I have a serious bloating problem. Doesn't matter if I'm bulking or cutting, doesn't matter what or how much I'm eating, as soon as something enters my stomach it expands like a beach ball. Now I know everyone always mid section always looks nice and flat first thing in the morning compared to how it looks at the end of the day, but the difference in how I look first thing in the morning compared to anytime after my first meal is crazy. I go from hard and lean, to puffy and bloated within a single meal. I always keep my E2 in check so I don't believe it's related to that. I know eating vegetables helps with digestion and my veggie intake could be a lot better...only about one meal a day (if that) contains any significant amount of vegetables. It's not that I don't like vegetables...it's just that it's another thing to have to buy and prepare and it always falls low on my list of priorities.

Has anyone had luck with using digestive enzymes and/or probiotics to help with bloating? If so, what brand works well for you?

I swear by Phillips Colon Health

I know a few guys last time I posted said "this does nothing"

But I disagree. I use this myself and with clients and it helps various digestive issues

I don't sell or carry this fyi. You can buy it anywhere. I think I get mine at Rite Aid or Shoprite for like $25?

My X used probiotics with a lot of success. I’m sure it varies from person to person but it’s worth a shot.

What i know is when I use probiotics my poo stinks much worse than normal so I figure it's pulling out more nasties than when not using them, and I fart more which reduces the bloating..:coffee:

I have used this for over a year and it helped.

I’ve been trying to bulk but just can’t because of my stomach issues. I had part of it removed due to infections.

I have been trying 5% digestive help. It’s a real help with getting more food in and processed. It’s expensive but it’s helping me and my GF with nice digestion.

Do you have any other issues in addition to abdominal bloating? Change in bowel habits, diarrhea, constipation, greasy/foul smelling stools, etc

Nothing I would consider abnormal for me. Why?

Gas-X works pretty well.

Digestive enzymes made everything worse for me.

I also had to trail and error with some foods.

Your not taking Metformin are you?

I've been seeing a gastrointerologist for the last two years. Sudden, unexplainable changes in bowel habits 'could' be a sign of underlying medical conditions. If things don't go back to normal, I'd recommend you seek medical advice
EDIT: the gastro I was seeing didn't do shit for me. It wasn't until I started seeing a naturopathic doctor that things started getting better for me

I'll vouch for this product. I was having some serious bloating / gas issues, started taking the Colon Health pills daily as well as supplementing a digestive enzyme along with my high protein meals and within a week or two everything was back to normal.

The digestive enzyme i was using was a papaya extract (papain) but there are others.

This is one of those your-mileage-may-vary kind of things. I know some folks haven't seen any benefit from probiotics / enzymes, but it made a world of difference for me personally and I know it anecdotally has for others as well.

Idk how much protein powder you use but have you tried to switch your protein powder? It helped a lot for me, most protein powders use fillers and the bloating could be just from your using the wrong one (for you).

Personally, I don't use protein powder, I try to get all of my protein from my foods. Lots of grilled / baked chicken, yogurt ( Siggi's - 18g protein per serving, 170 cals), pasta made from chickpeas instead of semolina (Banza Chickpea Pasta is a favorite, 25g protein per serving). It's been a while since I charted out all the macros, I've been eating the same set of meals for a while now - but when I ran the numbers I was hitting about 2000 - 2200 calories a day at roughly 180-200g of protein 60-90g fat, and 140-180g carbs.

But, in the spirit of your question - yeah I've tried changing up my diet a few times to experiment with more / less meat or veg and didn't notice much of a difference. Generally whenever I start getting close to that 1g / lb of protein intake threshold I notice I start those having gas/bloating issues.

I have IBD and my list of foods I can eat and not get sick is fairly short. I take a daily probiotic which helps a ton.

The thing is I tried different brands but still had daily diarrhea and such. My PA buddy suggested I try one specific brand of probiotic. It's the one they use to treat in patients at our hospital. I starting using it and it's been a game changer for bloating, diarrhea, cramping and just overall gut health. It's called Diff-Stat and i highly suggest it. It's available from many places online. Not all probiotics are created equal.
