Glutathione is an antioxidant peptide found in most living organisms, including humans, animals, plants and fungi. Its job is to fight oxidative stress and prevent free radicals from damaging the body.

Glutathione is popular among enhanced bodybuilders because it protects and regenerates the liver and the kidneys, two organs that are likely to suffer some damage during an AAS or SARM cycle.

Unfortunately, Glutathione has a very poor oral bioavailability, so it must be injected for best results.

However, taking Glutathione is not always necessary. The body already makes this antioxidant on its own, and we can maximize its production by taking N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC), which is a precursor to it.

Other supplements that can increase Glutathione production are Glycine and L-Glutamic Acid. (Cysteine, Glycine and Glutamic Acid are the 3 amino acids that make up the Glutathione molecule).

THE BENEFITS OF GLUTATHIONE

Glutathione plays so many roles in the human body that trying to explain its benefits in an organized way can be quite difficult. But all the benefits of this amazing peptide come from the fact that it fights OXIDATIVE STRESS.

Oxidative stress occurs when there is an excess amount of free radicals in the body. This results in DNA and cell damage, and is linked to cancer, inflammation, brain damage, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, atherosclerosis, heart failure, heart attack, depression and other serious health problems.

By fighting oxidative stress, Glutathione decreases the chances of all these (and other) health problems occurring, and manages to:

  • Bring down systemic inflammation
  • Promote longevity
  • Improve mental health
  • Prevent neurodegeneration
  • Fight viral and bacterial infections (hence why NAC, a precursor to Glutathione, was found to be effective against Covid).
  • Improve digestive health
  • Improving immune function
  • Protect the heart
  • Improve skin quality
  • Prevent eyesight deterioration
  • And more…
But as nice as all these benefits are, they are not the reason why bodybuilders are drawn to Glutathione and to the supplements that increase its production.

Glutathione is an important tool in bodybuilding because it protects the liver and the kidneys, which are damaged by AAS and SARM use.

In the liver, glutathione gets rid of all the toxins that damage it and promotes its regeneration. There have been reports of advanced enhanced bodybuilders who had sky-high liver enzymes (the leading indicator of liver damage), and who managed to bring those enzymes down to a normal level in just a few days after a single Glutathione injection.

Glutathione itself is, hands-down, the most powerful compound a bodybuilder can use to take care of his liver during or after a cycle.

In the kidneys, Glutathione has been shown to reverse oxidative stress and improve kidney function. The kidneys are rarely as compromised by AAS / SARM use as the liver is, but the kidneys do not have the regenerative properties of the liver, so protecting them from all possible damage is KEY.

THE SIDE-EFFECTS OF GLUTATHIONE

This antioxidant is free of negative, dangerous side-effects if used properly. However, abusing it can cause diarrhea, flatulence, and other digestive disorders.

Another side-effect of Glutathione is skin whitening. This is not a dangerous side-effect, and to many people it is more of a benefit than an adverse reaction. However, it takes time for Glutathione to whiten the skin, so using it for short periods of time to heal the liver is unlikely to have a significant impact on skin tone.

HOW TO TAKE GLUTATHIONE

If you can’t find injectable Glutathione or you are simply not willing to pin it, your best option is to take 1 to 2g of NAC a day during and after a cycle to minimize organ damage during a cycle and to reverse the damage after the cycle.

Other supplements you can take to further increase Glutathione production are L-Glutamic Acid at 5g a day, Glycine at 5g a day, Alpha Lipoic Acid at 1g a day, Selenium at SAM-e at 500mg a day.

However, if you want to skip all of that and go straight for the prize, injectable Glutathione is where it’s at. You will get much better results with less effort, by injecting 500mg subcutaneously twice a week during the cycle.

If you don’t want to inject so many times, you can simply take NAC at 1-2g a day during the cycle to minimize the damage, and then pin Glutathione at 500mg twice a week for a couple of weeks post-cycle to reverse all possible damage.

How to determine the dosage in the injectable version?
Common dosing protocols in clinical studies have ranged from 600 mg to 1,400 mg per, administered two to three times per week, though higher or lower doses may be used depending on individual needs.

For wellness and general and an antiox boost you can start with a single 600mg dose per week. This helps maintain healthy glutathione levels, scavenge free radicals, and provide foundational antioxidant support.

For detoxing support and skin brightening a higher dose can be considered. This can range from 600-1200mg 1-3Xs/wk. More intensive skin brightening protocols may suggest dosages between 1,500 to 4,000 mg once or twice a week, but these higher doses require close medical guidance.

For specific therapeutic conditions like Parkinson's disease, dosages have been evaluated at 1400mg up to 4Xs/wk.
please remember these are just general guidelines. I personally cycle mine at 100mg/EOD.

Any discernible difference in subq vs im?

The best way I can answer that is this….glutathione injections somewhat suck. I always do mine IM and I push the plunger very slowly and pause several times and still have a little soreness. I couldn’t imagine the discomfort with a subq injection of it. And for the record I pin all kinds of peptides and GH subq, I’m on a test/deca cycle now so I’m not afraid of pinning. It’s just the glutathione itself is uncomfortable.

Other than absorption rates....not really.

IM injections reach muscle which has greater blood flow and support faster uptake. As opposed to SubQ injections are delivered more into fatty tissue, allowing for slower, more sustained absorption. SubQ for some tend to be more comfortable.

Appreciate it. Pretty much uncomfortable in all the normal im spots?

Thanks. Pretty much what I assumed. Guess I’ll give them both a try and see which one is less painful.

I inject my glutathione IM without pain but I also cut it with some injectable DADA. What form is your glutathione....peptide or pre-made solution?

Like Sam said inject slowly and pause if needed..
Feel if nvr pinned it,1st time is toughest
To reconstitute usually 1ml per 100 mg..
For the life of me i cant unserdtand how all of sudden vials have jumped from 600mg to 1200,1500
Yet suppliers dont use proper size vials?
Meaning 6ml bac/600 mg
12ml bac/1200 mg
15 ml bac/1500mg
Didnt mean to get off track but this popped into mu mind..Lol
I have 1500 mg vials
And can only reconstitute with 9mls bac
1ml=1.33

I’ve only used pre-made glutathione so I haven’t ran into that problem lol

I get my premixed solution from another sponsor not on this forum and it's pretty painless.
What size pin do you use? I get min from sources that aren’t on here either. Both sources are really good. One of the sources Gymntonic carries their products on his site. Both give me some PIP.

So that is essentially, a week and a half per bottle (1500mg) at 500mg/2x week? At that does for example.

I’m trying to understand the size of these injections. It appears I need a turkey baster size syringe to pin that much of anything. What am I missing here?

I’ve been discerning glutathione for a while. Thank you!

That 500×2 week is pretty high man.
Off cycle feel 50mgs EOD is good..
On cycle 100 mgs EOD i feel is good..
Now thats for me man..
Right now im at 133 mgs EOD only because 9mls bac is all that fits in vial..
And tuats what 1ml works out to be..
Some more knowledgeable cats hope will jump in here too

Glad it’s working well for you!

I see. So at those doses a vial will go a few weeks.

Yes, I read what you said about reconstituting that bottle. Yikes! I need even numbers or I’m lost. :ROFLMAO:

Personally I use already mixed glutathione and it lasts longer. You can normally find a 20ml bottle that is 200mgs/ml. I know Wes @GYMnTONIC has some on his site.

For people who take it what benefits did you notice? Do you think its worth the cost? I've been considering it for a while
