ASF and Thanksgiving...

we did Tday last saturday and it was a huge success, 3 turkeys 3 tri tips, and 1 ham, lots of sides and all the wimmins brought different deserts. Im still full

I'm headed to the gym. Chest and Back day today <3 I'm scared to see the gym. I know its gonna be stupid packed. UGH.

That’s what it all about though. It’s supposed to be loud and chaotic, kids running around, uncle Fred complaining about his lumbago, cousin Bobby telling kinda inappropriate jokes, aunt Marge telling your mom she’s making grammas recipe wrong lol. It’s supposed to be a zoo, throw in a few dogs and an impromptu flag football game and you got a family👍🏻

Just remember when @Doug 64 comes over, cause your chunky brother in law mistakes heartburn for a heart attack, and give him a slice of pie.
We used to do a turkey bowl every thanksgiving morning. It was tackle when we were young and then two hand “touch” which was really two hand push…. Then flag football…. So much fun getting the friends and family together ….
It’s actually back day bro
correction: it’s BIG back day bro!!

Happy Thanksgiving my Brothers! May God continue to bless and keep you and your families in peace, joy and health❤️

Im smoking a about 4-5lb lamb roast, then gonna end with a hight temp cook for a short duration
I marinated it for 15hrs, I read the more you marinate the better and sweeter the meat so I used a red wine, honey salt rosemary, garlic, onion... this is a first for me, time will tell haha

red potatoes, carrots and this new (to me) cranberries and oranges mix from Albertsons deli, it was pretty good, tons of garlic bread, hawaiian rolls
not to big on the desserts today, we may go later and see if central market has one I can stomach. I cant eat them lately, so I bought my son blueberry muffins with 900 ingredients in them, he loves them though smh

I never had lamb (seriously) until last Thanksgiving at my Gfs parents. (They don’t eat turkey. yeah lamb is GOOD.

What was your recipe?

Yeah, IM relatively new to lamb as well, first time I had it was in march 2024 at Hussers grill and I was WOWED

Ive had plenty of lamb chops since then but never a roast so my recipe was part me and what I found on the www

marinated in an olive oil honey and red Cabernet, literally submerged on each side for several hours, I think about 12-15 total
then covered it in olive oil and honey
spices:
rosemary
garlic
onion
salt
pepper

I made several small slices all over the roast and stuffed spice and onion in each slice. Gave it a solid rubdown and wrapped it for the smoker, I put some marinade in the bottom while it smoked and I smoked the entire marinade in a separate foil pan. I sliced/boiled the potatoes and used part of the marinade to cook the potatoes, carrots, onions and mushrooms together on the cast iron pan with olive oil, salt and pepper with some cajun slap ya mama to spice it up a bit, put that on the smoker.

Then had plenty left over marinade for gravy, dipping and what not... it may have been an 8.5 haha I’ll know for sure next go-round
