I don’t know if this is just me and my fucked up self or if anyone else noticed this.

Kinda hard to explain but If I start my set and I’m shooting for let’s say 15 reps based on what I’ve been doing and what I expect to get. I can usually hit that rep amount and depending on where I’m at in my training maybe get one or maybe even two more reps than expected. Sometimes I fall short too.

Ok now if I walk into the gym and do my normal routine but this time I don’t even think about how many reps I’m supposed to get. I just pump out as many as I can till failure without thinking about what I’m “supposed” to get and It seems like I can blow right that target.

So am I hurting myself by not keeping track of my reps? I know it’s an odd question but it’s something I’m noticing more and more. In the past I always tracked my reps religiously but now I’m thinking maybe that’s wrong.

Anyone else ever notice this? Thanks

I count reps for a couple “big” movements each day to ensure progression, but beyond that man I’m just pushing till I can’t. Definitely a wide range of rep ranges that work as long as intensity and stimulus is there.
