I have noticed I'm not mass monster by any means but you definitely can tell I work out. what I've learned is you get greater respect from people around you no matter where you go. have y'all had the same response ? Love to hear the responses makes me think if over weight people truly respected them selves and learned this part of it they would all get lean

Being lean and in shape especially later in life has helped immensely in my career. When people see you are in shape it shows discipline, hard work, confidence and self-respect. It immediately puts you in a position of power since most-people are slobs and have low self-esteem. First impressions in any sales or service industry are huge.

Yes I just watched a video on it pretty much similar to what you said and it makes so much sense

Science and research supports this. I've been on the extremely over weight side, super skinny side, and the "workout" side and can personally say that I've experienced the same thing as well. People treat you different when you're severely overweight compared to being in shape.

It is also true for job interviews. Overweight people have a lesser chamce of getting a job, especially in management, than a person that is physically fit. We immediately judge people's leadership ability and discipline based on how they look. Fat people look less like leaders. Its sad, but its real.

Well the thing is I was on the fat side to you gotta think about a company looking at the unmotivated fat guy who only wants to eat away his depression and slow then here comes engery filled full of confidence on top of his game which one do you managing your business

Definitely true. Not sure if it’s envy or fear or what, but people do tend to mention it and then kind of take a step back. Almost like yielding power to you. Some I think just genuinely admire or appreciate the work (usually other fit people or former sports folks who know what it takes) but many quietly yield the floor

We were doing a deal once and after walking out of the room my CFO turned to me and said “never trust a fat CFO - no discipline”. That line always stuck with me about how people will take their negotiating positions based on appearances and not always on the actual facts. Sometimes you can leverage that (either direction) and sometimes it’s a pain in the ass lol

Just keep it up. When you are in your 60's and in better shape than all the kids in the gym (take that with a grain of salt, it's Planet Fatness) you get a lot of compliments. Mostly "There's No Way You're 61".

I agree. It’s like a silent respect. They see you in shape knowing you wake your ass up everyday and get to work. While they suck their gut in and tell you how they used to workout years ago and their bench was 405 in high school lol

I was standing in line @ the grocery store and a young kid and his Dad was behind me in line and I overheard the kid say... "Dad look at that guys arms!!"
Then I hear the Dad say, that's a lotta hard work right there son.

The compliments in the gym, the woman.......The jealous fat fucks.

All motivation for me to keep on going. (y)

I got a “you look great for 45!” the other day. I was like I’m 57 and the dude almost dropped

My dad said when I was like 23 or 24 that I looked 40 but that when I was 70 i’d look the same. I sure hope so!

Oddly enough I was just talking to a new subcontractor last week and he didn’t believe I was over 40 because most of the guys he knew were out of shape. He said I looked muscular and lean for my age… thought for a second he was hitting on me lol

Should have played into it a little 🤷🏼‍♂️
Maybe got the work done for free 😂

This is 100% the truth.

Men women kids they all give me respect bc of my size and intimidation factor. 265 lean with veins in your abs isn’t normal to see in everyday life. You’re lucky to just see a few ppl who look like weekend warriors out and about these days.
