Took a couple extra days off.

I thought the wife's appendix ruptured but she must have passed a gallstone or something Friday. I ended up calling an ambulance to the house. She was violently throwing up, pouring sweat and balled up in pain in our bathroom for at least 30 minutes.

Her lipase levels were 3500 and the high end is like 250 so they diagnosed her with acute pancreatitis. CT scan, MRI and ultra sound shows she has multiple gallstones so we're waiting for a decision from the DR on what to do. I assume they will remove her gallbladder but, we'll see..... It's been 3 days now and Dr's suck on the weekend.

I did train pull today though between hospital time.

Progression on most things. Gained a rep on my top sets of one arm pulldowns but lost one on my backoff.

Chest supported upper back row gained a rep but it was a hell of a grind. I subbed the neutral version for the Rogers row and it felt good. I might not stay with this though because I have a harder time getting it into position vs laying down. I had maxed out this machine before injury so I know progress will be short lived before needing to change it anyways.

Only did a single set of deads today. Worked up to 405 which felt good but I took a weight increase to 455 instead of more reps. Just testing the wrist more then anything and wanting to touch heavier weights so I only did a triple here. It moved well, probably could have gotten 5, MAYBE 6 but, discretion is winning right now. I pulled 455*9 before the injury so I've got a ways to go.

Pulldowns were better. Overall a good session. Kinda drained from stress and sleeping in the hospital but, still progress.

Yep, after my post training shake if I don't get a solid meal in 45 minutes after I'll go hypo every time.

Oh yeah your primed for some carbs right there!

I battled gall stones for years before finally having mine removed. I would get severe pain after a big meal but if I ate small meals it wouldn’t get too bad. The surgery sucked for me, lots of post op pain and a long time to heal, they had to cut thru my abs more than normal.

I have always heard that a ruptured appendix is life threatening. But now I know.
My sister's husband had his rupture two weeks ago and he was just released from the hospital. He had kidney failure, was on dialysis, re-opened for exploratory and to put in drains (which are still in there and my sister, a nurse, needs to service).
The guys is 54 and VERY healthy and fit. He just waited too long because he has a new job and was waiting for the insurance to kick in.

Here's the crazy part. That new job is a VP for that hospital network. The incompetence on the first ward he was on nearly killed him. It certainly made things worse. They weren't doing any of the stuff the doctors ordered. Not drawing blood, not doing I and O's, skipping his Lovenox, egregious stuff like this.
Way to make a first impression.

I am glad your wife didn't go through the same thing.

I hope she gets things sorted. That gallbladder removal seems pretty routine these days. I know quite a few people that have had it and their lives really haven't changed. They are back at enjoying everything in life.

It's liproscopic now. I guess it's a couple I've inch incisions and takes 30 minutes

They're going to pull it out in the morning.

Said it takes 30 minutes and it's usually outpatient but they might keep her to see if get lipase levels return to normal and stay there.

Hospitals fucking KILL me. I always feel like I've been through the ringer after I spend any amount of time there. And with my family, we're there pretty regularly for one of them lol.

No training for today and tomorrow.

Measured my arms.... They measured back to size but they sure don't look like it in the mirror, mainly the right tricep.

The left didn't shrink much at all so it looks right, the right, I lost about 2 inches and it measured exactly at 19.75 which was where it was before surgery.

Guess I'll take it.

Good luck to you guys! Just talked to my neighbor who had hers out last month. Says she feel like a new woman.

It was liposcopic when I had mine out but mine was so large and started to rupture which required emergency surgery and a larger incision. I had 4 small holes and a 3-4 inch incision thru my abs

Oh shit.

Yeah her's wasn't that bad.

They pulled it out this morning and everything went well. She might go home this afternoon

Everything back to normal mostly

Wife is sore and home from work so I'm looking after her until she's back on her feet but it's just little things.

Trained legs y'day and it wasn't great. I had missed a lot of meals over the weekend and had some pretty bad sleep so it wasn't surprising. Pushed through but didn't progress anything really.

Push today was much better. Back on the path of progression after getting meals in and 2 full night's of sleep.

Bump in the road, lessgo

Jealous lol
Oh don't be lol.

It only took me 5 years to get it down

My blood sugar issue has always been lack of sleep and rest because of my profession.

I would guess over the last 5 years I averaged about 4 hours of sleep, 20k+ steps per day and no real set schedule. Throw in 4 kids, wife, bodybuilding and the coaching it's not a great environment for healthy blood sugar.

There's other stuff too of course..... GH does fuck my blood sugar up at lower doses, needing to eat 5-6k calories to grow (see the steps and work), being hard headed and never missing a training session when I needed more rest.

Having this wrist surgery finally put it into perspective since I could actually sleep.

I must be lucky. I use 6iu gh every night and bg still in the 80s waking up. If pushing carbs low I will get in the 60s. Shitty diet with too much simple carbs is the thing that will fuck it the most for me.

I got myself a graston tool.

I've been thinking about getting one for a while but never pulled the trigger. This one was only $10 and the balm stuff was the same.

I've had graston therapy done a lot in the past and it's always been pretty helpful with the quads so figured I would give it a try.

Got some learning to do.

On the bright side, I didn't have any knots in my quads.

On the not so bright side, I didn't have any knots in my quads so, I got too aggressive and must have blown a vein. It's much puffier then it looks in the picture but, I'm still a ghostly white individual so it's kinda hard to see

Work in progress!

Been a few really good days.

Took an extra rest day Saturday and went out to my parents property to do a bunch of clean up.

The plan a few years ago was for my wife and I to build a house out there after all the kids were out of school and on their way to their own life's. After Dad passed away 4 years ago we started to think about fast tracking the plan because I don't like my mom being out there by herself since it's kinda in the middle of nowhere.

We've been waiting for something to happen with the interest rates and inflation though so, after the admin changed we have gotten more serious about moving forward. Being off work since October has put a damper on finances as well so since I'll be going back soon timing works out.

My mom is a borderline hoarder .... She just thinks she can use everything she sees and she rarely throws stuff away so there's just a bunch of bullshit junk all over the place that needs to be hauled off but, she's attached to a lot of it so it's a slow process.

Anyways, we piled up a ton of brush, I tore down and piled up the old pool deck (we'll burn all of this and the brush after we get a good rain), moved hundreds of paving stones to one place for later use, hung up some fans on her porch and a bunch of other little things that we could get done.

Was a labor intensive day and it felt good to work for a while in the sun on a beautiful day.

We laid out where we will probably build the barndo and it sits very well in the back corner. Can't see it from the road and we're surrounded by trees so it's nice and hidden. We should be able to to tie into the existing septic tanks, have easy access to power and city water unless we decided to rejuvenate the water well. It PROBABLY just needs a new pump because it was working fine before the old pump went out years ago and if that's the case we'll use it. If it has issues with the down pipe we'll most likely just use city water. The gas situation is a propane tank which I'm not a huge fan of but, it might be fine, just need to do some price comparison.

Busy year ahead of us!

Started the test and Deca this weekend. So happy to be able to push again.

Pull y'day. Just more steady progress on all lifts.

Legs today. Same setup as usual for this day but I added some bands to my single leg press. These were excellent

Only Had the band tension on the last 3rd of the ROM to get more into the quad. Probably the best quad pump I've had in weeks. Pulled 35lbs off for 90lbs of tension at lockout so I failed a few reps shorter then I would have liked, went like 15, 14, 12.

Onward!
