idk man, I went and they told me I was 6% BF. I can't even get a trend off that b/c I was really like 25%. Am I going to go negative over time? Gonna show me losing muscle?DEXA, at least in my opinion, is probably the best you can get that’s somewhat affordable. With that said, a lot of factors at play that can skew the results at any one time. But if you use the same method over time it can still show some trend data. I guess you could go back to the old caliper methods. That and the mirror. Otherwise, who really cares if you’re happy with your results. I can tell you that the difference between my DEXA at 416 pounds was FAR different than what it was at 197.![]()
Hard to say. I think on any given day the results can vary a lot. But I’m no expert on these things. Just going by my experience with them.idk man, I went and they told me I was 6% BF. Dexa's error in deviation can be as high as +/- 4 or 5% You can literally drink 20oz of water before and gain of lean tissue according to scan. These are good for guys like BigD who started out at a high body weight where it will be a good trend indicator while you lose weight.idk man, I went and they told me I was 6% BF. I was 240-245 at the time of my scan. 20lb more fat than I have now. Def not hovering around 12% give take. While I agree as someone who also loves data… reality is though end of the day the mirror IS all that matters in the real world.Sucks there is no good, accurate, consistent, reliable way to track body composition. Mirror sure, scale to a degree....but being a data nerd it's nice to have consistent data.
I tried to get a Dexa scan thinking I could use it as a starting point....but they gave me a laughable body fat % that wasn't even close to true and I threw it away. I have a 2nd free scan that I'll probably never use.
