Is there an App or whatever that’s actually free that I can punch in what I ate and it tells me the calories? I just spent 5 minutes setting up a “free” one just for it to tell me I have to pay $19.99 a year for it to tell me how to grow. 🤬

My fitness pal is what I use.

Just eat a ton of CLEAN shit and skip the app bs. Oldschool baby! 💪😎

I personally use myfitpal, but the app above is great as well. It has a share mode you can share with a coach or others so they can follow in real time and over time.

Maybe I’m retarded. I tried it and exact same thing. It waited till I got all the way to the end and it says one month free. I’m not paying for a calorie App. I’ve paid plenty for my wife. She can hand me a plate and tell me within reason what my calories and macros are. I’m basically trying to replace her with an App.

Chronometer is really good, also tracks micronutrients.
Like anything, the paid version is better. I upgraded almost immediately, no regrets. Easily the best food tracker I’ve ever used.

for the lurkers

MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, nutritionix, fatsecret

You're not retarded, but there is a free version that allows you to track everything.

Yup my fitness pal is the shit. And of you got a little extra money it's worth buying

I just started using chronometer and my opinion from using myfitnesspal last year is that I really like the information chronometer gives and the UI for it is good as well. also the database is verified by someone that is a + too..

Out of all of the the “lose it” app had the easiest interface and basically the most user friendly I’ve ever used.

Pay??? Cmon man, when have you ever seen me do that? 😄
I specifically do NOT charge, bc I help to help, not to get paid.
All good, lmk.
Ah man I know that but that shit takes time. Your time is as important and I’d feel like a total heal.

I mean if you’re ok with it then sure. You can ask any coach or dietitian I’ve ever had and if they put it on paper then I’m like the ultimate soldier. Consider it fucking done.

For the record just so everyone doesn’t think I’m a total tool. I use to be able to be just like my wife. I could look at my plate and write down my calories and macros like it was second nature. Since my little brain thing I honestly just can’t wrap my head around it anymore. I’ll figure it out today and tomorrow it’s gone again. I NEED someone to just say AR do this. AR do that. That would be like the ultimate thing for me since certain things just aren’t ever coming back.

I’ve honestly just added calories up in my calculator app throughout the day 😂 over 2 years straight doing it, you learn what everything is lol. I’m sure there’s plenty of easier ways, but that’s what works best for me.

I got you. Go look at @Myvirtue 's log. He followed my directions and made crazy progress!

And dont worry, Im gonna make you spend money on food and supps anyway! 😄😄😄

almost every app that has a barcode scanner is locked behind a paywall, which sucks.

Has bar code scanner. If the food doesn’t register it gives you the option of creating it. I think it keeps you in the ballpark. Something’s you have to watch but for the most part using it as a tool it’s beneficial.

I’ve used MyNetDiary from the beginning of my weight loss journey. Lost 155 pounds using it. So it was a big help. Unfortunately, it didn’t do the work, but it helped me log my nutrition in a huge way. It’s very easy to use and setup. I believe I was using it for free for about the first 6 months and then decided to pay for the full blown version. But I believe you can still use it for free. Its database of foods is excellent. But like any of them, you have to really scrutinize what others may have entered from entries in the database. It allows you to customize your macros and setup your plan. Check it out.

@Fletcher id be interested in seeing that plan you talked about. I’ve been really trying to focus on a bodybuilding nutrition plan. I’ve got to try to go from cutting to some bulking. Nothing crazy. I’m too old for that shit. But, right now I’m a student of that topic. So I can use all the good advice I can get. BTW, I’ve gotten a lot of good advice and encouragement from others on here already. 😁 shout out to @AR-15! You’ve had a lot of good advice and kind words like many others.

I use Cronometer and suggest clients use it too since they seem to always be exchanging foods I put in their meal plans. It helps being on the same page. Some of these apps vary wildly.
I have added a shitload of things to the Cronometer database. Another cool feature.

The majority of clients who come to me that are already tracking food, use myfitnesspal or whatever it’s called. I looked at it. Don’t like it.
