For my brothers over 50:

Do you feel like that your workouts have shifted more towards an overall fitness and health program? Are you still pushing heavy weight? How about gear use? Have you started to moderate what compounds and how much of each that you use?

As for me, I’ve reverted back to my days in the military with heavy focus on basics such as pull-ups,rucking,treadmill and lighter weights.

I’m simply not looking to grow but rather to maintain and slightly be more cardio focused.

Test is best for me. Maybe a little Primo from time to time or some NPP. Nothing dramatic.

How about you?

After 57 things shifted dramatically. Seven years later they have shifted again. There aren't many 70+ year olds doing heavy squats, deads and benches. Reps go up. Training frequency goes down, diet gets even tighter. Cycles get much more conservative. Most of my joints are banged up at this point. Periodization is something else that shifts. most of us downsize. Cardio is prioritized. Stretching is a massive advantage.

Well said. I absolutely need to address my stretching and flexibility.

56 still try train heavy on occasion. I cant lift like i did when i was younger i just dont have the mass i once had. Hired a coach and just doing what he says to try and get the best results i can while i can. I know nothing about training for my age i only know what i learned years ago. And while i still feel results from that way of lifting i know its not proper for me now. The science has come along way since the 90s. My heros then were lee preist and arnold and a couple others i lived in muscle mags pages back then.
