Here’s a pm request by a bro who need help, I want you to pay attention to the number he put down about his nutrition. Then you can look at my answer but, it’s a good example about why sometime things go wrong when you think everything’s in check...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sly, thanks for getting back! I am 44 6'1" 255 lb. 18-22% always get different readings lately on bf.I just started a kinda weird split with a bro. Today was chest, bis, tommorrow back, rest, legs and calves, shoulders, rest and start over. I have been doing cardio for everyday after training except leg days. On rest days just doing cardio. My med history is I am on trt of 200 mg. a week doctor prescribed. I have much gear available but have been told countless times I need to get to minimum 15% to run gear. I did this fall run a 10 week cycle of mlg test at 250 mg. and formeron for an ai, every third day with outstanding results. my test went from around 900 to 4000! I am also on 150 mcg. a day thyroid med. from endochronologist. So I have been on cruise trt and 1 pump daily of formeron for like almost 8 weeks. About 5 years ago I went from a buff 240 to 328 in a year and a half after back injury/divorce. I am happy now but just on a plateau. I eat oatmeal and egg whites for breakfast, post wo shake with karbolyn , 2 to 3 meals with chicken breast and brown rice, cottage cheese and casein protein before bed. Approx, 2500 cals a day, around 2-250 protein 200 ish carbs and fairly low fat, supplemented with a candy bar every few days. THanks again

Ok bro, let’s do the math together, you said about 2500cal/day. Perfect intake for you at 255lbs. I do recommend having a 10g per lb intake so, you’re right on!

The problem is about those number you gave me; 2-250g of protein (let’s assume 250 here) and around 200g of carbs.

1g of protein =4calories
1g of carbs = 4calories
1g of fat = 9calories.

If I take your number, 250g of pro + 200g of carbs =450g of product who are = to 4cal/g for a total of 1800cal

2500cal -1800 = 700cal. If those came by the way of fat, it’s about an 80g of fat daily intake... way too much.

If you can, skip the candy bar or at least try to shoot for a protein bar (those are candy imo)

When you get the advice of not running gear over 15% of bf, it was a good one. In fact, the higher your body fat, the most chance for aromatize to show up...

Is your back 100% now?

Just don’t see any triceps on your training split???

Your training must be address. Do you know what somato type you are (Ecto, meso or endomorph)

You’ve been thru a lot man, sometime, stress (who raises damn cortisol level) can make you gain weight like crazy...

What kind of cardio you’re doing? (Type and intensity please)

Shoot me back with details and also, let me know if you’re willing to try something new in regard of your training.

Talk soon bro.

80grams of fat a day is too high?

I would really want go find out more about that thyroid medication. Hyporhyroid is probably the actual problem with his weight

Yes. This and 80 grams of fat is fine if carbs are in check. It all depends on the body type.

Type of fat also, all calories aren't created equal. as for carbsf a bagels bring in lets say 240cal and an apple around 60cal, bagels get higher numbers but apple still give you more energy... living food over processed food. Same for fat. Avocado fish oil and nuts are g2g.

My coach designed diet which I had ridiculous success on for a major cut had 100g of fat per day. I'm a 145 pound female. Mostly "good fat" sure but still more than 80 and it was a major cut and I'm way smaller than that dude.

Having been through pretty ridiculous hell with thyroid bullshit personally if someone says they are dietin and not losing weight I suspet thyroid. If they actually ARE dieting and not losing weight thats not normal and probably IS the thyroid. With unoptimized thyroid levels and thyroid disease calories aren't the issue nor are macros.

Almost 100% right on this on babe,
My wife was fighting anorexia in the past and mess up big time with her hormonal ratio. Thyroid problems where part of our life on a daily base (medication and all the shit) so, I feel you about this part.
100g of fat isn’t that much for you. Damn, I have some of my 150lbs boys on 8000cal/day (more than 200g of fat/day) and they are just some fit bastard, in fight shape year long! Those dudes are 100% clean (Tested athletes) well..... some Var maybe J
The point here is that you might be on your prime right now, running Primo, Var and some HGH.
Probably lifting heavier than lots of bro I saw in the gym! You must take metabolic rate in consideration too.
Let’s take some extreme example here;
1) A 5 feet tall obese man of 220 lbs.
2) A 6 feet tall pro athlete ice hockey NHL player of 220lbs.
Do you see where I’m going here... Both 220 but a world of differences between those two. They just don’t have the same nutritional needs even at the same weight. Weight is one thing but body composition is more important imo.
A 145 chicks with balls, stepping in the cage 4x a week, a 145lbs 65 years old like my mom with slim to none physical activities and a 145lbs 6’3 ectomorphic slimjim won’t use their nutriments the same way...
Take me for example, on my breakfast I had 1 fucki... huge plate of meat sauce spaghetti with 3 donuts, some grill chicken (yesterday leftover) dipped in humus all at the same time plus a shake of Iso Cut...
It was back training today, on my heavy lift day, I eat whatever I want and get no problems. I even use to have a daily different food intake according to the body part I’ll work on that very day...
I use to work with Susan Kleiner; she’s an authority in the world of nutrition. She takes care of NFL and MLB players, pro boxers and Olympic athletes. She put some of them on 55-60% carbs diet and they turn into fat burning machine...
Nutrition is a crazy world; when we think we know everything’s, they change micro in the macro to fuck us up!
Regards,
Sly.
