I've been around the forums for some time. I hadn't been here in a few years and I forgot my handle. I posted as much in my new member welcome thread.

Perhaps if your Sherlock hat were a bit more loose, you would have discovered that too.

Don’t worry! they’ll come back and say that we made that up last night when we spoke telepathically to each other. Most of these guys are the same guys that when a new person comes to the forum with a question the first thing they reply is something to bash the question they had. Then they usually reply with something like go read and figure it out on your own.

Personally I tend to be a little more respectful than that even if I do feel the question is a little a bit common sense of knowledge.

Idk which sub forum you mean, but I was skeptical of this a while back on fairly new sponsor board. Brand new members popping up singing the source' praises with a first post, then nothing. Turns out the source in question is legit af. After I started using them I found out the reason behind the new member thing. They run like $2K giveaways, to enter you have to drop a new review of an actual order you made on one of 3-4 boards they list. Send them proof of your review and youre entered for the giveaway.

Not a bad marketing tactic really. But that explains some of the new member reviews shit
 
Just to be clear the one Im talking about, it has to be a review of an actual order you made with them. Cant be just spam shit hey these guys are great! type of stuff

It isn't hard to realize which ones are just the labs making alts. think about the cost to benefit here:
1. run giveaway based on new member making account and praising lab ($2000 cost)
2. make new account and praise lab ($0 cost)

No point in a giveaway when you can just make the fake accounts your self. Costs less and has the exact same result; new member with 0 credibility gives praise to source

Yeah, my memory is normally pretty good but I had an extremely generic handle and I don't consider my handle on forums to be important, therefore, I don't remember it.

I’ve had prior members come back after being gone and tell me they can’t remember their log ins and they had to make new accounts.

Part of being here forever, so many members come and go. When they come back they look for a familiar name in a sea of new guys.

Just add some content and don’t be solely a fan boy for a lab, you’ll fit back in.

@powertime is a real person, he joined ASF around the same time as us, he was one of our first ASF customers, and has been consistently enthusiastic about supporting us. We speak to him on a regular basis and hes a good man.
He knows his gear and seems to prefer to stay out of drama or controversy, which may be why he prefers to just do his thing.
We did ask him to support our posts after his first experience with us, long ago, and he has faithfully continued to do so on his own.
We appreciate him very much, and anyone who has a problem with a man who supports his friends and keeps to himself otherwise, should probably ask themselves why thats an issue in their mind. 🙂

I do support H&B. I believe in the service and products that they provide to the community. They have been one of the most stand up sponsors that I’ve seen in almost 15 years of being on different forums. I have never seen them or their reps do anything to stir the pot in the ASF community. They have gained my respect for those reasons.

I do personally prefer to stay out of any drama online and stick to myself. If someone does come to me, I do my best to help and if I can’t I do what I can to find someone that can. I don’t have time for inflated egos or anyone that creates post just stir things up. It speaks a lot of that persons character
