For the Love of Dogs

This was my wolf hybrid.
5% wolf/20% chihuahua/70% meerkat/5% rat

Actually an Italian greyhound.
She was the best of every dog I have ever had. Sofia.
I named her after Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter, who is a dog.

I too had an Italian Greyhound, by far the best dog I’ve ever had. Smarter than most humans, and extremely fast.

I have had 4. By far my favorite. Most people just don't understand them. The owners can be quite condescending and cunt like though. Oh, not me....I meant the other owners.
I wen once to a play date. 25 IGs running around having fun. No barking or aggression. Part of the breed when together.
Three fat bitches were sitting there talking about my dog (the one pictured before). One asked where I got her. When I said the town, she said to the others "Oh yeah, there's a puppy mill there." I think their implications were that she had too big of ears, which is true.
But imagine doing that to someone's child at a birthday party or something. "Oh yes, there's definitely an extra chromosome there."
Fucking cunts.
I had a male that had only one nut so he was disqualified from ever competing. His brother went on to be a Grand Champion. Did I love one more than the other. Not really. My big floppy eared female, maybe.
This was ourblind, nutless wonder, Ollie. Went 19 years.

Oddly I agree with the “condescending and being cunt like” remark. I have also seen it in regard to these dogs growing up. Definitely not me either, I grew up poor and I believe my old man got ours from the pound. What a TD for us it was. Perfect dog all around. I’m surprised I don’t see more of them around. Not very popular and I’m not sure why.

They are special. They don't belong in cold or wet climates. Mine thrived in Cabo. Two of mine, including Oliie, were resues. People buy them because they are cute, unusual and a novelty. Then the reality of them pissing in the house makes them end up in rescues or worse, shelters, where these people have no idea how to deal with them.
The will not respond to negative reinforcement or punishment and it has an opposite effect. Mine had a self-shaming that if I just gave them "a look", they knew they did something wrong.
I used to come home and one would be sitting on the stairs with a look saying "Uh, you are going to find something upstairs. I am not proud of it but...there it is." So yelling and beating it wouldn't have accomplished anything.
I trained my female to piss in the shower in our downstairs bathroom when we were house training her. We had a doggy door which she used all the time but when it was raining, I would see her go to the door, look out at the rain, look over at me, then take the long way around the house to sneak into the bathroom to piss in the shower.

They, like most sight hounds, require annual teeth cleanings, which can be $1,000. Most people neglect this. It is $15 in Mexico so our dogs got their teeth cleaned. Still, all had extractions every couple of years regardless.

IGs are a special dog for people that are willing to do what it takes.

When we were still in Kommieforrnia, I used to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home parrots. I had a greenhouse with parrots flying around. I got to deal with all of the bad habits from their previous owners. I spent thousands on vet bills doing this. Sometimes my "rescue" involved paying for the birds just to get them out of a store or home where they didn't belong.

I also did reptile rescue at my expense. Lots and lots of rattlesnake calls.
