but I figured since I have the ingredients already, maybe it was worth trying.

All the time. Extremely simple. I usually make 2-300ml at a time.

is your recipe for the BAC just the sterile water plus benzyl alcohol and ran through the filter? Do you do anything different for the BAC?

Yes.
I have very easy access to it so I like to start with sterile water.

I will withdraw 100ml, 10ml at a time, in a sterile uncapped 100ml vial. Microwave the vial and water until it boils. You really don't need this step but boiling is another way to sterilize your water. Add your .9ml of BA and gently swirl until thoroughly mixed. Let it cool for a few minutes then filter the water into a 100ml sterile vial.

Have made several hundred ml of this now. Pretty fun.

Used sterile saline for irrigation. Usually end up with 550-575mg / ml. 1% BA. No burning at all. No PIP with 1ml, but 2ml causes soreness for a day or so. Oddly enough, my pecs are my favorite spot to inject, followed by delts and ventrogluteal.

Has anybody "upgraded" or automated the filtration process? Even using 33ml filters gets a little tedious.

So is bulk supplements the best powders to use? Been years since I've tried to make anything so it's kinda scary lol I'd love to make some things but I'm curious what all can you make injectable from different supplements? Say like vitamin c, ala etc. Tired of buying things like glutathione, b12 etc from doctor

Trying to figure out if I want to make this run or not. I've been using it for 4-6wks and I can get 60k mg for about $40 Enough to last 3 months.

Seems like the L-Carnitine isn't the problem/cost more so all the supplies. Can you reuse the glass beakers?

Bulk Supplements is generally considered acceptable, but not best.

I've been thinking about making other brews / blends too. Seems to me, the best to try yourself would be some amino acid blends or things with only a few (or less) active ingredients.

There's some things out there that require adjusting the PH, buffering, etc that adds to the complexity. Lots to research.

Beakers can be re used no problem.

The sterile vials, not so much. In theory you can cut the crimp, remove the SHIP, thoroughly wash, add an new SHIP, re crimp, and sterilize. It's more time, more up front investment, and more risk (since at home sterilization options aren't quite as effective as commercial or lab methods)

How are you guys cleaning the beakon? vinegar and distilled water, cooking it in distilled water, heating it in owen, using alcohol swab after?

How do you clean/sterilize the beakers before using to mix?

I just hand wash, rinse exta well and then sterilize. You can sterilize in a pressure cooker, instant pot, or an oven.

I personally use an instant pot. Insert trivet, add an inch of water, cover beaker with foil to keep condensation out, glass stir rod gets wrapped in foil too. High pressure cook at least 90 minutes, natural pressure release, don't open lid until you are ready to start brewing.

I'm not sure how necessary it is since the .22uf filter ensures your solution is sterile anyways, but it is good practice and can't hurt.
