So the home gym is progressing well. I need flooring. I've looked at "gym flooring" but it seems over priced if the horse stall mats work just as well. I figured I would probably also build a platform for deadlifts as well. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Great choice at a fraction of the cost. Hey them local if you can. Google: horse and tack or feed.

A:> Bad Religion - Suffer is one of the greatest albums ever.
B:> I live in horse country so ag products are easy. Priced at $450 give or take for the whole floor and pick up 3 miles away. Thank you for the feedback. Awesome AVI

The ones i got at Tractor Supply Co are a 12x12 square, so make sure you measure out your space. But they're also interlocking, like puzzle pieces, which is nice.

I was gonna go with 6x4. space is just under 14'x24'. I figured at 100lbs per mat i could just drop them on the concrete and but them with a 2x4 and mallet.

Right, but if you get a horse stall mat kit, it comes with 6 mats, each 4x6, that interlock into a 12x12 square, as horse stalls are generally 12x12.

That's my set-up in my basement.... it's the only one I have on my phone right now, but you get the idea...

Nice. Yeah I saw that. I was just going to go wal to wall with it. Apparently they are easy to trim with razor knife and I'm gutting the room so I was going to just treat it like carpet and use a baseboard to cover any rough edges.

Also I wish we had basements here. It's like a giant free room?!

you can order from rural king or great mats online and cut your cost in 1/2 compared to a feed store price and less then Tractors supply...

Rural King is $29.99 for 4x6 3/4 inch 1000lb mats...

Yeah, but since I think they might actually WEIGH 1000 pounds each, shipping is going to cost as much as getting them at a feed store :( No lie JR, they are heavy AF and awkward. A great idea for gym flooring though, have some give and almost indestructible. Ive got a few my horses stomped on for at least 15 years. You can pretty much count on not having to replace them once they're in

there dont weigh 1000lbs ...they are made to hold a 1000lbs.....feedstores are fine for hay, feed and soil(cow shit)..but after that the margins are like going to a convience store..big mark ups..

those 2 vendors use UPS business for freight....costs are not that high to ship them....

Tractor supply is $40/mat and cheaper than greatmats per unit and shipping at rural king puts them over local pickup. My work truck handles pallets of shingles more often than I want it to so the mats really aren't a big deal now that my oldest boy hit puberty! Having a family that lifts means my wife and 12 year old are better help than my friends have been since high school! lol

I know they don't ACTUALLY weigh 1000, but when you gotta drag em around by yourself, dayum, they feel like it ;)
or maybe just all the dirt and pee makes them heavier

Motheruckers better be whinnying and taking gloved arms up their ass to be trolling for nudes in my horse at thread. Had a contest for this shit and got one entry.

I wanted to enter the contest.... unfortunately, my wife didn't. Said some shit about her dignity being worth more than free gear.... crazy talk, if you ask me.

I had stall mats on the floor of my home gym. Purchased them at Tractor Supply, 4'x6'. I layed mine wall to wall. Good luck cutting them with a utility knife...I measured mine out with a chalk line and cut them with a jig saw. It looked very nice when it was done. I'll see if I can find a pic.

I have tools and if that fails I have meskins! But yes please do send pics. How did you feel about them?

Pic above^. They were a bitch to deal with as far as laying and cutting. They weigh about 100lbs each, but they are durable as hell. A circular saw wouldn't work as the blade would bind, and forget about trying to cut them with a utility knife, they are too thick. As I said before, I found a jig saw to be the best for cutting them. The only complaint I had is the odor (rubber) inside the house. I'd imagine any rubber flooring would have an odor, though. My home gym was in a finished basement of my previous home.
