So whats the verdict on carbs before bad? Is it still considered a bad idea and can lead to more gain?

I have a tremendous craving for carbs right before bed but dont know if it would be hindering fat loss. I know calories in vs out rules all but didnt know if the timing mattered on this so much.

Carbs from sugar is not a good idea but if you do carbs from a good source it shouldn’t be a problem as long as it fits in your diet/macros for the day.

IMO eating before bed is a mistake simply Bc our metabolism slows down during this time. By about 15%

Maybe I would have some protein if I was short that day on my intake.

Guess u have to figure out how to stop the cravings.

That’s the real question

Hey,
From my side i tried in the past when i used Dbol, before sleeping around 60g of glucides complexes from maltodextrine + milk protein 30g (80% casein 20% whey) and around 10g lipids from poly/ mono, that's helping me a lot.

I think if your move a lot, the gain fat are minim, but when i eat a lot, my belly tends to swell (when i drink lot water too)

So depend what is your goal and according to your lifestyle yes it's good idea (glucides complexes + protein high value biological)

Carbs before bed can make my sleep less restful as they produce heat when being digested and a warm sleep is less restful for me. And as the body tends to burn fat at a higher rate while sleeping i eat a little more fat before bed then carbs.

I like carbs on my last meal, an hour to two hours before bed. Other than that, I'm currently trying to reframe from carbs during the day right now.

I always have my protein/oat shake before bed with my fish oil, MCT oil, krill oil, and magnesium.
I also always put down a protein/oat shake before bed. Have never had an issue with fat loss when that's the goal - scale still slides the way I want it to.

@JJB1 Nice
Try to add some bisglycinate zinc 30-50mg with your magnesium, that's help a lot for recovery, immune system etc ... I hope your well my friend

Protein is way better choice likes already be said

When on a cut I'll stop carbs 2 hours out before bedtime... I''ll do natty PB and keep a jug of EAAs/BCAAs
on my nightstand and drink during the night on a cut.
Bulking... anything goes.....

I have a tremendous craving for carbs right before bed, probably not helped by how comfortable my Ottoman Beds setup is at night, but dont know if it would be hindering fat loss. I know calories in vs out rules all but didnt know if the timing mattered on this so much.

Carbs before bed are fine as long as they fit within your daily calorie target. The idea that eating carbs at night automatically causes fat gain has been largely debunked. Total calories is what matters, not timing.

Depends on how quickly you burn through your liver glycogen, IMO.

Everyone will be a little bit different. What you don’t want to too many excess carbs that ultimately get processed into fat.

If your body is using them, it’s likely beneficial to sleep. If your body is having to process them into fat, probably opposite.

Never eat after 7 pm, just became a habit from intermittent fasting.

Stopping food intake, a couple of hours before bed isn't going to make a significant difference due to the food you are still digesting from eating all day. A large portion of the food you ate throughout the day will still be digesting during the time even when using GH when it's peaking in sleep. I am not talking about downing 200g of pure sugar before bed so don't straw man. :) I'm talking about a well-balanced bodybuilding bro diet. If people want to cut out food early, then cool. Do what works for you.

It really depends on the individual. I dont believe carbs before bed is going to hinder fat loss if your staying within your daily caloric and macro intake.
What's more important to me is quality of sleep. If I dont eat a meal that contains carbs i have a hard time sleeling and I wake up in the middle of the night hungry.
Quality of sleep is extremely important for recovery and for fat loss.

During cutting only protein before bed. Then the gh shot. When bulking a small portion of fat too

For decades i had my last meal of the day which had carbs, protein and fat in it an hour or 2 before i went to bed. Seems most pro BBers do as well. Hard to eat 6x a day and have the last meal hours before bedtime. Eating that close to sleeping is not the best for deep sleep it seems. But choices have to be made about what works best over all and that can mean not every factor is at it's most optimal.

I fight cravings every night by using. AVB with 4 different spices.

The cinnamon supposedly helps with night cravings.

Same 2hrs before bed is my last meal. I usually consume about 50-70g protein with about 40-80 carbs. I stay full throughout the night and sleep better.

Whey protein and quick oats with ice water before bed for the win; even precontest. 😀
Those whey isolate aminos hit my brain and I fall right asleep. 😴

Well of course your stomach swells when you eat a lot or drink a lot too lol. That’s just what happens when you fill it up.

I’d say the biggest issue of pre bed carbs in just feeling like shit the next day. If I eat too close to bed, anything at all, I wake up with the worst indigestion and just feel more run down than if I don’t eat pre bed

Definitely happens to me with carbs, I can actually eat non-meat protein pretty late though and do well with it overnight. Whey, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, plant protein all do well with me.
